Speed Control Cable problems of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Me, my husband and my mother were on the turnpike going to the airport about 3 hrs from our home. . . We were half way there and my husband said to us. . I think the throttle cable or something broke I just heard something snap and the gas pedal is stuck. . . And I don't have my foot on the gas pedal. . . I asked him what we were going to do. . He told me that if he couldn't somehow lift the pedal with his foot he would have to put the car in neutral and we would try to slow down and hopefully we don't wreck. . . He was able to lift the gas pedal. . . He said that he hoped he could control it by doing that the rest of the way to the airport. . . My husband turned on the cruise control to help and had to constantly use his foot to pull up on the gas pedal when we got off the turnpike to the airport and then 3 hrs back home he had to repeat the same process. . . . We took the van in to the repair shop the next day. . Thank god my husband drove that day because I would not of known what to do. . . I have had night mares that I accidentally run over my kids in the drive way because of the gas pedal getting stuck again. . I am afraid of my own van. . I take the kids to school every morning and I see the parents and kids in line,also I take my kids to sports baseball and football lots of family's in those parking lots and parks and think. . . Will today be the day I accidentally run someone over because the gas pedal will break again. . . I see these same vans around town and I wonder if their van could have this same faulty part and will it eventually get someone killed. . . There is no guarantee that the pedal replaced is not just as faulty. . . . I just pray that Chevrolet looks into this dangerous gas pedal design. . . This will kill someone and I can't just stand by and not speak up about it. . . People need to know that there is a design flaw in the gas pedal. . . Please do something before it takes someone's life. . .
