The oem hankook dynapro hp2 tires (size 225/60r17 99h, dot 15mjf bu ha 2523) installed on a 2024 Chevrolet Trax developed premature tread wear and sidewall weakness well before half of their rated 65,000-mile life. At approximately 33,900 miles, one tire suffered a nail puncture in the sidewall and was confirmed irreparable by discount tire in houston, TX. The shop also noted uneven tread wear consistent with early degradation. The condition creates an elevated risk of tire failure or blowout during regular driving. The tires have been properly maintained at recommended pressure, used under normal conditions, and never abused. No tpms warnings or visual damage were noted before the incident. Hankook tire America was contacted for warranty support but denied all coverage, citing an oem exclusion despite earlier correspondence indicating potential incentive coverage. The company declined inspection or goodwill replacement. This outcome raises concerns about premature wear, sidewall durability, and the adequacy of manufacturer support for oem-supplied tires. The affected tires remain available for inspection if requested by NHTSA.

On February 21, 2024 my driver side front tire exploded, I was in walgreens packing lot. I had my vehicle towed to the dealer and asked what happened was just told I needed a tire. On February 26th, I noticed the back passenger tire had a bulge, again I took to the dealership and they told me I needed a tire, I suggested that the firestone tires may be defective. On Tuesday February 27th I was sitting in my vehicle on my lunch break and heard a pop, I get out of my car and the tire exploded along with the hub cab. This was the back driver side tire. I again took to the dealership and was asked was I going over potholes. Twice when parked the tires just exploded. Very frustrated considering I put 4 new tires on my vehicle in October and in less than one week, I've had to replace 3 tires to the tune of $955. 55.
