Tamara recall we were in an accident, we hit a 190ib deer at 70mph and the air bags did not deploy. Was driving on interstate 49 south.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander. The contact stated that while driving 28 mph, she applied the brakes and the sliding passenger door detached from the vehicle, falling onto the highway. The dealer was notified, but suggested that there would be a cost to repair the vehicle and the contact felt that it was a manufacturer?s defect. The manufacturer was contacted, but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileages were 70,000. The consumer's insurance company stated it was a manufacturers defect and they would not cover the damage. The consumer stated the vehicle has a severe short, which prevented the door from locking, the lights went off on the dash, and a dinging sound, but nothing happened. It was suppose to make a sound when the door opened, but there was no sound. Every 10-11 months the brakes and rotors had to be replaced and the alternator failed. Updated 07/09/12.

I have a 2008 chevy Uplander which has developed a severe banging of the rear axle through the rear tailing arm bushing the manufacturer is well aware of the failure of the rear trailing arm bushings in this vehicle and with all models with this type of rear axle. The vehicle sounds as if someone is pounding on the bottom of the frame whenever I hit any size bump at any speed. I know that the manufacturer is aware of this specific problem because chevy has issued a revision to their mechanics repair manual with an addendum numbered pit3323e. Which states that:" if no problems are found with the rear suspension components after thorough diagnosis then replace the rear trailing arm bushings" this addendum goes on to state that "a visual inspection of the rear trailing arm bushings may show no fault" I believe that I should have this defect repaired for free or at a discounted pro rated charge. But, no I am dropping the car off tommorrow to have this repaired at the cost of $ 380. 00. I feel that a t. S. B. Should be issued so that owners of these cars should have their repairs done at a fair prorated charge. Unfortunately its too late for me because the noise and jarring of the body upon hitting a small pebble in the road has become unbearable and I have to bite the bullet,if only for my own sanity. Oh, p. S. I have replaced two sets of shocks in the rear since the defect was impossible to detect by any means, whether it be a visual inspection or by jacking up the rear and physically manipulating and trying to obsrve the operation and action of the axle to duplicate the noise. No such luck!!!!!!!!.
Alternator went out ,rear passenger door fell off the top hinge hit the payment, brakes started falling again.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander. The contact stated that the sliding doors on both sides would open independently and would not close completely. The contact mentioned that every time he forced the doors to close, the alarm activated and he was unable to disengage it. The dealer was contacted who stated that they were aware of the failure and were unable to find a feasible remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage 60,000 and the current mileage was 140,000.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Uplander. The contact stated that the rear driver side sliding door would haphazardly open while the vehicle was in motion and could not be closed securely. The vehicle was taken to the dealer approximately eight times for the failure where the dealer replaced several unknown parts and readjusted the alignment, but to no avail. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer so they could inspect the failure and continue with an adequate repair. The failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.
Dash indicator shows side sliding door is open, when it is not. Bells ding, inside lights come on, doors become inoperative from inside vehicle. Has occurred approximately 50 times. We have had in shop somewhere between 10 and 15 times, both door modules have been replaced, and body control module now being replaced. Chevrolet states that it doesn't set a trouble code, so they have no record of the occurences, though service department manager has seen this happen in person. My concern is when this happens, my wife, myself and or children cannot get out of the vehicle, and I feel this is unsafe. Chevrolet does not agree that this is unsafe. I really want to move on to another vehicle, but Chevrolet will not assist. The vehicle is paid for, free and clear, so this is not an issue of owing money and wanting out. Chevrolet should make the vehicle safe, and is not doing anything to ensure this. They have been handling this under warranty, but this last time vehicle is in shop for two weeks - no loaner, no alternative transportation for us.
