Passenger side power assist sliding door fell off of the rear sliding roller guide after it froze half open/shut. The door has been making funny sounds when opening and closing for about two weeks. The door has also been opening back up when it tries to close. The outer sliding track has bent somehow? I am guessing it is part of the noise the door has been making. After disassembly of the door and the interior compartment, it was determined to be the actuator cables making most of the noise. The plastic liner on the cables had been stripped off and the cables had been balled up and they are starting to frey. I have rebent the track to accept the sliding rollers and I have removed the cables from the door to allow the door to open and close manually.

The latch on our power sliding door is not latching. I was advised that this problem has already been fixed, but the same problem that the recall was sent out for is what the latch is doing again. The door has opened up on us when we was driving on the road. We shut the power off to the door, locked the door and do not allow any one of the kids to use the door.

On July 8-15, 2004 I rented a 2004 Chevrolet Venture from hertz rental at the san diego airport. We loaded 4 small children, ages 1-5 years old into the van. As we were strapping all of them into their car seats, my 3 year old pushed a button that was just inside the automatic sliding door, on the passenger side of the vehicle. This button was to open and close the automatic door, and the door began to close with my son standing at the part of the sliding door that latches (the forward most part of the door). As the door hit his body and did not stop, one of the adults inside of the van pulled him into the van and to safety. The door was not going to stop and would have injured him. A day later, my brother was strapping my son into his car seat and someone accidently pushed the auto door close that was on the key chain. Again, the door began to close and did not stop for my brother (who is a 6 foot 3 inch man), and he had to jump out of the way. We were very concerned for the safety of our children and were very careful the remainder of our week long rental. However, we are very concerned that another child, or adult, is going to be injured in this van's automatic sliding door. We were curious just how far the door would go before it would bounce back open so we put a stuffed animal in the door and hit the auto door close button. I have to say, the stuffed animal did not fare well. We also put a large carrot and a banana in the door, in an attempt to simulate a small child's arm. The carrot was sliced right in half, and the banana was smashed and oozing out of its peel. I will never purchase a Chevrolet Venture after our experience with the van, but I do feel very strongly that the automatic door needs to be changed so that it senses when something is in it's way and bounces back open, otherwise children's safety, as well as adult's safety, is at stake. I do have several videos demonstrating how the door does not bounce back.
The owner had the automatic sliding door repaired at the dealership on four occasions. The door opened unintentionally, however the dealership stated there was nothing wrong with the door. After the owner pulled out of the dealer, the problem occurred again. No one was willing to assist the consumer with the problem. Also the all wheel drive system has gone bad and the sensors have gone out twice. Also, the abs light stays on as well. Provide further details.

It started the second week of June are 2000 chevy Venture van power sliding door stop working and was in the lock position and could not be unlock either by power or manually. I took it to the dealership and had to pay over 600. 00 to get that repaired. My problem is what if this happens again and I get into a wreck there would be no way I could get my kids out of car. So if you can help me with this I would apperiated it. I think that should have been something they could have pay for. Thanks.

Power door close even when someone is in between door and fram and open with out much effort by the handle on door. I called gm customer service line about my complaint and was told there wasn't a recall. I told them about the recall at first they said there wasn't a recall on the Venture vans again. After about a few days of being toldt that the recall didn't exist. I called NHTSA and your customer service gave me the campaign information which I gave to gm customer service. I was told that I would have to take my van to be check by the gm service people. I'm in the process of doin consider I have to get the hub bearing and the sender switch on my van fixed first. Mind you I haven't had this van a year yet! I will have to pay for gm to check, eventhough I have the passenger side power door and the second row bucket seating and my van was to had a 101 point inspection check and certified.
The seat belts did not work, they were defective. Took vehicle to the dealer three times, but they wanted consumer to pay for it. Consumer felt that manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs. Also, the sliding door motor on 1997 Chevrolet Venture is defective. Consumer paid for repairs 3 different times, but it kept breaking. Passenger side window switch failed. Wiper module shorted out. The vehicle abs light illuminated. The dealer found a bad connection at the ebcm. Also found both traction bulbs were missing.

The driver's door opened and closed on its own while the vehicle was in motion. Two different dealers inspected the vehicle and could not duplicate or correct the problem.
I have a 1997 Chevrolet Venture van. There was a problem with my power sliding door working improperly and opening on its own. There was a recall of the door during that time and the door was "fixed" by the dealership. The door continued to malfunctioned several times after that and was taken back to the dealer several times for repair under the recall. Unfortunately, with three small children and a full time job, I could not continue to take the van to the dealer to correct the problem. The door kept opening itself after being closed and then would blow the fuse and only operate manually. For fear of the safety of my children, I left the door operate manually and gave up on the power aspect of the door. The door is very difficult to open maually and requires a great deal of strength. Now, two years later, I contacted gm on the matter and they sent me back to the dealership(sylvester Chevrolet of peckville PA. ) and they "diagnosed" the problem as being unrealted to the recall. I do not believe this and feel that were the last ones to do any work on the door(recall) and it broke shortly after they"fixed"the recall. The dealer and gm are telling me that the repairs will cost $850 to fix. I feel any damage to the door was as a result of this recall and their inability to correct it. The dealer and gm have told me hey can offer me no help in this matter and if I want the door fixed, to pay for it. I know have to pay $350 for them just to put my van back together with no reapirs and the door still not working. Do I have any recourse in this matter?? thank you, tammy pitsman.
Non-power driver's side sliding door will not securely lock when in opened position. If on an incline the door will come back on you. This happened to my 6 yr ear old daughter, knocking her to the ground and causing scrapes and abrassions. Per our Chevrolet dealership's service dept as well as per a gm rep this is due to design and the dealership cannot correct the problem. I was offered $1000 off a new gm vehicle or a free oil change as compensation. The vehicle has been in the shop 5 times for the same problem which cannot be corrected by design. Problems began about 6 months after purchase. I used the last date the vehicle was in for service as the incident date.
Rear locking latch plate broke without warning. As a result, seat belt did not lock.

Passenger side sliding door does not stay shut properly. Dealer has worked on it many times resulting in re-painting door. Last time dealer had the car they were going to call chevy technical to have someone come look at it. I received a phone call two hours later saying that the vehicle was fixed and to come get it. All they did was put a piece of rubber on the door to keep it from hitting. When I asked why they did not call chevy technical as promised they said they didn't have to. When I asked for another "rubber bumper" for the door on the other side, they suddenly could not duplicate the product. The door will not always lock and unlock as it should and it still does not stay closed properly. If we do not use it for a couple of days it will be loose. First complaint was two weeks after purchasing the vehicle.
Locking mechanism on van cargo door (98' chevy Venture) defective. Door can not be locked even manually. This was discovered by accident after a "repair" at a dealership. This is a safety hazard that according to the dealer is "not uncommon".
1998 chevy Venture 4wd/traction control LS, extended van. We repaired the first recall problem associated with the passenger side/side power door (door did not close properly/opened and the wrong time/would not close at all). Now the door will not open at all. We cannot use the two "switches" that would open the power door, and we cannot use the inside or outside door handles to open the door. This is a safety concern as well as a practical concern. If the door was so bad in the first recall - now it is worse.
Manual sliding door fell off van when rounding a corner at low speed.
While driving at any speed passenger's sliding door intermittently opens on its own. Vehicle had been at dealer ten times for repairs.
6/repair to automatic, power sliding door as per recall. 2/serviced for automatic, power siding door bounces back when attempting to close. 5/repair to automatic power sliding door as per recall. 12/repair to automatic, power siding door as per recall 01059. 6/serviced for automatic, power siding door bounces back when attempting to close. 3/serviced for automatic, power siding door bounces back when attempting to close. 5/serviced for automatic, power siding door bounces back when attempting to close.
Power sliding door opens after closing, sometimes I must disable powerswitch to keep closed. Paid $162,dealer found no problem.
On two occasions when the automatic sliding door was opening passengers in the seat by the door got their arm caught in the door as they were sitting in the seat and the door was sliding open. Both passengers sustained pulled ligaments from getting their arm caught and jammed in the door as it opened. There is no safety mechanism to stop the door opening should someone get caught in it as it opens. Also, the electronic door opened while we were in a car wash. I had to accelerate and leave before the car wash was done because it was shooting water into the van.

We have had the auto slider door (rt side) fail 3 times. The first time in Nov 2001, the door would not close, so my wife had to drive with the door open to take to the dealer 15 miles away. The mechanism was hanging out the outside track! the second failure occurred Aug 9, 2002 when the door would not open. Took it to the dealer, and picked it up Aug 10 around 10am. The door was opened/closed about 7 times between Aug 10 and morning of Aug 13, when the door failed again and could not be opened! I contacted gm customer service on Aug 9 and again Aug 13th. We have also had ongoing problem with seat belt at seat behind rt side psr seat. We had total failure and the part was on back order for over 2 months! finally, a mechanic said he took part from a lot vehicle and replaced it. About a month ago the belt began working intermittently. We took it in Aug 9 for seat belt as well, and of course, the part is once again on back order. This vehicle has serious safety questions concerning this sliding door and seat belt. Inablility to get in/out of this vehicle when necessary is a great concern and risk to my family.
Passanger's door sticks since we bougnt the van new. Much worse in hot temperature. Dealership of no help.
Driver's side door will not shut or lock properly. Then, at other times, door will not work at all.
Parts for recall 01v26400 and 01v06700 repairs oncerning actuator for power sliding doors was not available.
While traveling at approximately 40 mph drivers side non-powered sliding door came open while there were 5 children in vehicle. Dealership examined sliding door and could not determine a reason for problem. Also, on June 5 2001, non-powered passenger side sliding door came open while vehicle was in motion with 2 children in the vehicle. Dealership again could not determine a reason for defect, and were unwilling to assist consumer. Also, consumer noted that child safety locking mechanisms were active on each occasion that this problem occurred. Please provide any additional information/attachments.
Consumer took vehicle in for a manufacturer's recall 01013 on sliding door. Consumer felt problem was never corrected. Dealer indicated repairs were performed, sliding door actuator held door shut on 04/20/2001. Ono4/ 27/2001, door was not closing again. Dealer said they will not fix it again without charging consumer.
Consumer received recall notification 01v067000. Dealership has been unable to receive parts from manufacturer to correct the defect.
I have had my 2000 Venture in for power sliding door repairs three times. The first two times the dealer attempted to fix the problem according to the safety recall bulletin. The problem still persisted, and was fixed when the dealer installed a new power sliding door motor and clutch assembly. This stopped the door from intermittent binding, and now the power sliding door opens and closes correctly. The dealer replaced the motor, clutch assembly, actuator and retainer. Dan kruse pontiac (the dealer) was very nice, and I wasn't charged for this service. To whom this bill went to I don't know. But, I have an extended warranty on this van. The reason I have submitted this report is that the safety recall on the 2000 Venture van may not entirely fix this problem. The "binding" problem that existed on the power sliding door may have weakened the power sliding door motor and clutch assembly to where it has to be repaired. The original safety recall on the power sliding door problem may not be complete yet. Thanks. **** dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****761006.
Passenger sliding door opens intermittently. Hood latch opened, and the hood flew and broke/spattering the glass.
Sliding door latch to hold the door open failed, door slammed shut on childs head and tore ear, requiring stiches. Mjs.
Rear manual sliding door closed without warning. Causing fractured skull and other injuries to 5 year old child.
While driving down a road stopped at light. Then when vehicle took off the sliding door came open. Consumer had to pull to side and fix it.
Power sliding door unlocked on its own and the open door lamp came on. Vehicle at dealer for 5 days still have been able to repair.
Consumer purchased vehicle, and later found out that the vehicle locks when the car is turned on. This appears to be a safety hazard. Dealer was contacted and stated that there is nothing that can be changed, the vehicle was made like that.
