Seat Belt problem #2

On October 8, 2025 my cousin, [xxx] , and I were on highway mile 113, 65 north and were about to exit when an ambulance exited onto the highway ahead causing the traffic to suddenly stop. As the traffic stopped, I hit my brake, which usually jolts when I hit it but it didn't this time, the brake didn't feel the same, the brake was soft and it felt like my car wasn't stopping. The warning red light that usually goes off didn't and I hit a Jeep at a speed of about 55 to 60 mph yet none of my airbags diployed. We smelled fire and saw some smoke come in from the vents but couldn't see over the hood that had been bent up, both of our seatbealts had been stretched out so that when we took them off, we could not put them back on, and the adjuster I had on my seatbealt to keep it off my shoulder completely broke off. I pull over as far as I could safely since I couldn't see. The driver of the Jeep got out of her car and inspected it, she came back to the passenger side of my car and said that she was in a rental, there was no damage and couldn't afford to turn in accident in so she had to leave, and left the scene. Both my cousin and I were feeling pain in our chest so when 1st responder came, he called for an ambulance. My car was towed and we were both taken to eskenazi er where my cousin was treated and released the same day. I was admitted into the hospital icu and had emergency cervical fusion spinal cord surgery on October 9, 2025 and wasn't released until October 17, 2025 with ongoing treatment for therapy and loss of mobility of my right arm which is due to nerve damage and abdomen bruising, I am still recovering and have ongoing treatments for my spine. I noticed the alarm didn't sound when it should have times before but since nothing was said about any problem when I took my car in for service in September, I didn't think that there would be an issue like this. A police report was made but I do not have a copy yet. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Seat Belt problem #3

I was in a auto accident where I was hit at a high speed on my passenger front side resulting in my airbags to deploy along with my seatbelt failing to hold me in the seat where the seatbelt became fully extended and unlatched and won’t retract back into place resulting in me having a perforated small intestine and colon damage. I had to have trauma surgery to repair my small intestine where I had 22 staples in my stomach and a hospital stay of 5 days as a result. Vehicle has not been inspected by an inspector, but was inspected by adjuster with auto insurance which stated they felt the seatbelt failed. A lawyer wouldn’t take the case to look further into the vehicle. The vehicle was on hold with the insurance agency but will be released for auction shortly. Since purchasing the vehicle, there has been numerous issues, including driver side window, not rolling down radio staying on while the car is shut off and door open and bluetooth issue along with jerking of vehicle in motion.

Seat Belt problem #4

Seat belt clips are not present, they have been cut out of the vehicle.

Seat Belt problem #5

I purchased this car on Feb 23, 2024 brand new - I have had trouble on numerous occasions trying to unbuckle my seat belt - the seat belt is too far down between the seat and the middle console making it difficult to manuever - if there were ever an emergency where I had to get out of the car fast - this would be extremely unsafe and problematic.

#1 - safety issue of the passenger rear door's lock will not lock/unlock (button will not go up and down) to be able to get in or out of car from the back seat - the 'motor'? can be heard engaging when either the door lock/unlock button is pressed or the key fob is pressed to lock/unlock - but the button is stuck in a position that you cannot pull it up to get in or out of the car. ------ #2 - safety issue of the back seat safety belts near door continues to twist within an area that cannot easily be gotten to, causing the safety belt to not be able to be pulled out or retract - making them unable to be used, as they are jammed and cannot fit around a person to lock into the clasp to hold them into the back seat. Safety issue of the passenger rear door's lock will not lock/unlock (button will not go up and down) to be able to get in or out of car from the back seat - the 'motor'? can be heard engaging when either the door lock/unlock button is pressed or the key fob is pressed to lock/unlock - but the button is stuck in a position that you cannot pull it up to get in or out of the car. Seat Belt problem #13

This vehicle was sold to me with only one buckle fastener in the backseat when there’s three seatbelts. It somehow passed general motors and the dealerships as a “safe vehicle”. I’ve been trying to get in contact with a manager since the beginning of this year and received no response. I’ve included photos of the multiple attempts of contact and back seat with only one buckle. I want the car to be taken back immediately as the dealership is careless and unresponsive.

Seat Belt problem #14

The rear middle seat belt locks up if you fold the back seats down to haul anything. You can't get the seat back up without taking it to the dealership. Hadn't had my vehicle a year and then they want to charge me almost $500 to repair. A seat belt locking up is a serious safety issue.

Seat Belt problem #15

The rear seat belts have been replaced several times because they have failed to retract. The vehicle has a little over 50,000 miles.

Seat Belt problem #16

In passenger front seat when someone is sitting there the seatbelt will just undo on its own at times. Also the person will weight over 100lbs and the air bag light indicator will go to on and off.

Seat Belt problem #17

First problem with my Trax 2017 was when my elementary school kid pulled the seat belt to snap her booster seat and it never rolled back. Stays stretched and doesn't retract. I thought it was not a big deal and moved her on the other side. Yesterday I got the engine light on and my car just slowed down for no reason. I was already scared and wondering if it is safe to drive with the kids on the back but was on the middle of the road with no place to pull over so I kept going but my car would no go over 30mph. 5 minutes later it got better. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow but its over an hour away and don't even know if I should drive or have it towed.

Seat Belt problem #18

On Tuesday March 20th, 2018 the 2015 Chevrolet Trax in which I was a front seat passenger was stuck from behind by a 2012 Dodge ram full size pick up truck. The seat belt that was restraining me failed to restrain the forward motion of my body at impact. The seat belt did not tighten up, it allowed my body to be propelled forward unrestrained. I suffered a neck injury and was also diagnosed with concussion type symptoms at the er. The vehicle was at a complete stop waiting for oncoming traffic to pass when it was stuck in the rear passenger side by the pick up traveling at an unknown speed.

Seat Belt problem #19
