Door Latch problems of the 1998 Chevrolet Venture

: the contact stated that the sliding door on the side of the vehicle did not latch properly. While the door was being shut, it simply rolled back open upon movement of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. A service dealer was called, who informed the contact to bring the vehicle in for service.

Rear locking latch plate broke without warning. As a result, seat belt did not lock.

Locking mechanism on van cargo door (98' chevy Venture) defective. Door can not be locked even manually. This was discovered by accident after a "repair" at a dealership. This is a safety hazard that according to the dealer is "not uncommon".

1998 chevy Venture 4wd/traction control LS, extended van. We repaired the first recall problem associated with the passenger side/side power door (door did not close properly/opened and the wrong time/would not close at all). Now the door will not open at all. We cannot use the two "switches" that would open the power door, and we cannot use the inside or outside door handles to open the door. This is a safety concern as well as a practical concern. If the door was so bad in the first recall - now it is worse.

Power sliding door opens after closing,sometimes I must disable powerswitch to keep closed. Paid $162,dealer found no problem.

Consumer took vehicle in for a manufacturer's recall 01013 on sliding door. Consumer felt problem was never corrected. Dealer indicated repairs were performed, sliding door actuator held door shut on 04/20/2001. Ono4/ 27/2001, door was not closing again. Dealer said they will not fix it again without charging consumer.

Sliding door latch to hold the door open failed, door slammed shut on childs head and tore ear, requiring stiches. Mjs.

While driving down a road stopped at light. Then when vehicle took off the sliding door came open. Consumer had to pull to side and fix it.

Power sliding door unlocked on its own and the open door lamp came on. Vehicle at dealer for 5 days still have been able to repair.

Consumer purchased vehicle, and later found out that the vehicle locks when the car is turned on. This appears to be a safety hazard. Dealer was contacted and stated that there is nothing that can be changed, the vehicle was made like that.

Numerous attempts to fix door have failed. Problem has occurred for over a year with door failing to close properly and latch or for door to close at all.

Door doesn't lock. Yh.
