For the last two weeks, a "shift to park" message has been occurring increasingly upon vehicle power off. Vehicle has 29716 miles. Typically occurs upon parking the vehicle and shifting into park when the vehicle is at a full stop. Upon depressing the power button to power off the vehicle, a shift to park" message appears on the instrument cluster. (which is odd since the vehicle shift is already in park. ) the vehicle will not power down as long as the "shift to park" message remains on the instrument cluster. Attempts to clear the message from the instrument cluster do not seem to be detected. (tried wiggling shift; depressing the shift trigger; shifting to drive and back into park several times; open and closed door several times; depressed power button on and off several times with no apparent effect. Vehicle eventually clears the shift to park message and allows the driver to power off with no apparent connection to a clear cut method to manually clear the message. (there is no typical time that can be relied upon for the eventual clearing of the message from the instrument cluster to return to normal power off functionality. ) vehicle was taken to dealership. Dealership reported that the problem was in the shift mechanism. Dealership replaced the entire shifter assembly and jumper harness, n-harness and n-control. Bill for repair was $572. 26 . Dealership did not cover the repair under warrantee. Dealership also communicated that repair had no existing recall notification and could not be compensated by manufacturer recall.

Chevy Volt was driven into the garage with 10 miles left on the battery, the car was plugged into the electric charger for over night charge. In the morning in the attempt to turn on the car a message appeared stating. "not able to charge" "battery range 0 miles" "charging override/interrupt occurred" my husband came and checked out the car we plugged into our 110 Volt charge to make sure that it wasn't our charging system. Waited several hours still no charge. On star was called they could not collect any data because the car was totally shut down. Some time later possibly the next day (Sunday) there appeared a message. "charging override/ interruption a charging override or interruption has occurred due to one or more of the following events: * override of charging settings by vehicle owner via onstar. (this did not happen) * unintended interruption of ac power kath the vehicle's charge port. (also did not happen) *interruption of charging by the utility company via onstar as authorized by vehicle owner. (also did not happen) see owner's manual for further detail. " Monday morning car was towed to dealership. Dealership attempted to charge and run tests to find out what had happened. After five days they decided to order a part, not sure what the parts actual name was, something to do with an electrical starting module. Dealership says the problem is solved, picking up on the 6th day at dealership. Hoping all is well.

If the car loses power, and the doors have locked (do automatically), there is no way to manually unlock the doors. The plunger is recessed so much it's impossible to raise it to unlock. I contacted Chevrolet, they have no answer on how to overcome this. I have a friend who was locked in another type of vehicle when lost power, but could manually unlock the doors. Tv news this morning showed a person trapped in a car with no power, but was able to manually unlock the doors. The message was to learn how to manually unlock the car in case of emergency. Please see if this can be remedied, it may save lives. Thank you, grateful taxpayer.
