It has happened a few times where the stabilitrack goes haywire while driving and locks the vehicle up allowing to only travel a few miles per hour super unsafe when on highway. Have had a chevy dealership replace the throttle body snd less than 10,000 miles later same problem. In researching online seems this is a very common problem on all chevys that is extremely unsafe when it happens and your driving.
I have a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse ltd, I've only owned the car 8 months. The traction control is constantly coming on! the message on the screen appears: service traction control, service stabilitrack. After, this happens, another message appears reducing engine power. This is dangerous because at this point the more I try to accelerate, the more the engine goes down. This is so very dangerous because this could happen when I'm not able to pull over! this needs to be recalled or someone is going to get killed! normally, 80% of the time I'm on a major interstate when this happens or I'm on a major highway. Please investigate this!.
Check engine light for throttle bottle sensor which causes the gas pedal to stick when trying to accelerate. Service stability track and traction control off which causes the car to lose engine power while driving.
Went to the dealer for an oil change. Left with a $4,600 repair estimate. The car has never been in accident has 130,00 miles. They are saying the front timing cover is leaking $1314, the steering rack is leaking $1804 , swaybar bushing is loose $233 and bunch of other things. I have had nothing but problems with this car alternator was replaced at 100,000 miles and a few othe major problems that were cover under warranty.
On 2/3/15 driving 60mph on the 1-87 my steering wheel began to vibrate on and off. Then drove about 5 miles further then my stabilitrack and traction control failed with its indication on the dash board then the vehicle skid symbol lit up and the dashboard stated engine loss of power and the vehicle slowing began to deaccelerate to about 40mph and I had to pull over on the shoulder and had my vehicle towed to chevy dealer. I was told it was my throttle body. Which I see seems a big problem for a lot of 2011 Traverse owners. The repair will cost me nearly $700 after I replaced a burned out wireharness for $658 just 2 weeks ago!!!!.
I was driving down I 74 at 70 mph when my dash issued 3 warnings (service traction control, service stabilitrack, & engine power reduced). My vehicle dropped down to 15 mph and was unable to pick up speed. I had to swerve onto the shoulder to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic. By the time I got to a safe place the whole thing was shaking and sputtering. They need to do a recall before someone gets killed !.
I was entering onto the freeway when my stabilitrack turned off by itself and my engine power was reduced. I was very nearly rear-ended as my car couldn't safely accelerate (accelerate at all really) as I was coming onto the freeway. A search on problems similar to this appears very prevalent within the chevy line of vehicles, especially the Traverse. This is a very serious issue and was very unsafe where it occurred. It almost caused. It's very disappointing to see how many people are experiencing this same issue and chevy hasn't issued any kind of recall to try and fix it.
While traveling on the highway heading to the airport, we were going approximately 60mph. The engine light came on and truck began to power down. The traction control/stabili track light also came on and we were losing speed and could not accelerate. With other vehicles around us were going 60mph or more we had to try and get off highway to side of road before our truck lost power all together. We then shut off the truck let it sit for few minutes and then turned truck back on. We were then able to pull back on to highway at full speed. It happened a two more times before we were able to reach our destination. Three days later we were back in our truck leaving the airport heading home and within 5 minutes of being on the road our truck began to power down again, check engine light came on and stabili track light also came on. We had to again pull over but this time at least 5 times before we were able to make it home. It was a very dangerous and scary ordeal. We contacted atlantic chevy about the problem and we brought truck in a week later due to the fact that they said they did not have a loaner vehicle available for us. We were told that it was the throttle body and we were not covered since we were past our 3yr/36,000 miles warranty. After much research, we have found that we are one of many other gm customers who have had the same situation with their vehicle powering down in the middle of driving. This is not just a random problem with our vehicle but appears to be a defective problem with the part. Customers are being expected to pay for this to be fixed when in fact it should be a recall on the part or it should be covered under the federal emissions warranty. I hope by us filing this complaint that it will be looked into further and that it will be handled in the way that satisfies all general motor customers who have had to deal with this problem. Thank you.
