In January 2022, I noticed white smoke coming from the engine and a mechanic said it was the water pump that needed to be replaced, so I have it replaced. Recently, I noticed the same white smoke coming from the engine and took it back to the same mechanic who installed the water pump. The mechanic said it was the intake manifold that caused the white smoke. I decided to take it to another mechanic to see if the first diagnosis was correct and that mechanic confirmed the first mechanic's diagnosis and my previous experience with another gm vehicle (1997 vhevy lumina) that had the exact same problem: water pump went out and intake manifold also started to fail until the lumina's engine was fried.

Car is losing coolant quickly, even though I have replaced the water pump about a month ago. Due to gm manufactuing, they only allow dex cool coolant for their vehicles but not everyone carries dex cool. Also, the oxygen sensor code need to be read oxygen sensor only and not with 4 or 5 other codes.
Tamara inflates includes my brakes as I have to press the brake pedal all the way to the floor and the van would still not stop. Also my driver's side window will not go down.

On the way to taking my son to work, I noticed a loud buzzing sound coming from the rear passenger side of my 2002 chevy Venture van. Upon checking the dashboard for a warning signal, there weren't any warning light's displayed. I just recently had rear brake work done and I'm not sure if that is the problem. Also, I have been noticing a loud pitched whistling sound that starts at about 20 mph and stops at about 45 mph. There is a rattling noise that accompanies the whistling sound when the car is in acceleration.

Cpsc: i1480097a. 1999 chevy Venture. Consumer stated that she has a defective vehicle.
Please investigate incidents of failure of the gm passkey/passlock/vats security system. Security light would flash and vehicle experienced a total loss of power. Problem occurred intermittently for the next several months, at various speeds. No accidents involved, but several near misses. Problem occurred very frequently in the past week, and now vehicle will not start due to security feature. I am using factory original keys, not replacements. Problem affects this particular make and model, but it is so systemic to gm, an entire aftermarket industry has arisen to bypass this security "feature. ".
Our 2001 chevy Venture minivan's windshield wipers failed to go back down; remaining up, on the sides of the windshield at about 150,000 miles. I am filing this complaint because I see many other complaints with the same or similar issue. We have not replaced the motor as yet.
While driving on the hutchinson river parkway at about 2:30 pm with my family, my wife heard a noise from the bottom of the car. To our horror, we saw cars behind us swerving to avoid a tire which was skidding along the road. We immediately exited and, upon looking under our 1998 Chevrolet Venture minivan, saw neither our spare tire, nor the plate that held in place. It appeared as if the cable that held the tire in place had completely and catastrophically failed, resulting in a potentially deadly situation. Fortunately for everyone involved the pavement was (for the moment) dry, it was daytime, the drivers behind were not tailgating (as is customary on the hutch) and the tire came to rest on the median, out of the lanes of traffic. We looped back and found the wheel on the median and, while we were trying to decide whom to call to report the incident (aaa, local police, etc) a westchester county police officer stopped to help us. He briefly stopped traffic and removed the wheel so that no one would hit it. As far as we could tell, no one was injured and there was no major property damage as a result of the incident (we have yet to determine how much it will cost to repair the wheel and the spare tire housing). Upon searching this site, we have noticed that a very similar problem has already been reported (a spare tire cable that has become very corroded) and believe our experience not to be an isolated event, especially in areas where salt is commonly used in the winter to keep the roads clear of ice. We recommend that general motors devise and implement a solution to this problem before lives are lost (and liabilities are incurred) as a result of this faulty design.
