One problem related to alternator/generator/regulator has been reported for the 2017 Chevrolet Volt. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When I try to turn off the car, I put the shifter in the park position and then press the stop button to turn off the car. The dash shows the car in park, but a message shows up saying, "the car needs to be in park before the care can be turned off". I can try several times and get the same message (p-d-p-d-p. . . ) the problem was intermittent and then continuous. The dealer replaced the shifter (described as a known problem) as I was concerned that I could not turn off the car in the event of an emergency (gas generator fire, electrical short, li battery overload, etc). Also, I could not lock the car until some reset condition occurs 10-15 minutes later.
