2 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 05/10/2021

My vehicle started making a scrubbing noise with the steering wheel as I was driving and this noise got even more noticable as I made any turns . I stopped and cked the power steering fluid and it was !t full level. Now it makes a wooing noise as well. Also upon starting off from a traffic light or stop sign I experienced a terrible jerking sensation with a knock sound. The van has been serviced for reg maintenance over the years and deemed mechanically ok ,other than a few reg matienance issues and my sister sold me the van in good condition . I am concerned with this steering condition now as well as the slow start jerk/knock. It has only been serviced thru the years at Chevrolet dealership. Mainly in marion, va. Chevrolet. Both issues occured while vehicle was on the road and running. I am concerned she ,my sister may have missed a recall notice at some point. Now I am the owner of the Uplander 07 van.

3 Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 03/17/2020

I recently purchased this vehicle in March and about 3 days after purchasing and I noticed that there was a problem with controlling the steering wheel. There were a lot of shaking in vibrations and it seem to wander across the road back-and-forth I take iti took it to a local tire shop and I have attached the documents that they gave me regarding what needed fixed on the vivo I began making repairs doing the inner and outer tie rods the sway bar links the control arms thee in transmission pushing motor mount on the front loweri didn't oil change. They're still an issue with control on the steering wheel there's lots vibration and the car seems to want to pull to the right or of the left when you accelerate there's a loud clunking noise when I put the vehicle into gear or when I accelerate or decelerate. It also like the car is leaning to the right on all different road types it doesn't have to be just an incline road or went 9a just driving down the road it randomly falls to the right I have then everything that I can I have taken the car in for an alignment and replaced a tire on it and it is currently in the shop trying to be diagnosed I feel this is a huge safety concern because it sounds and feels like the tire is going to just go off while I'm driving I don't know if this sounds are coming from the front or the back I don'twhat I can do to rectify the problem but I do not feel safe when driving this vehicle I put a lot of money into it and like I said I just purchased it so any help would be greatly appreciated I don't know if it's in suspension issues brake issues transmission and shoes ah if it's I don't really know what it is but I need this problem fixed a as applease please please help me. It didn't appear to do this all the time when I got the vehicle a month ago but it has gotten worse to now every single time I drive the vehicle it's very scary.

4 Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

When I stop at a light or come to a complete stop, then as I go to accelerate to drive the car here's very badly and causes cars behind you to capable hit you. What is going on with my vehicle.

5 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/01/2020

My 2007 chevy Uplander has become unsafe. Multiple mechanics have given different guesses as to what the problem may be. When driving, if I stop at a stop sign or red light, or even during stop-go traffic, the van will suddenly jerk when I go to accelerate. Sometimes the jerk is incredibly forceful as if I have been hit from behind. Two mechanics have recommended a complete transmission replacement but say that they have had similar complaints from other owners of the same make/model vehicle. Because the van does this, it is hard to accelerate immediately from a stopping point. This causes unsafe driving/traffic conditions as I can not be certian my van will immediately accelerate when needed.

The motorized doors will not close. The dealer said that the motor is not strong enough for the doors to close. The dealer put in a new one when I had 23,000 miles on and said that this is very unsafe. It is now doing the same thing again and I only have 85,000 on the car now.

Takata recall 2007 cheverolet Uplander lt when you pull out the transmission slips or doesn't kick back to first gear. ( slips out of gear). Very dangerous when pulling out into traffic. 14 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

When I'm stop and I press on the accelerator the van jumps or it starts shaking I took it to the dealer I was told it was the trasmission. They did a full service oil change and everything on the transmission. And it continues to do the same thing when I press on the gas pedal it doesn't get the next shift and it jumps my passengers get scare it fells like someone hit us from behind . Nothing pops up on the dash board no check engine or anything it's the transmission and I don't want to put money in it . It does it everyday I don't want to drive it I'm scared it won't go when I try to accelerate or it won't get the next gear and I'm going to drive 10 mph.

16 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/19/2015

A friend was cleaning my 2007 chevy cargo Uplander van and did not know the child safety lock was on. The door slid closed due to the van being parked on a hill while he was still inside the van. There was no way out! both side doors were locked and the back hatch door has no inside handle. This person was in the van for over an hour banging on the doors and screaming for help in over 90 degree weather in georgia. He described the incident as "he thought he was going to die"! luckily someone heard him and rescued him. He was ringing wet with sweat and was severely dehydrated. This could have been a fatal accident if someone had not heard him banging on the doors.

17 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 07/13/2015

Several times since purchasing my 2005 chevy Uplander, the ignition has just shut off. Normally this was when idoling so I wasn't too sure. However, it just turned off when I was driving 65 mph on a major expressway in chicago. This could have been catastrophic. This ignition switch is the same one that is currently in the gm recall, yet it has not been recalled yet. Please recall all vehicles with this ignition switch as most vehicles have already been recalled. Why wait on the recall until more people are in accidents and possibly die? it isn't worth the risk.

18 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 03/10/2015

As I am driving the electronic sliding door on the passenger side starts to buzz like it does when the door is opening and I can hear it clicking as if it is going to open. This has happened several times. I am afraid I will be driving down the highway and the door will open.

19 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/06/2015

While my wife was driving to work, and without any sort of issue to provoke it, the ignition came out of the run or on position, causing the vehicle to abruptly shut off. I did some research and found that this was the same ignition as all the other vehicles that have been recalled, yet this one was not on the list. Luckily she had her wits about her and pulled into the center turn lane. But the issue persisted, generally only when trying to start the vehicle or when shifting the vehicle into different gears (park, reverse, drive, etc. ). It cost me $312 to fix this issue between parts and labor.

20 Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/04/2014

Vehicle leaned to left when driven at 40 mph or above. Contacted gm hotline and advised to take to dealer for diagnostic. Took vehicle to local dealer on 9/8/2014 (wilson, nc) and was advised that right rear wheel assembly needed replacing. In addition, it was suggested that rear shocks and brake pads be replaced. Total costs were $1035. 09. I picked up vehicle on 9/11/2014 and noticed that leaning had diminished but still persisted when road slopes or curves towards the left. Have taken vehicle back to dealer three times and they insist that this is normal although I have never experienced this in the six years that I have owned this van. On most recent visit, service manager took van into shop for about 15 minutes and the problem has worsened with van feeling like a jalopy ride on uneven surfaces. The steering wheel now vibrates and makes a weird grinding noise if turned to more than half way in either direction. I now pray each time I must drive the vehicle because I am not sure that it will not tip over. Neither the dealer nor gm have been able to correct the problem and have made me to feel as though I am overreacting to the situation. I hope this report will help to address this matter for myself and other Uplander owners. Any suggestions you may have are welcomed. Sincerely veronica pickett.

21 Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 06/17/2014

Safety issue: the first occurrance date is an estimate, as I do not remember, but the problem has occurred again this night: for no reason at all the alarm began going off (of course in the middle of the night). I was awake. I live in a pretty safe park. At approximately 1230a the alram went off. I ran out to check and there was no one and nothing around that could have tripped it, especially since I didn't set it. The van was unlocked, the key out of the ignition and hanging by the lanyard. I grabbed the fob and shut if off. 20 minutes later, it did it again, then again, then again,t hen again, each time about 20 minutes apart. I was starting to panic because I didn't want to anger the neighbors and end up evicted. My spouse and I had to pull the horn fuse to silence the car. The lights went off about 20 minutes later, then the problem went away. . . I thought. I contacted gm about this and an issue with the locking system (doors will not unlock with either the fob or the inside switch). They apologized and offered to authorize repairs, but informed me that the cost of the repairs was my problem. It is possible that the two issues are linked. The lock problem came first. But because I cannot afford the cost of repairs (I am low income), I have to drive without the use of my horn, which is a no-no and a safety problem. Tonight, the lights started flashing on their own. They flashed twice, then stopped for almost a minute, then did it again a few times more, then it stopped altogether. Later, it did it again. . . And again. . . The lock issue is a health hazzard for me because I have a plethora of illnesses that cause me disability. I must pull heavy objects over the rumble seat to the single seat in front of it, get out of the car (painful to my knees and lower back), then get the item out. When I am finished, I am literally finished. I am caused phys. & mental pain.

22 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

It is difficult to pinpoint the first occurrence. Approximately 1 year ago, my wife mentioned that her 2005 Uplander would stall at random times while she was driving. She said there seemed to be no pattern to when it would happen except she was always moving and after stopping it would always restart. We took it to a mechanic who found now issues with the car. I started driving it and never had a problem, until the day I realized that all you had to do was tap the key and it would turn off. I put my wife's keys in and slightly touched her key chain and it turned right off. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Then I read about the gm recall on key cylinders for all these cars built around the same time as mine. I contacted gm and they told me our car didn't qualify for the recall. I then read a recent article stating that our Uplander has one of the recalled cylinders but they deemed it "safe" in our car. Safe is completely inaccurate. Any vehicle that is showing this problem should be fixed at gm's expense.

23 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

Starting soon after I bought the van, I ran into the issue of the passenger power sliding door not wanting to close. It would almost latch and then bounce back. I was able to fix the problem by opening and reclosing the door. This happens once to twice a week. I can find no previous service records on the doors on this van, but I cannot believe it did not occur with the previous owner. Based on the numerous other online complaints I have seen on this and similar issues, I have elected not to take it to the dealership. I do not have the confidence that gm could or would be willing to fix this problem. On that note, I am further disheartened by the fact that your own investigation resulted in service bulletins, letting gm off the hook for a clearly flawed design on the entire door and all of its moving parts. I am submitting this complaint to put it on record, any action will be totally unexpected.

24 Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

The rear driver door will not close. It has been to the dealer three times. The first time they were unable to diagnose. The second time we were charged $80 to clean the contacts. The third time they have recommended replacement of the motor due to an internal timing failure at a cost of over $1000. This door has been used very little since we have owned the van and it poses a potential safety hazard since it closes, the alarm sounds and then the door reopens on its own. The dealer reported that this is a common failure and that there is no way to adjust the timing on the motor without replacement.

25 Equipment problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 02/18/2013

On Feb 18, 2013 my door came off on my Uplander, along with numerous electrical error messages at the same time. I had my vehicle in the shop for over 3 weeks until I finally was able to pick up. I also had the engine stability and the air pressure monitor and air bag, and traction control repaired costing a total of $2,336. 00 dollars of repairs completed. After reading other complaints on this vehicle, I am trying to trade in my vehicle where I purchased it, but I owe more then what it was appraised for. I have asked the dealer for a trade, but they are not working with me. I am afraid for the safety of my family, and other vehicles on the road when operating this vehicle. Please, do not take this complaint lightly, and assist me in making GMC replace my vehicle as soon as possible.

26 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

Since winter of 2012, I have replaced 3 thermostats, 2 heater coils, flushed radiator numerous times and still have no heat. Mechanic is beside himself for an answer. The radiator gets plugged up with what looks like mud, which results in another radiator flush. He says radiator is ok because it's not overheating. What am I to do? I love my van but want heat. Please help sincerely.

27 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 09/10/2012

The rear sliding door on the passenger side came open while driving down the road with my two children in the car. This has happened on multiple occasions and the dealership has been unable to fix the problem. The doors continue to open without warning while driving. The car was purchased new on 6/7/05. I started having problems with the doors right away and took it in for the first repair on 7/7/05 with 980 miles. The doors were also repaired 7/25/05 with 1338 miles, 10/25/05 with 2,768 miles, and 11/4/05 with 2,865 miles. The doors continued to not open or close at times and/or the door chimes would ding and not turn off from 2005-2012. We tried to avoid using the car with the children and use our other car. In September of 2012 the problems with the doors progressed and at times it would take hours to get the doors to close or the chimes would not go off at all. This is when the doors started coming open while the van was in motion. The dealership worked on the van again 9/28/12 with 52,782 miles. From September 2013-June 2013 the doors continued to not want to open or close at times. We still tried to avoid using the vehicle with the children. The issues started again in June of 2013 with the doors opening while in motion. I took the van to another dealership on 7/2/13 with 60,873 miles to service the doors and flickering headlamps. On 8/2/13 I took the van to the dealership because the doors are opening again while in motion and I refuse to pick it up due to dangerous conditions.

28 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 06/01/2012

Sliding doors don't operate correctly or they open when moving. Passenger side door is now locked and will not unlock. Also have issues with the abs systems not working.

29 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 01/11/2012

I own a 2006 chevy Uplander I noticed that when coming from stop it would pull and would pop to go so I have had it checked numerous times have replaced c. V joints, strut mounds struts shocks and still was having the same problem so then I went and replaced all breaks and rotors I have had to replace them 5 times within a year and half I have given up so now the back ones are doing it again but yesterday the break light came on this is the first time I have the I also have the van saying emergency break is on, funny thing now is that when I go and push on it. It don't lock I release my foot off it and it comes right back up to the unlock position but breaks are locked and cant be moved. So I on here looking at all the complaints and I think I know the problem to the one for the breaks the emergency break lines and pedals as well as lines should be replaced and rotor and breaks by dealership as recall due to the fact that this is not wear and tear on a vehicle it is malfunction of emergency break.

30 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 03/24/2011

Car will not start without revving engine, sliding doors quit completely by both cables breaking within 2 weeks of eachother. I come from a long line of gm family workers and I will never buy gm again!.

31 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 10/30/2009

My car will only start on the first start of the day other than that you have to keep trying to start it. I usually have to lightly tap on the gas pedal to get it to start. At least 2-3 times a day it will keep turning over and die. I'm afraid that it will cause a fire or something because of that . I've taken it to a dealer at the 14-69 auto mall in fort wayne indiana and he told me that an excessive start in gm vehicles is very normal. I know quite a few people that have this same van as I do and every single one of them has the same exact problem . Bit it seems that no one knows what is causing it. I am afraid it may be an ignition or something similar to it . That k you for your time .

32 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 05/14/2009

Sliding doors kept messing up, dinging even after being closed, won't latch all the way.

33 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 04/02/2009

We purchased the 2007 chevy Uplander before doing any research. . . . Had we known what we know now, we would have not purchased it. Shortly after we purchased the vehicle the rear sliding doors began acting up. Sometimes they won't open and other times they randomly open on their own. When you close the door, it will stop mid-close, reopen then start closing again. When you think it is closed, it will just keep grinding and then pop back open. We were in nc on vacation when the door alarm wouldn't stop 'dinging' because the door wouldn't close all the way. Once we finally got the door to close, the kids would have to crawl through the rear hatch for fear that the doors wouldn't close again since we were so far from home. We have had the vehicle back to the dealer numerous times for this problem. . . They didn't find anything wrong with it! I even drove straight to the dealership within minutes of this happening. . . But when I got there it never happened again. Another issue we had was with the wiring harness failing at 35,000 miles. Luckily that was under warranty.

34 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 10/29/2008

The tension rods or whatever they are called that keep the hatch up, they both went out at the same time and the hatch came slamming down. Would have seriously injured or killed someone had they been under it. Vehicle only 2 yrs old! I've had 6 vans in my life and none have ever had this happen, this van has been a piece of crap from day one!.

35 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Uplander

Failure Date: 11/01/2007

My engine intermittently shuts off shortly after I start my car. Sometimes it does not do this for 5 - 7 weeks in a row, but other times it does this several times in a week. Most of the time it happens first thing in the morning, but sometimes it happens after work. It dies within 1/4 mile of being started -- generally while I'm still in a parking lot or just pulling onto the road. My car is parked outdoors and I live in a mild climate. Weather does not appear to be a factor. I bought the car used. It has been doing this since shortly after I bought my car. I took it to the dealership, but they said that it didn't happen when they started the car and refused to look into it further.
