1 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2023

A couple of years ago my passenger head restraint deployed while parked and would not reset. I was charged $652. 00 to re place. Chrysler later reimbursed me for this expense and extended my warranty for this for one year. Two days ago the driver side activated while the car was parked. That means the warrant extension had passed. Did some research and this is a common problem caused by the weakening of the plastic that is under pressure of the retaining springs. This problem not only affects the Chrysler 200, but 300s and several keep and Dodge vehicles manufactured between 2010 and 2015. It is just by the grace of god no one has been injured. Mileage was 78000 the first time and 106500 the second time.

4 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2022

Vehicle was at detail shop - parked. Employee moved seat to access back and drivers side head rest deployed. There was no collision. Unable to reset, as part is broken. Appears to be a major safety concern which could lead to an accident. I will be attempting to address this issue quickly as it represents a major safety problem. It is available for inspection for now. Had this happened while driving I believe an accident would have resulted. I will be contacting the dealer and an independent shop on Monday. At this time it has not been inspected by anyone official. No warning signs were noted.

7 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/22/2019

My wife and daughters almost died in a car accident due to the apparent failure of this vehicle. We were driving on an hwy at night and the car just died out of nowhere. Dash started to flash and just died. We initially thought that it was the mechanic that had just fixed the car but after an investigation concluded that it was not anything they could have done. My family sustained life-threatening injuries and almost did not make it out alive as thee were rear-ended by a truck. Then on top of it when they were hit no airbags deployed which is what caused the injuries to be so much worse. After reading multiple complaints on NHTSA about the same issue for the same year and make I am baffled that this issue has not been addressed. I almost lost my family.

8 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2019

Was stopped at a stop light when my passenger airbag deployed. Chrysler said the part alone would be $550 to fix - this should be covered under warranty, and ultimately, should not even be happening. Someone could have been seriously injured! I'm planning on trading in my car in the next couple weeks to avoid more issues like this; terrible terrible company.

9 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2019

Takata recall , catalytic converter recall, car airbag deflated, I called my dealer, bud's Chrysler Dodge. I could get a loaner car for the days they needed this repairs because I did not buy my car there. I need a replacement vehicle for 2 days because I travel outside the area with my job all the time. The car has been putting out some unwanted fumes and exhaust emissions at certain times as well.

10 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2018

Takata recall, have contacted the dealership many times since the recall back in 2016 and keep getting told that the parts are not available and then told that they were available when they are not, I have tried many times to get this fixed but the dealership is refusing to fix it just because I keep getting told that they would order the part and nothing gets done. I am starting to get aggravated and concerned for the safety of me and my family while driving . I am regretting that I purchased a Chrysler snd don't want to purchase another one again. I use to think highly of Chrysler and their products but dealing with this and causing a major headache has changed mind to not buy again. Just because of the way that I have been treated, my mom has the same recall on her Ford and Ford is paying for her to have a rental while they wait for the parts to be available for hers to be fixed. That to me tells how much they care about the safety for their customers. I have been driving around for 2 years with this recall just for nothing to be done. If I could take the car back and be able to get me different vehicle like a Ford, chevy I would. This has been a nightmare.

11 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2018

Recall s61. I purchased my car at carmax in 2017. Took it in last week for radio. They sent it to newark Chrysler Jeep on cleveland Ave in DE. While it was there I had ask to have recalls fix. According to my paper work it was completed on July 5th. Well today is July 11th and it still says I have the same recall on my car. I contact carman they went and pick up my car and took it to brandywine Chrysler where it still is. I have paperwork from newark saying they fix the recall. I'm very mad that it says its done but really hasn't. This is a recall something very serious as to that with seatbelt. No dealership should ever do this. Carmax has also stated to me they will be taking action with newark also regarding this. They had also stated they replaced my radio which they didn't.

12 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/29/2017

My airbags were recalled. I was never notified and was in an auto accident.

13 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2017

Car was drove 46 miles to work. When exiting car, for no reason the head rest splits into two pieces. I believe this car was manufactured using the recalled part (n38) or the replacement part was no better than the original. The vehicle was not moving, is in perfect condition, has no pings or scars. Community Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep in martinsville, in. Was of no help, their solution was spend $255 to change from driver to passenger, order a new head rest $388 on a three month back order and another $255 to install once arrives. There is instructions to reset, but the dealership said they tried to reset and could not accomplish. If reset, would it split apart again? should families risk lives being used as test dummies for the auto industry possibly killing your own family and others in oncoming traffic, while your neck is snapped forward and distracting your driving?.

14 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2017

First I have noticed my car delays and jerks when putting it into gear. This happens mostly in the winter. More recently my car tried to accelerate a couple times while my foot was on the brake. I took it into the dealership to have it repaired and they stated because they could not make the car do the same thing, they could not fix the problem. Second the recall on the air bags and seat belts was first published almost a year ago. This is my only vehicle and I have two children that are placed in that vehicle. I am scared for them as well as anyone that is in my car if I am to get into an accident. This is far too long to know about a problem and not fix it. I was going to trade in my car and try to lease another vehicle. Well now I can not do that as my car is only worth about $5,000 even though it is in excellent condition. I still owe about $12,000. So now I am left to drive an unsafe car that is known to be unsafe and nothing is being done about it.

Takata recall. . . I haven't experienced any accident's and I pray I don't, however I do not feel safe at driving this car knowing the defects that can possibly go wrong in it. I have kids that are my main priority always in the car with me and I'll hate to be in an accident and these defects take place this is not a chance I'm willing to take since I've found out these issues. As of now I'm showing that there is no resolution for the issues so I'm wanting to see about trading this vehicle in ASAP.

28 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

I was notified by mail that the occupant restraint controller was causing a loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability during a crash. I called Chrysler and was told that the parts would not be available to fix my vehicle for 2-5 months. I explained that this is the only vehicle that I own and I have a child riding with me. I drive at least 50 miles per day and I felt unsafe driving knowing this about my vehicle. They said there was nothing that they could do and that they would notify me when the parts became available. If there is a known problem that the seatbelts and airbags are not working properly in the event of a crash I feel as if they need to offer a option for the vehicle owners who use this vehicle as their daily driver. I feel as if they are not taking into consideration the safety of my daughter and I in the event of a crash.

30 Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2016

"takata recall". I feel very unsafe with this car and am afraid to allow any passenger ride due to this problem. I need to sell my car for my work and I am unable to trade in, even to Chrysler without a huge reduction in the value due to this recall. I received a letter in oct 2016 informing me about the recall. I was told by Chrysler customer service that the part will be available in June 2017. When I called in June 2017, I was told August or September of 2017. Each week and month that this is delayed, my car is depreciating and I am losing money by not being able to trade it in for my job. I cannot believe 1. 4 million people are accepting this delay by Chrysler. I would be happy to trade it in at it's value, but not for less than it is worth. What can I do?.
