We have had problems with this vehicle since we purchased it 2yrs ago. It started with loosing power once in awhile, then the ac quit working, both sets of keys have lost the buttons on the keypad, we have to manually lock and unlock the doors and the auto start is unusable, and now it stalls out at a speed above 30mph and starts smoking severely. It is not drivable. I have to pull over every 2 to 3 miles, because it overheats. We had it towed to a mechanic 2 weeks ago and he did what he could for what we could afford, but we didn't get 10 miles before it started again. The mechanic said this vehicle had a lot of problems. We are 79yrs old and we always have our grandchildren 5 and 6 with us. You can imagine how frightening it is when this happens and we pull over and get everyone out. People pull off and try to help, but we worry about the wrong person stopping for the wrong reason.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the key fob failed to unlock or lock the rear driver’s side and rear passenger’s side doors. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v422000 (electrical system, equipment) or 16v257000 (equipment, electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 179,000.

My 2016 Chevrolet Trax experienced loss of power while driving on the highway. I experienced moments where it would not accelerate. This put myself and other drivers at risk due to the random loss of power. There was no warning there was any issue with the vehicle prior to this event. In addition, I have experienced a/c failure. I have had this inspected and multiple components replaced by a service shop, but it still is not working. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

This site is useless. There are so many complaints about the 2016 Chevrolet Trax on here, but yet nobody is doing anything about it! I believe it is a severe safety hazard for all vehicles on the highway when a vehicle loses power without warning , whether it is on the interstate, or a residential street! but I guess the manufacturer does not think it's a safety hazard, but apparently if your vehicle doesn't remind you to take your key out of the car when you turn it off, or to put your seatbelt on ,now, that's what they consider to be a real saftey hazard!!! forget the bells and buzzers, if that's the most important thing, you shouldn't be driving anyway. This vehicle has been a problem since we purchased it 2yrs ago and now it is sitting in the driveway and will not start at all. We had to purchase another vehicle. The manufacturer knew there was problems with the 2016 Trax and instead of fixing the problem, the continued to sale them, now we are stuck with the problem. I guess the lawsuit concerning this situation didn't teach this site anything . Good luck consumers.

A/c dashboard control selector linkage no longer working. The dampener linkage cable from hot/cold selector knob control is not working. Several videos on youtube show a history of gm being aware, but doesn't care. No access to a 'working' a/c unit with children, pets or adults in vehicle places all in danger, especially on extremely hot hazy days. Gm needs to correct this engineering design flaw and/or have parts or repairs available. Once again the dampener linkage cable from hot/cold selector knob control is not working, breaks far too easily, causing expensive repairs and victimizing consumers.

Bought 2016 Trax January 2019 with 19000 miles. In 2022, with only 31000 miles, I have had multiple issues. First, my dashboard display suddenly went black; no radio, backup camera or sound with directional signals. Before I could take car to dealer my battery died and when a new battery was installed all issues were corrected. Then in March the water pump needed replacing, at which time I was told that the compressor also needed replacing. I also have peeling paint on the hood. The car is bright blue and other people have reported this peeling paint problem with their blue cars. Windshield wipers are not efficient and leave streaks. I’ve replaced them and they work well for about a year only. The wipers must be purchased through the dealer. And now, at 33000 miles my dashboard display is black again, and battery is at 100% charge. I replaced the water pump ($1,000), but don’t know how to proceed with the compressor and black screen. Don’t know why dealer has high rating with aaa as I have had nothing but unpleasant interactions with them. Staff is rude and dismissive.

The air in the car started blowing warm in 2021. I took it to the dealership and they said maybe a leak. They did a leak test and put something I. It to make it cold for a couple days. I’ve been having g the same complaint since. After looking online, I saw that it is a compressor issue. I had an oil change done last week and asked them to look at it. They said it was my compressor. The car is only 7 years old with 77k miles. The cost to replace is too high for a manufacturer’s issue.

Vehicle was purchased new. In less than 3 years the paint on the hood had a large patch of paint flaked off to the metal. I was told it was not covered by warranty. Within the last year, there are more places on the hood and now a larger patch of paint on the trunk that has bubbled and /or started peeling off. The vehicle has only been washed by hand with a household hose and gentle cleaner made for cars. As a matter of fact, the original paint peel resulted from try to rinse the vehicle with plain water. Due to all of this we are going to have the whole vehicle repainted at less than 4 years of ownership . Ther is also an undiagnosed electrical issue. The radio and phone controls on the steering wheel are not functional and we are unable connect any devices using bluetooth. Also temperature measurement is missing from the display.

On 11/23/19 I'm just leaving home early on Saturday morning and on timaquana rd while I was driving my 2016 Trax locked up on me and my Chevrolet Trax motor just stopped in the middle of the road , this could have been fatal and thank god I didn't get crushed in the middle of traffic. All the lights came on as if it was electric problem ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

Drivers side passenger door power lock stopped working. Our 2016 Trax has only 17000 miles on it. We had our 4 yr old granddaughter in the back in here car seat. We could not get the door open. Eventually I was able to pull the door lock up from the top of the car. We were stationary at the house after leaving the park. If this car was to have caught on fire I am not sure what we would have done. Our bumper to bumper warranty ended in June which was 3yr 36,000 mikes. However we did purchase a 3rd party extended warranty which makes me pay a $200 deductible. I made contact with Chevrolet, here is the claim number 9-5469287572 the senior advisor is john. I believe that Chevrolet has an integrity issue with doing the right thing especially a severe safety flaw with there power door locks. The service advisor at haley Chevrolet in midlothian va said that the door locks just stopped working for no reason. Its not the $200 that I have to pay it is just the principle of them giving me the run around. This could be a on going issue that is building. Hopefully, know one will be injured due t this flaw. At 30k miles all lights would light up and something would drive wrong. From steering to low acceleration and everything in between. Dealership unable to figure out problem as well as local shops. It's back in at dealership. They recently ordered the underhood fuse box to be installed at $980. 00 and now telling me it's still not fixing the problem.

When I am driving there is a loud knocking sound always. It happens while driving at any speed, turn, and parking. When I hit about 40 mph, the vehicle steering wheel starts shaking and it is difficult to control vehicle. I can feel the knock underneath my feet while driving. In regards to the electrical system the radio freezes frequently and rear view parking camera has malfunction. In regards to the windshield wiping systems it just stopped working. Fluid does not come out at all making it very difficult to see the in various conditions. I have to pull over wherever I may be, use a water bottle to throw water on window to see then turn the wipers on. I even have to do it while driving especially on the expressway in rainy/dusty/muddy conditions. My family and I are worried and definitely not happy about these conditions. Kingdom Chevrolet sold us a faulty vehicle and now claim that we have to pay $135 for each and every issue which is insane for a diagnostic.

I was driving on a suburban road and my engine light, and stabilitrak light came on and it was suddenly driving as though I was on huge boulders and rock and shaking and having a difficult time gasing. I had to get it towed and barely made it home a couple miles away. The dealor mechanic said my cars driveshaft broke, only after 25k miles. Then less than a year later I am driving on a flat road normal conditions and my engine light is on and its driving rough, having a difficult time getting gas it felt like. Come to find out the coil pack was misfiring. The coil pack was corroded and burnt out. The spark plugs in turn were no good. My car was leaking gas and was running on 3 fuel injectors as the 4th was broken. This occurred right before or at 40k miles! it has been to the mechanic shop 6 times in 2 months. I bought it brand new.

The key was barely bumped while in the ignition and driving on a high speed road twice and the key turned to the off position so my steering wheel locked up to the point I can barely get to the side of the road to safely put the car in park to restart it. Having a baby in the backseat too both times made it a very scary situation.

My mom purchased a 2016 chevy Trax for me at Chevrolet of homewood, 18033 s. Halsted, homewood, IL on 6/13/16 under her name. Within the 1st week of purchase the brakes began squeaking while in motion. After the 2nd week the brakes began squeaking loudly as onlookers responded to the noise they say were coming from the back brakes. I took the car to Chevrolet of homewood on July 7, 2016 for brake inspection. Service test drove the vehicle, heard the noise from brakes but said it was normal. On 7/10/16, the brakes were squeaking so badly I took my car to firestone on elston & addison in chicago, for a vehicle inspection. Firestone noted the brakes were squeaking & told me to take the Trax back to the dealer as the brakes were squeaking all the time. I emailed ceo mary barra on 7/22/16 to complain & she set me up with antoinette baker under case# 8-2249264993, who worked with me until 7/27/16, & without notice turned me on to gm's legal nicole rodella. On 10/27/16 @ 11:03am nicole rodella, called to inform me that gm was gathering information from dealer to determine my claim & she would call me in a few days. On 11/15/16, nicole called telling me she needed an affidavit from my mom to further discuss my complaint. I asked to speak to her supervisor. Gm's ms. Barber (supv. ) told me my mom needed to sign an affidavit for them to deal with me the complaint, although both names are on gm's paperwork. I sent barber dealer paperwork with both names of me and mom, & barbara said that was not enough on 11/15/16. Barber told me she would have nichole get paperwork from dealer & call me back on 11/16/16 & never did. I called barber back on 11/16/16, left message & she has not responded. Attached is sound of brakes. I am requesting to be put in a new vehicle or that gm pay off Trax immediately.
