While driving at highway speed approximately 70 mph), the vehicle suddenly veered into an adjacent lane without any steering input and began swerving back and forth uncontrollably. I did not make any steering corrections that caused this behavior. After approximately 10 seconds of back-and-forth swerving, the vehicle straightened out on its own. No collision occurred, but the incident felt life-threatening. I’m grateful no vehicle was driving next to me, or I would have likely died or been severely injured in a car crash. It was terrifying. Note: this was a rental car through avis.

I am unable to control my vehicle. Something in front end of vehicle pushes and pulls the vehicle from left to right without being able to regain control. Loud popping and clunking while turning. . Braking has also been a majoir issue along with suspension/steering issues. I would greatly appreciate these things to be fixed immediately beings there has been a recall years ago and I was never notified!.
Turbo charger/super charger is not following sufficient air. The vehicle does not excelerate, and slowed down in the middle of traffic. I had to turn the car off for 15 minuetes. Before I could drive home. Check engine light continues to disappear and reappear for the last 60 days. Diagnostic code p0299. GMC will not cover the cost under special coverage, known issues with 2017-2018 which GMC has special coverage.

Was making right hand turn which causes vehicle to straddle shoulder for a brief period of time because of how lines are painted. Auto steering resisted the manual steering to get into the lane properly and pulled vehicle onto shoulder further which lead vehicle to be pulled into the ditch.

It’s either my ball joints or the suspension or the arms. But they have a recall of the same exact issues I’m having but my car isnt part of the recalled list. But I am having the same issues and I’m at 109k miles. And I wasn’t in an accident. It actually started happening after I had my car in the shop to replace my turbo. Since ive gotten it back it sounds and drives horribly and from what I’m hearing its my ball joints or suspension or arms to that.
Steering wheel frozen in position on morning cold start below 20 degrees fahrenheit even when car is put in drive. I must warm the cabin for 15 minutes to thaw the steering column or manually pull down on wheel to loosen the column. Below 10 degrees, steering wheel is firm and power steering does not return wheel to original position going around turns unless physically coaxed. Problem goes away at warmer temperatures or if cabin stays warm. Chevy dealership replaced steering rack under warranty and recommends steering column kit be replaced. Will replace column by next fall. Problem started at around 60,000 mi. No warning lights or error codes when frozen.

The steering failed causing the vehicle to not be able to turn left. The dealership replaced the entire steering column to correct the issue. The failure happened while being driven by my daughter nearly causing a crash. She was able to stop and back up in the road as the vehicle would turn right but not left. The issue after the initial incident cleared up and did not affect the vehicle operation until the next day when it happened again. The second occurrence is when we took it in for service.

The affected component is the design of the cruise control engagement button, and yes it is available for inspection. While the vehicle is below a certain (unknown) speed, if the cruise control engagement button is pressed, the cruse control engages at a relatively high rate of speed, and the vehicle lurches forward. This is especially problematic due to the design of the switch, which is a protruded lever-type mechanism that is easily swiped while the steering wheel turns. Due to this design, a significant risk is posed for injury and fatal accidents. I have had several instances where this has occurred and I was forced to react quickly to avoid an accident. And I've only owned the vehicle for 9 months. This problem seems to be inherent in the design, and is likely reproducible on any 2024 chevy Trax, and perhaps other chevy models with the same design. This vehicle has never been inspected. There are no warning lamps or other symptoms, besides the design of the cruise control system. This has happened since I bought the car brand new from the dealership.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel occasionally seized. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, and the contact was informed that the vehicle was operating as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the same local dealer, where a software update was performed, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
I'm contacting NHTSA to make a recall request on chevys 2020 Trax . Less than 3 years old and has 23,300 miles , the chevy Trax needed both control arms, both side tie rod ends , 2 alignments. I'm going to say to NHTSA I think chevy didn't manufacture the 2020 Trax with strong enough front suspension and steering parts. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the both front bottom control arms . I asked the ourisman dealership to give them to me after the repair was paid they didn't give . And the ourisman dealership said it was only one bad inner tie rod end but both where bad . I had the tie rod ends replaced at independent service center and they kept and gave me the old bad tie rod ends. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? if these parts broke off during driving would be a deadly crash of multiple vehicles especially on a interstate. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes by to ourisman dealerships and one independent service center. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? by the chevy dealerships but they didn't give me the parts after the repair but I did ask for the parts. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no, didn't.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph, the check battery light illuminated and the instrument panel lights started flashing before the power steering failed, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and drive into a ditch. During the failure, the front seat passenger sustained an injured neck but did not require immediate medical attention. The vehicle was later towed to the home. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was contacted, and a service appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 55 mph, the vehicle experienced a loss of power of steering assist. Additionally, the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 15v146000 (steering). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,000.
Even after I rotate my tires have a front end alignment and stuff it still poles to the left after driving it for a day but but I am told there is nothing wrong with the car and I'm told everything underneath the car is fine it's been doing this since I bought it with 20,000 miles now it's got 48,000.
First my engine went out; replace with used engine $5,000. One cv joint went out; replaced $1400. Differential bushing went out; auto shop said he can't find bushing; has to replace whole differential $3,800. I'm sure I'll have to replace the other cv joints soon. This car has 128,000 miles on it. How does an engine and turbo gets ruined? that damn car was $21,000. Now the repairs are almost as much as the stupid car.
When it gets very cold and I go to start it in the morning for work the steering wheel won't move or sometimes it will but it's like trying to turn a cork screw out of a bottle when tring to steer, but when it warms up it's fine.
The steering of the vehicle is very tight and it doesn't spring back when turning the wheel on its own like most vehicles do . You have to manually bring your steering wheel back for the wheels to turn straight again. . And this isn't normal by any means . . . Also, the turbocharger in my vehicle isnt working correctly and is causing my check engine light to be on even after engine codes have issues have been repaired. I've changed air filters. . I've changed mass air flow sensors. . I've changed the intake manifold and the engine light comes back on after accelerating. . The engine code that keeps coming back on and returning is p0299. . This is an issue with the turbo boost. . And this is also something that has been recalled for other model chevy lf the chevy Trax. . My vehicle issues are recalls that are being done on other chevy Trax but they're not being recalled for my model of the chevy Trax as obvious that these recall issues pertain to my vehicle as well. . I know there are recalls on the chevy Trax which are having these exact issues except my car isn't listed on the recall list. . And without a doubt it should be because these issues I'm having go hand and hand with other chevy Trax models that are receiving recalls for these exact same issues.
2017 Chevrolet Trax mileage 35,703 November 20, 2022 ( second incident)while driving 50 mph on a highway, I lost power steering, acceleration, and dashboard instruments( speedometer & tach) failed. Dashboard message advised of loss of power steering. I was able to drive about one mile before I could safely pull to the side of the road and after stopping the issue resolved itself but check engine light came on but turned off within a 24 hour period. Later found out my son had experienced the same issue with my car one month earlier. December 6 th- took it to dealer who could not replicate the problem and was unable to provide explanation or solution. This was a frightening safety issue- luckily there was not a lot of traffic when the problem occurred. I am very concerned about driving this car and having this happen again.
When attempting to make a right turn, the steering wheel will only go so far (it feels stuck) unless pulled hard to the right. After making the right turn, the steering wheel and does not automatically go back as it ahould. This issue has only started within the last week or so.
My vehicle has been giving me such a headache! I purchased the Trax in (12/2021) and it has been in the shop for the same issue multiple times. It went in the shop in July and I did not pick my vehicle back up til September (2mths). The problem its having is the power steering keeps locking up and the engine and power steering lights keeps coming on. Once I come to a stop it will not pick up speed its liking I'm just sitting still and when it does start to go its taking a very slow time. I almost been in multiple accidents due to this issue. After spending thousands of dollars on rentals and chevy service department, the issue still remains. I got the car out the shop in September and took it back a week later for the previous problem and they still cant find what is causing this problem. As I type this my car is back at chevy service for the same issue its been in there since (10/8/22) and I had to spend more money for a rental. This problem is becoming a burden on me and affecting my job. I require a vehicle for work. I need answer to my problem ASAP or issue me a new car.
The service power steering drive carefully light came on. The traction slippery when wet icon came on . My odometer said I was driving 0 miles per hour had no idea what speed I was going. I was close to dealer one block from dealer I lost all power and steering. Luckily I was able to get off the road. Had car towed to dealer.
Something broke onthe suspension and I lost control of the car.
The contact's wife owns a 2017 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated when attempting to make a left or right turn when the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact mentioned that as the failure progresses an abnormal noise was heard when the failure occurs. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the steering gearbox to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25,600.
My car always randomly doesn’t want to speed up. All the lights turn in and constantly tells me service power steering and brakes drive with care. It says something about electrical. I have taken it to chevy they tell me they don’t know what is wrong with my car. They charged me 350$ to fix something they thought it was but it wasn’t it because my car still does the same thing. It will even stop telling me how fast I’m going.
Ac delco manual rack and pinion this is the second time it’s been replaced in 3 months these are all the part numbers that are on it a118338053, 2110200000000x, 812563302, 4250 8252 the steering wheel knuckle that connects to the steering shaft from the rack is breaking down with every bump it gets worse it’s going to eventually cause an accident this is the 4th time I’ve tried to make contact about this issue as the first 3 times gm has completely ignored my messages and I don’t want this to get any worse it’s at the point I can’t drive the car right now and I already paid to have a new one put in plus the part and I’m out all that money and still paying on a broke down car I don’t think that’s very fair if we can get to this as soon as possible much appreciated thank you.
Tires, suspension, water pump, water pump belt, thermostat alignment very often change tires because of alignment.
