Around the begining of March my 2009 chevy Traverse developed a winding sound when steering at a stop or low speed. At this time the steering wheel was very difficult to turn. The problem has progress and now the venice has little to no assistb. I saw that gm recently released a recall on several of its models with simmilar steering systems. I feel that the 2009-2012 chevy Traverse lt should also be included. 6.
When backing and turning out of parking space, a loud crunch noise was heard and a piece of metal was found to have fallen from vehicle. The metal was the swaybar end link bracket and ball stud which had broken off of the strut on the front drivers side. Inspection of the part revealed that two of the three factory welds holding the bracket to the main tube of the strut were faulty. Weld bead was present but not at the proper location to attach the bracket. This was a manufacturing defect in the strut and there is one other complaint of an identical issue.
I was in the process of making a left hand turn when my steering wheel locked when I finally got the steering wheel to loosen and move back into place I heard a loud popping sound. Then my car on the front passenger side dropped to the ground due to the front tire axle braking which caused me to hit the back of a park vehicle. The brake of the axle appeared to clean as though the axle was never apart of my car. The incident scared me a lot and it could have been a lot worse. I do not understand how this could have happened on 3 year old car and I did not have any real warning signs prior to this. I would like to get this issue resolved as I am now without my car and I have to face repairing someone else's vehicle.
