What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? • the parking brake randomly turns on mid driving especially on the highway. My car will randomly stop driving but the the radio and everything else is on but the car isn’t on if that make sense. When I go to turn it back on after it shuts off it stutters then finally kicks back on. My tire sensors are completely off , my airbag system is always saying error , seat belt system is always going off. I could be going 50mph and car will shut off mid driving. Yes it can be inspected for free. Especially if my car is recalled . How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? • my safety is definitely put at risk and sometimes others depending what my car does that day. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? • no I haven’t had no one to look at it has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? • no I haven’t been in a accident I do my best to get off the road were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? •seat belt sensor is on , airbag sensor is on , and check engine light is on. It’s been going on for about 2 months now there was no incident but I am very scared their will be. I do my best to be off the road but this is my only vehicle. I just seen an article my vehicle is recalled .
My car will not go into park. It will not engage. It is staying in gear. I called Chrysler Dodge Jeep in lee summit and they say that that has been repaired before there is a recall on it but there’s refusing to repair it. Never had that happen or had it repaired since I’ve owned the vehicle but unsafe and drivable dangerous I was stuck in the middle of the street for over an hour was very very terrifying. Can you help me figure out what they won’t fix this? control automatic emergency braking r08 I believe this is to the recall code I run the car for a while, and I have never taken it in for this I was unaware until it lost up on me my number.
Total suspension system problem, bad tire rods, bad swaylinks & control arms, total abs system problem, engine mounts problem, transmission mount & system problem, over idols at 0mph, seat material over wear & tear, carpeting wear & tear, auto paint fade.
As I’m approaching a steeper hill I go from 25 to 20mph as I try to turn the corner of the hill I feel the speed of the vehicle picking up as I’m trying to slow down without slamming on the brakes the vehicle takes off hits the curb then a utility pole before coming to a complete stop.
New tires on 3/3/2021. Mastercraft srt touring 225/50r18 95t. Right rear tire blew out. While exiting rt270 and rt80 exit 26 urbana MD.
My car keeps stopping in the middle of traffic. It has been serviced, but what ever the service department is doing its not working. This car is unsafe and as caused danger to my type 1 diabetic husband and myself. The car is now in my drive way. I have been having problems with this since since I purchased it in February 2017, and they never fix the problem. The car jerks and stops and starts when it want to. I have changed the batteries in the remote several times and have taking it to three different places for a diagnosis, and Chrysler cant seem to fix the problem when they built the car. I need help. I am still paying on this piece of a car. Everyone that has this car says they car does the same thing. So I know there is a recall for this vehicle. This car has stop and will not start at all.
While driving on expressway from michigan to nebraska car was making loud noises from suspension/tire area and took car into repair shop for inspection before driving any further. Was told that car had 4 blown out struts and front right wheel bearing. They said this was unusual since the car only had around 47,000 miles on it and a newer vehicle for such extensive damage and told must repair as car was unsafe to drive and could cause an accident. Repair was $2,000 for parts that should not have been bad on a car under 50,000 miles. Searching vehicle online and saw that Chrysler had recalled 700,000 of the same make/model in 2015 for faulty/defective struts and front wheel bearing. I checked my VIN and there were no recalls listed. I find it strange that 700,000 vehicles were recalled for the very same issue we had with our car for the same make, model and year. I called Chrysler and they only said my VIN did not have any recalls and I could report it on this website. This is not right that our vehicle was not included in the recall as this could have resulted in an accident and also should not be our fault to replace on a newer vehicle if the parts were known to be bad. I have also seen other recalls listed for same year/make/model with transmission which once again our vehicle has symptoms yet not included in this recall either. It seems like an error has been made here and needs to be corrected. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
Encountered a flat tire (observed when driving) and when I went to take the wheel / tire off to put on the spare, found I could not loosen the lug nuts with a variety of lug wrenches that were tried. I had to have the car towed to a dealer and was then informed that the lug nuts had to be hammered off the wheel and replaced. I was also informed that the lug nuts on the remaining wheels / tires were in the same condition. When I asked the dealer about it, they said that it was "nobody's fault" that this happened to the lug nuts. I disagree - and submit that it was the manufacturer of the lug nuts that was "at fault". I read about a similar incident involving Ford vehicles that was on the verge of a class action suit, but then dismissed. Apparently the outside coating (aluminum?) on the lug nuts shears off when pressure is applied. I am looking for compensation for having to replace these, along with a possible factory recall.
While sitting in my driveway, experienced a flat tire and wanted to change the tire to a spare, but found that no amount of torque would loosen the lug nuts. After trying two different lug wrenches, I ended up having to call a tow truck to take the vehicle to the dealer I had a warranty with for the tire. The dealership informed me that all of the lugnuts on the tire were defective (and later added that all of the other lugnuts on the car were as well). Their defect is that they have a non ferrous (tin?) coating on them that shears off when torque is applied. The lugnuts attaching the tire / wheel had to be hammered off to be removed. I have since had all of these lugnuts replaced (except for one) at my own expense. I believe it I had been stranded on the side of the road when I encountered the flat and the defective lugnuts, it would have put me at personal risk while trying desperately to remove them - not to mention the risk of personal injury trying to do so. The dealership told me that "no one was at fault" for the defective lugnuts. I took exception to this, being of the opinion that the manufacturer of these lugnuts was very much responsible for their defective product.
Wheels on car all peeled off and looks awful. The drivers inside handle peeling and wife cut hand on it . When you press the gas it loses power and stutters have had trouble with struts and brakes ever since we have owned car we purchased it off show room floor in grayson ky t.
It would not cut off.
All four tires are torn/cut and tearing, (one is torn completely and is undrivable,) in the same circular pattern on the inside of the tire wall. Possible link to p37 recall having to do with the rear shock mount welding breaking, hence damaging the tires. Other possibilities include faulty tires, or other manufacturer defects on the vehicle not yet established that could cause damage to the tires. I noticed the issue when I went to leave work. My vehicle had been stationary all day. The front driver's side tire was leaking air at a high rate (audible from far away. ) when I took the tire off to change to the spare, I noticed unusual cuts that are not indicative of a typical flat or blow out. I took off the other tires and they are all cut in a similar fashion. Photos are attached.
When driving my vehicle from the stop position on the street or at a traffic light and I begin to accelerate the vehicle hesitates as the engine rpms increase. It takes about 2-5 seconds for the transmission to catch up with the desired speed. When driving over 45 - 55mph or higher on the highway there is a distinct humming sound coming from the front of the vehicle. A constant humming sound. When I decrease in speed the transmission jerks as if it doesn't want to go into its lower gears. This problem has been occurring with the vehicle since I purchased it used in August of 2017 in hawaii.
I have 2 cracks in my wheel. I have already had to send 1 wheel off at my own expense to be repaired. This car is never taken off of pavement. It is only drove on the highway and city streets.
12/20/18 car won't start, used 3 newly model vehicles to jump still nothing. Basic mechanical work was preformed still nothing. Car accelerates but no physical mobility, I can drive vehicle with all doors open this model doesn't allow that because of a safety sensor. Car has over 13 codes you tube shows more.
The pressure on my front drivers side isnt reading it at all at first I thought it was a an electrical so I changed it then a popping and clicking sound started so I went to a mechanic and they told me it was the cv axel joint I replaced it still persist they said it might be a valve ok I replaced still has the popping and clicking sound and to top it off when im pushing on the gas pedal to go faster the car for some reason pulls back they told me at the Chrysler auto repaid it might be because it needs the transmission oil change I made an appointment and had it done but it still persists I don't know what else to do its cost me so much money to try to figure out what wrong with it and for some one on minimum wage its getting very difficult to continue paying this vehicle that has problems that just won't go away.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chrysler 200. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle started to shake when the accelerator pedal was depressed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the wheels were balanced. The vehicle was later taken to dick huvaere's richmond Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram srt mopar (located at 67567 south main street, richmond, mi 48062), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 14,000.
While on a trip from georgia to indiana. My family and I were traveling on the interstate. The front tires began to make noise and a vibration in the steering wheel. The car also began pulling hard to the left. When we arrived to indiana, the car was taken to a tire shop. The tire shop stated that one had tread separation and the other had a broken belt. The vehicle only has 33,000 miles on it. I had to replace 2 tires. I took pictures and documented the tires. I contacted the tire manufacturer and refused to do anything without the tires being sent to them. I had no way to carry 2 tires back from indiana to georgia.
I was driving at 60 miles an hour on the highway, and my front right passenger rim snapped in half all the way around the weld line.
The lug nuts are swollen and I am unable to get them off and either can the dealership.
Brakes, front wheel bar or something, thermostat, bought the car in August 2017. Haven't driven it very much at all. Now all these problems and I paid a great deal for this car . The transmission also acts funny at times. Not wanted to shift or shifts hard. The car was on the highway when the thermostat went out. Everything dropped on the screen and red thermostat came on and red letters about something hot stabilizer, throttle body, something.
It was my first time purchasing a car. I thought I was going to a legit business, north american auto group. They are rip offs. They sold me a car with a crack windshield and told me I had to fix it myself because they was not making much off the car for them to fix it, they told me they was unable to give me an inspection sticker because they don't do those, the brakes started to give out while I was driving and I went back to let them fix it. They said they do not do brakes and it's not included in my warranty, that's up to me to get changed on my own. Opening and closing the door has left me with a dent on the passenger side. The tires are horrible. The struts needs to be fixed and I need a wheel alignment. All of these things were suppose to be fixed before I even purchased the car.
The check engine light always is on the light of the air bag warning is off and on and most of the time remain on the system does not indicate when the tires are under the pressure . Water enters through the passenger left door, making the door very heavy.
Had to have the wheel hub replacement after only having the car for 1 year put needs shocks only three years old.
All four tire walls were badly cracked when the car was less than 3 years old and around 34k miles, as per the pictures taken by the Chrysler garage.
Tire wear indicators showing at 13,000 miles.
My airbag sensor has been indicating for quite a while although other 200 fall under the recall mine doesn't also my tire pressure sensor also has gone out.
Nexen factory tires on front both have had to be replaced early (based on tread life) because of very dangerous cracking/splitting along the sidewall. Local bigo tires inspected and showed me the problem. I replaced both front tires with identical new nexen replacements. Within a week I thought to research potential issue as this splitting I have never personally seen with a even poorly used tire.
We purchased a 2016 Chrysler 200 on March 11, 2017. On April 21, 2017, we noticed an issue with the vehicle specifically with instability in the front driver's side tire as we were driving it. It felt as if the tire was going to fall off. We called a tow truck on April 22, 2017 to bring the vehicle to southfork Chrysler Dodge service department for repair. It was noted that three lug nuts were missing from the tire. The repair shop noted that wheel hub, wheels have been ob-longed do to the vehicle only having a total of two lug nuts in place that happen to be slightly loose as well, causing the vehicle to have a vibration on the driver front wheel. We have not had any work done to the tires or car since it was purchased only six weeks prior to this incident. The car only has 21,428 miles.
Replaced disc breaks pads 3 times last year and 2 times this year, the rubber boot inside the break caliber melted and the rear breaks sometimes smokes, now front break pedal goes towards the flow and with clucking noise, andtbe abs break light is on while I was driving. .
First, there is the hvac/windshield defrost. My concern with that condition is that my vehicle is my main source of travel and to have the hvac to work properly in the summer is vital as well, as having a clear windshield. A breakdown at night, an accident, hitting a pole hole, something or someone would be far worse than a mere inconvenience. Incidentally, my intended use of the vehicle was made quite clear to the sales staff when I bought it. Second, and the matter of far greater concern to me is the transmission. Car making clucking noise, vibrating, jerking while shifting gears and launching while driving as if someone hit me from the back. Third, vehicle is only 2 years old and has had to have the drive shaft replaced. Which in return I've been without vehicle for more then 14 days and occur extra expenses of car rentals, tires and wheel alignment due to irregular wear. Fourth, hesitation on attempt to accelerate. I was informed that issue would be resolved with replacement of drive shaft. Defective drive shaft was the reason for delay and jerking. Fifth, excessive gas burning. I was informed that exist because of drive shaft. Once drive shaft was replaced it didn't resolve issue. I was giving a formula to calculate gas mileage, which was given to dealer. Car averaging 16mpg. Per car sticker fuel economy: highway 29/ city 18. Car is driven mostly on highway without a lot of stop and go traffic. Our state's lemon law dictates that a vehicle carries a presumption that it is a lemon if a condition exists that is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven and the nonconformity has been subject to repair two or more times by the manufacturer or its agents, and the buyer or lessee has at least once directly notified the manufacturer of the need for the repair of the nonconformity. .
While driving down an interstate at 80mph, tire monitoring system light came on. Car managed to get pulled to the side of road. Left front tire showed a crack in the side wall and the tread peeling from the tire. Upon further inspection, 3 of 4 tires all showed similar signs of being faulty.
In June 2016 the awd light came on while I was driving on the parkway. A call to the service dept. Said it could be a glitch in the computer, turn it off for a while and restart. The awd light continued to light up. I took it in for service the dealer said it was a computer chip problem (ptu module was bad) that took 4 days two fix. Two weeks later on 7/18/16 after noticing dark spots on my driveway I took the car in, the diagnosis was a leak of transmission fluid in the bell housing causing the transmission in a 2 year old car to be replaced. An hour ago, (7/28/18 9:30p) I was driving 60 miles an hour on the gsp when the battery light suddenly came on and "shift to p" message came on in the dash. The "d" on the gear shift panel started flashing about a min later the vehicle began to lose power. I pulled over and restarted the car. It started up I was barely able to get to the side of the road on a dark highway with lots of traffic. It was a catastrophe in the making! this is the 3rd major issue with this new vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. While driving 25 mph, an abnormal noise emitted from the front driver and passenger side wheels of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 8,000.
Vehicle developed slow tire deflation after being parked overnight. Removed wheel to inspect for tire puncture and discover crack in bead seat of rim. There was no impact to wheel as there is no damage to surrounding area besides normal road wear. Dealer inspected and agreed damage seems spontaneous.
I just bought this car in March of 2016 and has been in dealership over 9 times already for the alignment, tires already going bald and the transmission. I was driving one day down a street that has a 55mph speed limit and the car just died and lost all power it wouldnt go at all so I had to pull over and restart the vehicle finally it went then ever since then the car shifts very rough and jerks you and the dealerships keep telling me that its the way the car is supposed to drive but I know its not also the service transmission light came but the dealer says that codes were there to show which was odd to me also another issue with this car is sometimes when I put it in drive, reverse etc the electronic ebrake just comes which almost had me hit a few times now I have had this car 3 months now and its in the shop more than I can drive. I would say this car is unsafe and highly advise not to buy.
We had only had our 2016 Chrysler 200s for around 3 weeks. While heading home traveling east on state rt 149 from west frankfort, IL. , we heard a loud thump like something just hit the passenger side of our car. We pulled the car off at the church just 1 block down the road, got out and looked to see what happened, no animals had hit the car, no objects was laying in the road, and no one was mowing, but we had a straight gash with a dent in the side of our rear passenger door. It was getting close to dusk and I thought something came off the car. The next morning I finally noticed the passenger front wheel had the lug nut missing and the stud was gone. The rims clear coat is scratched where it fell off and slung back and hit the side of our car. I called our local Chrysler dealer and come to find out it had bolts not studs. I had them order one form me. I asked the service manager what the correct torque was for the bolts, incase any others were loose. He said,"103 ft/lbs". I check the torque the rest of the lug bolts and come to find every front one was loose. 1 more on the passenger side and 2 on the drivers side took nearly a 1/4 turn to reach torque. The rest of the front bolts were around 1/8 turn from being torqued. I only found 1 on the rear that wasn't correctly torqued. I haven't seen bolt lugs on an american car in all my life. I had the dealer install the new bolt and had him double check the torque on the others. I contacted Chrysler customer service and reported the problem. I also called the dealership I purchased the car from and drove it down for him to get pictures as well of the damage. The dealer contacted the regional service manager as well about the problem. Today Chrysler support said they are not going to fix the damage, because its not a warranty covered issue. Our last 15 model 200 was bought back by Chrysler, because of all the problems.
My 2015 Chrysler 200 was leaking air from the wheel. When taking the car back to the dealer don marshal Chrysler in somerset ky. They dismounted the tire from the wheel and found a stress crack in the wheel that was causing the tire to go flat. This was on the front tire and if not for the low tire indicator light this could have caused me to have had a wreck. The head mechanic said that it was not from any damage from hitting anything. I contacted Chrysler and they did nothing about this and would not return my calls in a timely manner. I even asked to speak to a supervisor of the lady handling my claim and she was also not trying to communicate with me to resolve this matter. I feel that the metal used in making this wheel is defective and would like someone to look into this matter. I worked as a firefighter for over 22 years and have seen many wreck. I feel that this is important enough that if someone doesn't look into this that it could end up causing several wrecks and which could end up causing someone to lose their life. I bought a new wheel out of my own pocket since Chrysler would not communicate with me. I still have the old wheel with the crack on the inside. I would send it off to have it tested for structural weakness if I knew where to send it to. I think Chrysler or the company that makes the wheels has a defective metal that could cause a wreck. Hoping someone looks into this matter and makes Chrysler double check their wheels. Also they need to learn to communicate with their customers in a timely manner. I kept a record of how many times I called and what few times they returned my calls. When they did call back it was always at the close of their business hours and would leave a voice mail knowing I would not have time to return their call.
2012 Chrysler 200. At 21,000 miles we noticed a loud muffler type noise coming from right rear. Thought it was either exhaust or muffler. Had it checked out and diagnosis is failure to the right rear hub bearing which need to be replaced. I noticed that there were other recalls in 2012 for this part but not the Chrysler 200.
As I was driving the car (with 22,000 miles) on the highway a noise was heard and as I accelerated more the noise got louder, coming from the front. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and a road test was completed and the mechanic confirmed that both the front wheel hubs needed to be replaced. The warranty covered the repair and car rental.
Purchased the vehicle roughly 30 days ago with only 4 miles on it at time of purchase. At 800 miles I began hearing noises coming from the brakes. After the dealer inspected and serviced the vehicle, they could find no issues or anything wrong with the vehicle. At 1100 miles, the brakes were still making noise and finally out of nowhere while driving the brakes locked up on me nearly resulting in an accident. This occurred afterwards on 2 other occasions, once while driving as and again another time when switching out of reverse. I also noticed at times that the brake pedal had gone nearly to the floor, which was also of concern. The vehicle was immediately dropped off at the dealership and I have now had a rental vehicle for the past couple of days without any response from the dealership whatsoever. I will be filing a claim for lemon law, as I have not even made my first car payment yet. Please ensure our safety by reviewing this issue and recalling any vehicles affected, as this will surely cause accidents if allowed to continue without resolution being provided.
The brakes on this car while backing up made an awful noise from day 1. I thought at first it was normal. Thought it was just new brakes that had to be broken in. Then I knew something was wrong because when I put it in drive my back brakes were locked and wouldn't release. Looked down to see if I hit the e brake, that was never the case. The brakes in rear have locked up several times and every time it was backing up and putting it in drive. I had a 2015 with the same issues and was replaced by the lemon law with a 2016 and now experiencing the same issues. Dealer opened start case with Chrysler but currently has no fix for these cars. Dealer also stated due to the size of the rotors/breaks causes the squealing/locking noise. This is a major safety issue in case the break decide to lock up or not work, currently waiting for more "repairs".
Takata recall low tire pressure issue, vavle stem is causing the air the leak out lowly, causing me to have to refill air twice a week. Multiple tires at the same time.
This car was rented to me by enterprise leasing company in the chicagoland area. As I was in the process of making a left turn (west bound) onto a residential street, I had the passenger side front tire break away from the chassis causing me to lose control of the vehicle and hit two parked car. After the collision, I inspected the car and found the passenger-side front tire broken off and positioned 90 degrees (perpendicular) to the car in the wheel well. The hubcap side of the tire was facing backward, relative to the car, broken off from the lower control arm with the frame of the vehicle resting on the street.
While driving the drive shaft came out causing the entire wheel to disconnect and subsequently causing the frame to collapse onto the tire of the front passenger side of the vehicle. I had this car for 2 weeks and had it towed to the dealership (tate Dodge) where I purchased it and it is still there since the incident on August 1st because I will not drive it as I do not feel safe in it.
The tire sensor (tpms light) for my passenger side, rear tire always says the tire pressure is low as well. It will say the tire is low, and it's always only this tire. I check the pressure with a hand gauge and all is fine. This vehicle obviously has some sort of electrical issue. I have had mulitipule issues with this car in the 19 months I have had it!.
I was driving down road heard a noise when I hit a bump and continue hearing noise when hitting bumps. Then on Saturday morning noticed brake grinding noise then Saturday afternoon when driving home the caliper came off and damaged my rim. When I jacked car up to inspect I noticed the retaining bolts for the caliper missing.
I just bought a used 2011 Chrysler 200 and within a weeks time noticed the rear of the vehicle was all over the road every time I hit a bump. It doesnt matter if its a small or large bump either. At first I was not sure what was wrong and I almost took it back to the dealer I bought it from. I climbed under the car and realized on the rear passenger right there was a little fluid leaking from the strut itself so I know that needs to be replaced. I slid over and looked at the drivers side rear which had no fluid leakage. After owning the car a month now, im relalizing that both sides are doing it and only the one strut appears to be leaking. The car is to the point of being unsafe to drive because of this issue. Ive had cars that needed struts replaced before and never have I felt like the car was unsafe to drive. After doing a little research, I find that this is a known issue for this car and Chrysler is aware of it. So why has this issue not been taken care of if its a known issue. I have children that ride in the back seat and I dont even feel safe driving them in the car. I need to get it fixed but its tough to do when you just bought the vehicle and are in need of getting your plates for the car($1700). And to fix this issue I hve been told that it will run me $600 and that doesnt even include certain parts if they are horribly bad as well. Like I said, this is more than just a strut issue but when I do get it fixed I will report my complete findings of everything that needs to be replaced in the suspension.
I have called Chrysler group llc starting back in April concerning my airbag light coming on as well as my powertrain feeling weird while driving. The individuals at chrsler group "supposedly" set up me several appointments with local Chrysler dealerships, no one there has talked to anyone at Chrysler group llc. I have been trying to get my car repaired under the warranty that is about expire August 20th, 2015 and I still haven't had my car looked at. This is a safety issue for me and my son, as I travel quite a bit. I really can't drive my car because I am afraid of something happening while I am driving. I would like my car repaired under my warranty as I have tried to get it repaired since April.
When I put my car in drive it bucks, hesitate and pulls off terribly rough, I have took car back to dealer 3 times and they can't seem to find anything wrong, I went to chicago which is about 3 hrs from my home. I parked went shopping for about 2hrs. Came back hit locks nothing happened, walked closer to car hit locks nothing happened, tried trunk nothing for about 20 min I'm locked out of my car, the car seemed to have lost power. After standing there trying to locks finally it powered on the car had a bad ride at take off I heard noises under hood I continue to drive after the second stop I came back to car no problem it opened,I'm not happy with this car from day one it has been something this is the worst car I have ever had,on;y had the car for 7months, it was thrown together not manufactured for perfection. This car has a problem with stalling and not wanting to pull off it just sits there then it jumps in gear the take off is very slow. I really need my car I hope there is something that can be done about this, I had a blow out on my front driver side tire hit a small hole on highway the tire instantly burst I was about 300miles from home the tires seem to have been dry rotten. The power lost just happened on 09/19/2015. The other happened stating 03/15.
The original date is sept. 2012. I was unable to enter this info above. I have been having problems with unexpected loss of power, (falling dead) since 2012. It normally happens when I am going slow due to being in traffic. I am stopped or barely moving and when we start moving I press on the accelerator and it will not go because it has fallen dead. I have to put my flashers on, pull over if possible, put the gear in park, turn off the engine and restart the car and it is good to go. There have been times this happens if I am at a stop light also when this occurs. The next issue is the low tire pressure light comes on most times when the weather changes. I have taken the car to a tire repair shop and was told when we have extreme weather changes, this will happen and to check the tire pressure every 3 weeks. This is costing me $5. 00/trip for pressure checks. I have taken my car back to the dealership when I started having these problems, they checked the car, did a test drive, kept it overnight and said no problems were found. Very disappointing and frustrating.
[xxx]. Regarding 200s. . . Bot. Car 02/02/2015 w/444 miles on it and returned 200s to dealership w/943 miles on the auto. It was un-drivable in snow approx. 2 to 4 inches. The car would become stuck in compacted snow in the street and would not move/ compacted I mean which all other cars in the neighborhood could drive on including the pizza delivery person and people on the way to work and ect all day long but not this 200s just sat there in front of our home. While we waited for help. . . Well once we got the car down the street on 2 on 3 inches of slush snow where everyone was driving. The car rear end wanted to come around to the front of the 200s and spin us out of control. You can not control the car with out a fight with the gas petal and break and steering. . The car wanted to spin around. . Being from michigan and minn. My wife and I know snow. And this is the first auto we have ever owned that was 100% unsafe to drive in any amounts of snow. The factory-installed tires for this automobile are unsafe for winter driving. Not only do they not grip from a complete stop but they are also ineffective in stopping and turning. The brand of tire installed is nexen p235/40/19. I had contacted Chrysler customer service but they simply laid the blame upon me and stated that I should've chosen all-season tires. I explained that I didn't have a choice in the type of tire that was mounted, only the wheel size and that all-season tires were supposedly mounted at the factory. I then received a response refusing to address the issue directly and that I contact the tire manufacturer. I have since installed winter tires at my own cost.
While accelerating or decelerating to the speeds between 50 and 55 mph, the steering wheel gives a vibration, and stays vibrating until a different speed is reached. Before or after the driving speed of 50 and 55 occurs, I do not notice the vibration.
When backing up from a parking place the first time it happened in the latter part of April 2013, we heard this loud screeching noise coming from what we thought to be the front wheels . I then took the car to the dealership told the service person about it, he then said all cars have been doing it because of the dust storms in the area . The noise has been getting louder and louder it's embarrassing any more to back up ! who would think such a nice and beautiful car would be emitting such a terrible noise. Even my elderly dad has noticed it every time I pick him up and he said what a shame it is that this car makes that horrific sound . On 10-22-13 I reported this problem again our car dealership and asked them to start a case about it and I'd report it to NHTSA. The service manager agrees with me and stated there is a problem with the Chrysler 200 cars and that Chrysler corp, refuses to admit there is problem with these cars! don"t buy this car!.
Several times since the purchase of my 2012 Chrysler 200 touring (3. 6 liter v6) I have had steering and control problems with the car. Upon doing my own inspection, I discovered that the tires provided on my 18x7inch, *upgraded* factory rims, are substanitally under rated for the size, weight and power of this vehicle. The tires on the v6 200 with the upgraded wheels have a performance rating of 't,' however after talking to several tire shops and looking a similarly equipped cars, this seems to be an unreasonably low rating for this particular car. It results in sever understeer, harsh cornering, poor brakeing distance, and could result in a blow out. The 4 cylinder version of this same car comes with tires that have a much higher rating. In fact many small family sedans have higer rated tires than the heavy and powerful Chrysler 200. Even other cars offered by Chrysler group. It seems that only the 200 with the upgraded rims has the under performing tires. To make this problem even worse, under hard acceleration the car will continue to accelerate and raise rpms even after my foot is off the gas pedal. This problem, coupled with the poor performing tires caused the car to skid into a the grass median in a corner. No one was hurt and the car was not damaged.
My car since I purchased (brand new) tends to wear the back tires out and swerves when it hits a bump, rain, or snow. It gets worse when there is a lot of weight in the back. Such as, two people in the back seat and for this reason I tend to be alone in the car because it could become dangerous to take passengers.
