general problems of the 2013 Chrysler 200

Headrest popped out radio goes blank or completely then comes back on throttle body light comes on and stalks car after being replaced 2 times gas cap light comes on after being replaced 4 times.

The car randomly stalls while I am driving it. I lose all power to the car and the rpm's go to zero. I have to jiggle the fuse box and turn the key to the on position until I hear the fuel pump kick on, then I can start the car. I can tell when the car will stall on me when the rpm's fluctuate and the car stutters. My safety is put at risk to me and to other people because my car loses power while I am driving it. I lost power to the car four times this morning alone and almost got smashed by a 5th wheel truck. I have lost power on the freeway while my children were in the car with me. My husband is a mechanic and he thinks it is the fuse box that needs to be replaced.

The engine stalls without warning. The car is available for inspection upon request. There are no warning lamp messages or other symptoms before the engine stalls.

For the past three months my car shuts off while driving for no reason without warning. Some times even when I am at a stop waiting for light to change while trying to accelerate to go it just shuts off and have to wait for some time to try to start it again. This problem started around may of 2023 and I have not found a solution. Replaced fuel pump based on a article I read on line, but problem continued as of today 11-23-2024.

After starting the vehicle and going from reverse to drive the vehicle stalls out. After the initial stall and traveling a few miles, while stopping at a traffic signal the vehicle stalls out again and more times than not can accelerate at a speed higher than prompted. This is a frequent occurrence and other owners of the same make model and year that I have spoken with have the same issue.

While driving the car is in process. . The engine will suddenly stop (stall). I loose all power to the car and is unable to stop the car or control the speed or any other functions of the car. The only way to stop the car immediately is to manually use the emergency breaks. My 3. 6 liter engine is having the same engine defect as the 2. 4 2000 Chrysler 200 engine n52. . . Causing it to malfunction. Also sometimes when trying to start the car while turning the key in the ignition the engine begin to flood on its on and get completely stuck in that position. . And become unable to process to start and run. For about a year and a half I have been back and forth to the auto mechanic paying so much money trying to figure out what is going on with my car. Unable to fix of com up with a solution. My car has been more undrivable,in the shop and and unsafe then it has been driven. The last time I was driving my car with my [xxx] [xxx] child in the car the engine power failed and I was unable to stop . . We where coming on a 4 way traffic light going at full speed. . My light had turned red. Nothing I would do would stop or slow the car down. I'm so happy my child knows to pull the emergency breaks. . . He saved our life. This has happened multiple times b4 this last time but never to this extent. It seems the longer this issue is going the worst it's becoming. I began doing research on Chrysler 200 to see if anyone one else may have been having this issue to hopefully find a solution. Because this is my only car and I have put everything I have into this to get this car and to fix this car. . When I looked in to recalls I found that the 2. 4 liter engine for the 2000 Chrysler 200 was having the same engine defect as my 2013 Chrysler 200 3. 6 liter engine. . . So I would like to make a vehicle complaint about my car's engine defect causing the engine to malfunction which is a safety issue. My vehicle turns off like out of no where has done this three times also some oil is getting in the coolant take and when driving has a weird smell like gas or something.

Purchased car 8/03/21. Got full possession of car 8/18/21. The car shuts off while driving and backing up with no warning. It shuts off when you press on the brakes. When you come to a complete stop and then press on the accelerator , the car hesitates to move, then moves very slowly , jerks then starts to move at a normal pace . Engine light comes on continuously.

On 9/3/21 my car stalled twice while driving, no warning, no lights, then it restarted on it's own. I was in the middle of a turn with other cars approaching my car, could have gotten hit by another car. Unable to steer and horn with a low beep. On 9/4/21 st 7:30am while driving to take car to get checked out I thought I saw a spark where aux cable was inserted, I unplugged the cable, no burning smell or any other things seen.

Vehicle died while driving 40-45 mph in traffic would not restart until after sitting for 30 min to 2 hours. There was no warning before it died, it was running normally. After it restarted the service engine light flashed then stayed on solid for a couple days. I was told it was the crankshft position sensor so I had that replaced. The car then 3 weeks later while driving started chugging really bad. I was then told the ignition coil on #2 cylinder was misfiring. I had that replaced along with all spark plugs and car ran the same after driving 4-5 miles then died and no restart. The repair shop found the #2 ignition coil melted into the valve cover and it had also cracked the valve cover. They replaced the valve cover and the #2 ignition coil and it happened again. The car is currently at the Chrysler dealership and premliminary estimate is an electrical problem sending too much voltage to that cylinder. So far there has been 2 ignition coils melted. I have been without ability to drive my car for 4 weeks now. Please put a recall on this problem !.

Iv been having problems with my vehicle since March 1st been to 3-4 shops one let me know my car is doing everything in the recall for fuel problems stalls out on me while I'm driving and when it gets to under half way mark on gas gage it's like there is no gas in it crystler in auburn NY is no help they keep giving my car back when I tell them whats wrong and giving me the run around iv spent 3000 already to fix the problem they are not fixing it I keep stalling out while driving.

Driving on the highway with the car on cruise at about 60mph the rpms suddenly dropped to zero and the car decelerated to a stop. When I restarted I went about a quarter of a mile before it turn off again. Then on attempting to turn over again it would not start. After cooling down (in the turn lane of a busy highway) for about six minutes it finally started again and I was able to pull to a parking lot.

This is my second compliant, though I should've been complaining since buying this vehicle in June 2016. My car wouldn't start and the engine would stall, no battery issue. All of a sudden a month later it started. I took it to my mechanic he said the engine light said a catalytic converter. . . But the catalytic converter does not need replaced. I have have my serpentine belt replaced 7 times in the last 3 years. I can hear my engine shifting roughly. In the month I bought the vehicle, I took it to the dealership to see what was wrong and why my rpm was going up when parked and the engine would stall. They told me if I didn't use the different fuel (which I only did twice) that it would stop. I was stuck with the car, and still am. My �gas cap� light has been going on and off for years. I had my fuel system checked and a valve was replaced, sensors have been replaced. My engine now sounds worse than ever with knocking, whirring and shakes almost always. I'm told there is an electrical issue and/or the engine tensioner but no one can truly pinpoint the issue. . . . It's extremely frustrating. Please recall this lemon. I have told everyone possible to never buy this brand of vehicle. This purchase was the worst mistake of my life.

All of sudden I felt a jolt in the gear shift and then I lost power steering and I couldn't step on the gas to accelerate . So I pulled over the best I could, on the highway going 55 mph. I shut the car off and when I turned it back on after giving it a couple minutes it was turning over but not turning on. The engine was completely stalled. No warning lights or check engine lights. It was completely random. I had to call family to come pick me and my daughter up. After a few hours we came back a new tried it. It worked but after driving it an hour it did the same thing again. I checked the recalls for my car and their isn�t, however when I read up on forums and my car has the same issues as the other 2013 Chrysler 200s. With engine stalling and greater possibility of an engine fire. I think the make and model of the vehicle needs to be investigated. I had my toddler in the car and it was frightening. I'm diligent about keeping up maintenance on my vehicles and if any inclination and or warning I would've been at the mechanic.

Car is not picking up speed when your in drive, jerks badly, cuts off in the middle of driving, keeps killing the battery, drives about 5 miles an hr the max. Car has been at the Chrysler dealership for over 6 months and it is still not fixed. They are saying that it's still doing the same thing as when I brought it in. Nothing is being done to resolve the issues.

It died while driving on a highway multiple times. No check engine light no warning and no control of the vehicle. Repairs sometimes right away and sometimes after an hour or more.

My car quits on me while driving on the highway. Especially while slowing down. No warning lights or signs. This is very dangerous and scary! I took it to a Chrysler dealer they couldn't figure out what's wrong with it I've had this car since 2014. I always kept my car up. I don't understand what's wrong with it.

Car stalling while driving called recall said that my car doesn't go but it's losted under my recall.

Takata recall last time I was driving on the freeway going 70 miles per hour and the vehicle suddenly lost power with a semi truck right behind me and I had to swerve off of the road to avoid being hit and nearly causing an accident I do not feel safe in this vehicle and I'm in fear for my life.

While idling, driving at low speeds or in park, the car randomly stalls. Also while using the remote start, after turning the car on, it stalls. I have had several things replaced on the car, but it still randomly stalls.

Torque converter stopped working properly causing the car to stall while at slow speeds and breaking. This could be in urban and rural settings. Any example of slowing down, stopping, yielding, etc. Upon diagnostics it was found the torque converter needed to be replaced, as well as a pump (which one was not specified by the service e team) starting in early to mid October 2018.

I have a 2013 Chrysler 200 and within 1 year I had to replace the throttle body 5 times. Also to get only 16 mpg is not right on a 4 cynpynder car.

My vehicle will cut off/stall while driving, losing speed control. This has happened more than I can count. On residential street, main highways, and freeways while doing speeds up to 70mph. If I am able to pull over to safety I would attempt to start the vehicle and it would crank but wouldn't turn over. After 2hrs the vehicle would start. I've taken it into several dealerships to be diagnosed and they wouldn't be able to duplicate the issue. The dealership hooked up a tracker and said it was one thing and fixed it and the problem is still happening. First incident was mothers day may 2017.

Car acts as if it does want to accelerate. Makes a thumping jerking motion will driving. It'seems most noticeable while interstate driving hard hesitation trying time accelerate. Since purchased in September 2012 always drives sluggish on city highway; thumping was noticeable-chased it up to learning a new vehicle. Thumbing getting harder and frequent. . . . Like fast "thump jerk, thumb jerking, thump jerk"-. I always have plenty of gas. It happens with 87 or 89 octane.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Engine stopped while waiting at red light and would not start back up. All lights radio ect. . Were working. Car had gas. Got a hotshot, car started back up. The next day go to start car and it wouldn't start. 2days work missed. Upset$?!!.

The vehicle was taken to imperial valley Hyundai (634 thomas dr, el centro, CA 92243), but the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure became more intense after a year. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer and kept overnight for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. While driving between 5-10 mph, the coolant filler neck fractured. The contact stated that coolant fluid leaked from the filler neck. The car keeps stalling in traffic, get an engine jump then stalls. Chryslers techs can't even figure it out. Also stalls on freeways and is going to get someone killed. From what I see it's happening in these cars from 2012 to 2015 models everywhere. I'm very sick of going to the dealer and paying hundreds of dollars because of course it's always something not covered under warranty, how convenient. Then either right away or a month later the same issue occurs and get worse and worse. This needs to be addressed immediately.

Driving normal until I slow down or apply brakes. It shuts itself off, I put it in neutral on a complete stop and it turns back on.

The automobile shuts off while driving, horn blows at anytime, paint chipping on hood.

On approximately 7/14/15, upon accelerating from a stopped position, my Chrysler 200 hesitated on take off. I had to take my foot off the gas pedal and slowly try accelerating again, still with hesitation, but finally taking off. There was slight hesitation as my vehicle was accelerating, then the fuel seemed to catch up. This has occurred several times randomly since 7/14/15. I took my car to the dealership on 7/23/15 as it is still under manufacturers warranty, explained the situation, and they said they found no problems, that "no codes" showed up on the computer. This problem appears to effect the engine, fuel/propulsion system and speed control. I was very concerned each time this happened of being involved in a car accident. I will continue to be concerned until this problems is resolved. I intend to take it back to the dealership for further investigation into this problem.

Oct 2014 I remote started my car. My grandson was in the car, when I came outside I smelled a strong order of gasoline. Gas fumes was coming through the vents and gas was leaking, took to olathe Dodge they supposedly fixed it. 3 fuel injectors and loose hose. Jan 2014, same thing happened I was driving down the road this time a loud clang, strong gas fumes came through the vents and I parked and had it towed back to olathe Dodge. They fixed again. I got my car back and took it 2 blocks and it was smoking blue/black smoke really bad, I took it back to olathe Dodge. They called me 6 days later and said it was fixed, I took off work to pick it up got in the car the engine light was back on and could still smell gas. They kept the car and gave me rental and called back 7 days later. This time it was fixed. On Feb 17, I was going to hospital to see my new grandson, I got off work started driving and the gas fumes were back in my car. I kept driving to the hospital with the window down about 2 inches because gas fumes coming through vents. I left my car at hospital and called olathe Dodge. They said to bring it down to them. I drove it to olathe knowing that the fumes was coming through the vents. On Feb 18th I went to dr. Because my face was swollen and red. The dr. Said that I was walking in the cold, which caused me to get wind burned. I work in doors. I called poison control to see what I can do. They said that I should not get back in that car until it is fixed because that is dangerous. This is the 6th time that they tried to fix it. Everyone told me that this car is a lemon. I love my car and had high hopes that they would fix it. I have 3 grandbabies that ride with me in my car. What if this car catches on fire. . I would not be able to get my 1, 2, and 3 year old grand babies out of their carseats fast enough. . . God forbid . . . Please help me.
