The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the began jerking violently. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that battery acid was leaking from the battery housing unit and could cause a potential failure with the coolant unit. The contact was advised that the battery housing unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 40000.
Battery located in trunk. Ground wire melted causing loss of electrical grounding leading to an electrical fire. Vehicle was a total loss. Fire began in front of vehicle even though battery actually located in trunk.
