1 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2024

Have been having power steering problems over the past few years. Started by displaying a shift to park message while driving, my car would then lose power and shut down completely and power steering would lock up. Have taken to dealerships and independent mechanics and was told it was the wiring harness which they repaired several times and the car continued to have the issue. Approximately 3 months ago I was driving 55mph on highway when suddenly without any warning, the power steering failed and locked up making it very difficult to turn the wheel to get the vehicle off the highway safely. The power steering locking up put myself, my passengers and other drivers at risk bc I had no control over the steering. When I got the vehicle off of the highway a message repeatedly coming on and off saying “service power steering “ and another message saying power steering assist off service system. I was able to get the vehicle home, however the steering was extremely difficult especially in turns which is a major safety concern increasing a risk of an accident. I have done a lot of research about this issue and have found that there are numerous others with the same issue and same make/model as my 2016 Chrysler 300 c. I took the vehicle to another independent mechanic and they told me they couldn’t figure out what is wrong with it. I made another appointment with another mechanic and when I attempted to drive it “manually” as I had to do when it initially started doing this, the electric power steering has now completely locked up and the wheel is not functional at all and power steering has completely failed. This is not only a huge inconvenience but a serious safety hazard and should be investigated by the manufacturer.

2 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2023

The bolts were loose on the driveshaft on the all-wheel-drive, which caused them to have to replace the entire driveshaft! if the driveshaft would’ve broke, whoever was driving the vehicle, whether it be me, or with my son in it, we would’ve wrecked and possibly died! the problem has been confirmed with a certified dealer! there is no warning signals. There was nothing and there is a recall on the same. There is a recall for the exact same problem as my car, and now they will not cover it because it doesn’t show up on the VIN! this is a very dangerous safety issue and chrys learning to address this as soon as possible! especially after one of their managers told me it would be paid for if I had a diagnosed with a certified dealer and now they’re saying they’re not paying for it.

3 Power Train problem

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler 300. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power train warning light illuminated. The contact stated that when she arrived at her destination and proceeded to park the vehicle, the gear shifter was inoperable. The contact stated that she waited for several minutes, and the gear shifter became operable, and she was able to safely park the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred previously, and the gear shifter was replaced but the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

6 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2019

After the recall of July 2019 to address issue with rotary shifter, I started having issue with reverse not engaging, takes several attempts by turning car off, etc to get it to go into reverse. Has been to dealer 4 times, no check engine light or codes, said that there was nothing that they could do. I called Chrysler customer service and filed a complaint. They contacted the dealer and were told that they could not find any problem. Chrysler ask that I take the car to the dealer and leave it until it locked up on them. The problem is intermittent, sometimes several days, they would not provide a loaner and we cannot afford a rental for what could be days to weeks, so Chrysler closed the case because we would not cooperate.

7 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2017

I was driving on interstate 93 in boston MA. When without any warning the transmission went from drive into park and the car came to a screeching stop. I was fortunate that the vehicles behind me were able to stop in time. I was barely able to drive home and called the dealer, and they made arrangements to pick up the vehicle because I would not drive it. I was told that the valve body was no good. They ordered the part, but when they installed it, I was told that that part was also no good. The service manager said that they eventually did get the part in and advised me that the car had been repaired. As of this writing, I have not picked up the car, and quite frankly I am extremely concerned that I would not be so lucky if this happened again on the hwy.

8 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2016

Electronic transmission control. Engine stalling the light is staying on and the car loses power (lugging) while driving.

9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2016

This car has the rotary dial for transmission selection. I pulled this car has a rotary dial for the shifter. I put the vehicle in park and exited the car to close a gate. As soon as I exited the vehicle it began to roll backwards. I could not get back in the vehicle in time to stop it from exiting the garage. The driver's door caught on the garage door pillar turning it 180 degrees and pushing it into the front fender. Damage to the vehicle was $3210. 05. Since the repairs were completed, the same problem has occurred two additional times, fortunately with no damage. A faulty design for sure.

10 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/12/2016

The transmission will not shift when required. The vehicle was going around a corner, at approximately 15-20 mph the transmission hesitated. I accelerated but the transmission would not downshift. I floored the accelerator and nothing happened. The vehicle continued at the same speed of 15-20 mph. I was almost sideswiped in the process. I remained on the accelerator for almost 30 seconds and the vehicle never increased speed or shifted gears. This is not the first faulty experience with the vehicle but the final straw filing a complaint. I have had numerous issues with the transmission up shifting, down shifting, and hesitations of this transmission.
