1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2025

During a routine maintenance appointment with my mechanic, the airbag warning light illuminated on the dashboard immediately following service. I brought the vehicle to a dealership for diagnosis and was informed that the issue is due to a manufacturer-issued recall affecting the airbag system. However, I was also told that no replacement parts are currently available and there is no estimated date for when the defective component can be replaced. This creates a serious safety risk, as the vehicle may now be operating with a disabled or malfunctioning airbag system, which could fail to deploy in the event of a collision. I am forced to drive a vehicle that has been acknowledged as unsafe by the manufacturer and dealer, without remedy or safe alternative provided. The dealer confirmed the recall and the unavailability of parts, but has offered no loaner vehicle, reimbursement, or temporary resolution. I am requesting that NHTSA intervene to ensure that: the manufacturer remedies the safety defect in a timely manner. Affected drivers are provided with safe alternative transportation if parts are delayed. Accountability measures are enforced if harm results from known but unresolved recalls. Component/system for inspection: vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Warning lights/symptoms: the airbag indicator light turned on immediately after routine service. Dealer confirmed problem: yes. Manufacturer informed: indirectly, through dealer report. Police/insurance involved: no.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2023

Transmission shudders at low speeds on incline.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2022

When driving during rain, the abs light came on due to wet conditions and reduced my driving speed ability, and created difficulty for traffic and for my family on the highway. This of which made me have to pull off to the side of the road and try to travel 40 minutes to a safe destination at a very slow speed while my vehicle was difficult to drive. Once parked overnight at a hotel it was okay to drive but created a very dangerous situation on the roadways. I wasn't sure that I could drive it in the morning and was hundreds of miles from home. Another situation is when my led dash lights go out or become nearly invisible. I can't read anything on the dashboard that displays mileage or anything else. Can make it difficult for driving and safety concerns. Also, my blind spot detection quit working and has caused problems detecting cars and anything else while driving or backing up. Another issue is my side airbag came open by itself but has not launched (thankfully). I cannot repair it on my own. These are expensive issues. I had already replaced all of my tires due to the tires that had been on it kept going flat and the sensors stopped working.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2021

From almost the time it left the factory, the onboard navigation system included in this vehicle has contained out of date and dangerous mapping. Drivers should be warned not to rely on the system until proper updates are provided by the manufacturer. This is particularly dangerous in areas where new construction has altered entrance and exit points on highways. Countless attempts to work with the manufacturer to obtain an update have fallen on deaf ears. On a recent trip the outdated mapping recommended a 150 mile detour where none was ultimately needed.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2021

Car shutters when between 30-40 mph. Multiple other reports online with same vehicles claiming torque converter issues.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/06/2020

A week after the purchase, the car started to stall while driving and the ac went out. The dealer replaced the air compressor. About a few weeks later, the vehicle stopped wouldn't start. I took it back to the dealer and they claimed to have taken it to another repair shop and they deemed it an electrical issue. They claimed to have fixed it. I got the vehicle back and the very next day it started to smoke while driving and the ac went out again.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2020

I purchased a used 2015 chevy Traverse from a Chevrolet dealership with 58435 miles. Within 200 miles, the rear ac went out while driving to an air show in June 2020. I live in the southeast where temps can get very hot and humid quickly, and I have two young children. So now, my car has become a hazard to my children as I am not able to drive them anywhere when the sun is out. It is unimaginable to leave a child in a hot car, so what is the difference when Chevrolet has known about the ac issues in its vehicles for years!!! I'm tired of car manufacturers not taking responsibility for their shotty work! how, in good faith, can I drive my children in my car, in the southeast, with no ac? windows down doesn't work with small children and wind is blowing in their face on a highway or in traffic and there is no wind. When speaking to the dealership about getting it fixed, it is going to cost $1400 and they are aware this is an issue with these vehicles. However, the consmer now has to pay for a known faulty ac. Chevrolet has already issued an updated part! they know, and yet there is no recall. Having a manufacturer know about a faulty ac is a safety problem, for children. Period. And they need to do the right thing and own up to it. Just google known ac problems in 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. You'll see, it's not just the style and make of my vehcile, it's acadia, Buick and GMC vehicles.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/15/2019

Ac started blowing hot air at 36k miles. Was sitting still in park when I noticed. My girls were crying and I got out and checked the rear vents. Sure enough, hot air. Front ac blows cold, but rear blows hot air and when it's 90+ degrees out and my 3 daughters are in the back sweating, one a newborn, I think that's pretty hazardous. You can't leave someone in a vehicle with the air off, let alone blowing hot air in the middle of full blown summer. From what I understand, "this is a common issue, but there has been no recall, and therefore Chevrolet, nor gm will have no part in helping with repairs and/or replacements". I'm disgusted, as, I have only had the vehicle under 4 months. My wife and I are literally heartbroken. We pour our lives into our jobs, and spending it on a newer vehicle that has no ac for our girls. This was part of why we got a Chevrolet, because of the renowned name. But dang, had I known this was going to happen, plus the issues I had after I got the vehicle home. . . I would have went elsewhere, put it that way.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2019

A year ago, I went to perform the yearly inspection for this car and it failed the readiness test. This year was the same (ref. Nyvip2 record number 3965-analyzer #ny00007629 - facility-apple auto & truck -#7098325-phone 7185858798. It was suggested by the technician to run the vehicle for 70 miles at over 50 miles an hour steadily. I believe it should be a more efficient way to correct this situation without doing this. For safety reasons, doing this in new york is not an easy task. I need your help.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

Everytime I put fuel in my 2015 Traverse. . The vehicle hesitates to start. It's a scary feeling when my 3 children are in the car, so I never pump fuel with my kids just incase I have to walk home.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2018

As I was driving my car started to stutter and the engine light came on the traction control light and something about the stabilizer needs fixed, reduced engine power. Car stopped went into limp mode. Glad I wasn't in a car accident. I have read many people are having this issue and nothing is being done. We were in a city street. My car has 48717 miles on it.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2018

My airbag light remains on after having it fixed. My stabilitrac and traction control comes on randomly after having it fixed twice. Then being told it's a sensor that makes it come on, and they are having a hard to reproducing the issue at chevy service center. It makes it difficult to accelerate and makes truck jerk. I have to pull over let the car reset, and then start driving again. Different conditions, and speeds, ever since December/January.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2018

Vehicle doesn't turn off when key turned to off position and removed.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/05/2018

When my vehicle is in idle or park the fan makes a ticking noise. I turn ac or heat up or down and the noise continues at times the noise is louder. Took it back to the dealer right after I bought it used and they told me I think it was the evaporator was empty so they refilled it after I paid my deductible for warranty. About a ya later I heard it again I went to a friends shop they told me the same thing he filled it and it's been about another year and it's making the noise again and it's the same issue. This happens mostly while driving but you do hear it while it is in motion. I looked this issue up and it seems to be a very big issue with this. My warranty is no longer valid now and I feel this issue is something is wrong with the vehicle and a recall should be looked into. What other issues is this causing to my vehicle.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2017

Have a 2015, Traverse, with same problem that was recalled in earlier models. I thought after a recall, that the problem would be addressed. The lift gate on my daughter's vehicle hit my head and continued to close on me. I didn't attempt it, but it seemed as if it would have closed on me. I was attempting to get a folding chair from cargo area, while she was parked in my driveway.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2017

This complaint involves the britax b safe 35 elite infant car seat and the red release button found on top of the seat where an infant's feet/legs rest. My daughter just turned 1 a few weeks ago and is able to release the straps in this car seat herself. She rests her feet on the red button and with the road movement of the car and her wiggling around, she is able to loosen the seat enough to get her arm out of the strap. It does not take much force whatsoever to push down on the button to cause the straps to loosen. This is the third time she has loosened herself from this seat. The button is fully exposed with no covering in an area that children rest their feet. After visiting several car seat retailers, I noted that britax b safe infant seat was the only car seat that did not have a covering over the release button. I have photos of those car seats if needed. Even britax's own convertible seats at least have a lip over the button to prevent children from releasing it. Every single car seat I came across either had the release button under the padding, had a plastic lip that extended over the button, or was positioned in a way that a child could not release it (much less an infant). This clearly seems to be a design and safety feature that was overlooked by britax. Britax customer service told me my daughter was too tall for the seat yet she falls under the height and weight requirements of 32 inches and/or 35 lbs. This is my 4th britax car seat purchase and I have been impressed with their brand up until now. The 3 other seats I own all have the release button under the seat padding where an infant/child cannot easily get to it. It was absolutely terrifying to know that my daughter was not safe in her car seat as I was driving around. We have since discontinued using this seat.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/28/2015

My wife was driving our 2015 Chevrolet Traverse 2lt in a construction zone at the speed limit. The vehicle abruptly shook side to side several times, then shut off engine power abruptly and lurched forward and back 5 times hard enough to throw her into the seat belt. About the lurching, she said it was like the car was trying to brake to a stop. She had a whole dashboard full of lights, and she saw a status message in place of the odometer that said something about the traction control turning off. She was in a construction zone without any shoulders, and couldn't immediately get off the road, but the engine power returned, so she took the first freeway exit and was able to stop the car. After she restarted the car, it seemed to be normal, so she drove it to the dealership for repair. The dealership said that it is working properly now, so they can't do anything.
