1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/11/2026

My vehicle has an open safety recall related to defective headrests. The dealership never contacted me to perform the recall repair, and the headrests were never replaced. Mopar issued an extended warranty for this defect, but the dealership is now refusing coverage claiming it expired. The defect is now occurring, creating a safety risk, and the recall remedy was never completed through no fault of my own.

2 Equipment problem

The car would slow down out of no where there time when the car doesn’t go over 5 miles per hours and throws it self in park some times my door wouldn’t open with the bottons can’t open my truck.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2023

Both the driver and passaged (front seat) head rests have deployed. When looking inside them (parts are exposed since they have pooped and stayed open in a projected position) broken pieces are visible. Therefore, the headrests cannot be popped back into their proper position. This is extremely dangerous because the headrests could have deployed while we were driving. Also, the headrests no longer serve their purpose of providing safety to people riding in the front seat. There was no car accident or hit from the back. The headrests deployed (popped open like an air bag and cannot be closed) on their own. Many Chrysler 200 owners have complained about this safety issue. Chrysler should do something to help us consumers. I’m disappointed.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2022

The passenger headrest deployed without being in a crash. The car was parked. This could have caused injury if my passenger had her head rested. It also could have caused an accident if this happened while driving as it sounded like a gun shot or loud crash. No warnings went off.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/06/2022

Vehicle was at detail shop - parked. Employee moved seat to access back and drivers side head rest deployed. There was no collision. Unable to reset, as part is broken. Appears to be a major safety concern which could lead to an accident. I will be attempting to address this issue quickly as it represents a major safety problem. It is available for inspection for now. Had this happened while driving I believe an accident would have resulted. I will be contacting the dealer and an independent shop on Monday. At this time it has not been inspected by anyone official. No warning signs were noted.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/13/2021

Leaking oil from oil adapter housing. Hometown Chrysler told me that over 72,000 of these have been replaced. I was told that the car could catch on fire, so I left it a dealer to wait 2 weeks for the part. Why hasn't this become a recall?.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2020

My car shuts down without any warning. The horn blows randomly and it is hard to stop it. It is hard to steer when the cart shuts down. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2020

While I am driving my car, my car will just shut off. I can be on the highway doing 75 and my car will just dead stop. I lose power in my steering wheel, my brakes stop working. You can't even push the brake pedal down. Sometimes the car will turn back on when I try, other times it doesn't. Its been like this for the entire year ive had this car. Nobody can seem to figure out why.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2019

My driver's side head rest had been falling down for the past two months. I was sitting in my driveway, when all of a sudden I heard a boom. I wondered what happened. I was parked. Then I found the headrest had pushed out totally, stuck out by a piece of metal. I could not push it back. I called Chrysler and they told me it would cost over $450. 00 to reset it or get a new one. I tried to pull the whole headrest out, but it does not come out. I looked online and found there was a recall for cars up to 2013. But mine is a 2014. Does that make a difference? what is going on with these headrests. I've heard there are several complaints. I've had this car for 5 years and have one more year to pay for it. I am not trading it in. I feel chrsyler should fix this. For free.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2018

The car has a ticking by the right side I reported this to meinke and they let the warranty expire with silvercrest but its noted in my 30 day warranty with drive time.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2018

No heat on passenger side. It will not defrost my window on that side and very unsafe in these cold michigan winters.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2018

The car has heat on the drivers side but does not heat or defrost on passenger side of vehicle, therefore cannot see out of passenger side windshield took to dealer and they say that the heater core needs replaced, $1500. 00 later. I have researched online and this is a very common problem with the Chrysler 200 vehicles. I don't understand why Chrysler is therefore not responsible for replacing the heater cores.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2017

I was wondering if a safety device in a car headrest, designed to jump forward in a rear end collision, is a safety device that falls under warranty. My wife had one that malfunctioned in her 2014 Chrysler 200. There was no rear end collision. She stopped at an intersection in a mall parking lot. The headrest deployed, throwing her forward into the steering wheel. Chrysler is saying that since her car is no longer under warranty she will have to pay for the replacement of this faulty part. Models up to 2013 were recalled for the same microchip malfunction in the headrests, but 2014 were not recalled.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/16/2017

Takata recall when ignition turned off keep getting alert saying that key is still in ignition causing my electrical system to fail. It is not allowing me to readjust mirrors or anything. Any electrical connection isn't working due to error message saying key is still in ignition. I locked my keys in the car several times due to this issue and I am afraid to drive far due to the electrical failure please look into this. The vehicle was running when the electrical failure began and I was over 300 miles away from home.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2016

My car had a issue with one of the ignition coils malfunctioning causing the part to melt completely melt through the valve cover in Dec. 2016. This caused the car to stop while in motion and once I steered it off road, it smoked badly. At this time the car had about 52000 miles on it . As of June 2017, the recall dealing with the seatbelts and airbags have not been fixed nor looked at. I allowed the car to be returned via repo because I was out of nearly $1000 dollars paying the dealer to fix the car and pay for my own rental for two weeks while the corp. Office send the ok for it to be fixed!!.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2016

I have a 2014 Chrysler 200 touring. "takata recall" my air bag light comes on and stays on, I took it to the dealership where they told me that something has malfunctioned but refused to fix it. I have been dealing with this problem since my car has reached 30,000 miles. Not only that problem but my alternator has recently gone out at 50,000 miles. I will definitely not recommend this vehicle to no one.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2015

I was at a red light and was rear ended, speed limit was 35 mph he did not even try to stop. Head restraints deployed and hit me causing injury as well as anxiety.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

I was driving my 2014 Chrysler 200 to drop my father back home. My mother and sister were also passengers in the vehicle. This car was purchased on 10/29/2014 as certified pre-owned from the dealership with 5846 miles & passed inspection on 10/30/2014. I assumed possession of the car on 10/30/2014 after it passed inspection. The car had 8059 miles at the time of the incident. There were no issues with this vehicle since my purchase. I was quite startled when the vehicle lost power while driving on the freeway & started to decelerate in speed. The speed limit on the freeway was 70 mph. Although I pressed the accelerator, the speed of the vehicle continued to decrease rapidly. I remembered seeing my speed drop as low as 19 mph on the freeway; a very scary thing. The steering wheel also locked up, making it difficult to steer the vehicle to safety. There were no warning lights or battery lights indicating anything was wrong. Luckily, no one was hurt & there was a rest stop nearby that I was able to get the vehicle to and into a parking spot. The vehicle completely powered off as the car made it to the parking spot & was unable to restart after that. The engine was checked, but nothing was visibly wrong with the car to cause the car to malfunction the way it did. While waiting for the tow truck, maybe 45 minutes later from the approximate time when the vehicle malfunctioned, my dad mentioned that he was cold, so I tried to restart the vehicle again to turn the heater on. The vehicle restarted. My sister and I decided to drive the vehicle around the rest stop parking lot, and turned it off again to see if it would restart. It restarted with no problem and drove like nothing had happened. Even after the car restarted, there were not any warning lights illuminated on the dashboard. This situation was very scary because it could have caused a fatal accident.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2014

Driving on a well cleared interstate in light snow conditions, the rear of the vehicle sways back and forth like there is no traction while the front end has traction and tries to maintain traction. Once stabilized and only driving 20-25mph when going over a bridge or under and overpass, the little bit of moisture in those areas makes the rear of the car slide side to side. Driving over expansion joints in the highway makes the rear of the vehicle jump to the right. Driving is stabilized on completely dry roads or in town snowpacked but treated roads. The vehicle is unsafe to drive on interstates in even the mildest of any type of adverse weather. The car cannot be driven over 25 mph without out the rear end swaying back and forth. During this situation all other vehicles were driving at or near posted highway speeds without problem.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/04/2014

The engine light came on and the car was overheating the car was rolling backwards when at stop light . Problem was heat sensor. Transmission went twice on 3/10/2015 and 3/19/2014 both times I was driving with my granddaughter in the car and due to the deceleration caused by the transmission I was almost rear ended by truck behind me.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2014

I was driving on the thruway in upstate NY, two different lights came on and a noise sound came on one was a thermostat and the other was an h looking light and then my vehicle shutdown in the middle of traffic. A few weeks ago I had went to the Chrysler dealership and they completed an oil change and stated that I needed new tires. I've never had in issues in the three years I've been financing this vehicle. I'm still under contract and I'm not able to drive vehicle. Had it towed to dealership and they states it was the engine which would run me about $4800. As an military veteran I am on a set income and I'm not able to afford to fix this issue. Please help me to explore options if you are able. Thank you, lorraine.
