general problems of the 2006 Chrysler 300C - part 1

Car stalled after filling gas tank. I was driving through an intersection and had to stop for oncoming traffic, when the car stalled and would not immediately restart, it eventually did start after several panic moments of being stuck in the intersection while the light was changing to let opposite traffic proceed. It stalled 2 more times on the way home. Both times I was slowing the car down when this occurred. I have been fearful of driving this car again since this happened. I heard there was a recall from Chrysler for lifetime replacement of gas tank due to a possible control valve shutoff float failure. My vehicle has never had the gas tank or float replaced, but it does not show up for a recall when I enter VIN. What should I do?.

There a problem with car stalling and dying because of power being lost to tcm because of tipm. Dealer had my car for 7 weeks and $1900 changing tcm and problems still exist. Didn't even make 10 miles from dealership. Very dangerous.

Car will buck/jerk at higher speeds, will also die at low speeds or idle, will fall on its face when trying full throttle, the oil light, check engine light, limp mode will flash sometimes traction control, esp will flash most the time the 2 lights stay on problem has been confirmed by 2 dealers. Puts my saftry at risk because engine will js die at 20mph I lose brakes and steering. Problem first appeared about the beginning of this year when my camshaft went out but wasn't showing a code for a month and a half then gave me a code since then ive had this problem vehicle has not been inspected.

While I was driving the car, the car stalled on me at a stop light, its a safety risk and could caused an accident at anytime, yes its available for inspection. Yes the problem has been reported and inspected by auto shop and dealership. No warning lights it just randomly happened while driving, while I was driving the check engine light popped up then disappeared and 2mintues later my car power was reduced and car shutoff at stoplight.

Yesterday I experienced an sua incident and nearly lost my life. I was entering a freeway and began to accelerate my car. Suddenly I felt as if the gears kicked and the car began to accelerate on its own to max revolutions. I pressed down on the brakes to see if it would stop and there was heavy resistance. I took my foot on the break and the car began to accelerate and rev completely on its own and the engine felt as if it was going to explode. I luckily was able to jam my foot on the break and pull over to the emergency lane and eventually come to a full stop. From there I put the car in park and removed my foot from the break pedal. Again the car began to jump to full revs with the engine screaming. I turned the car off and on several times and this continued to happen. After waiting one hour I was able to start the car and drive 20 mph back to my home and I will have it towed to a repair shop shortly. If I panicked or was not strong enough to press down on the brake pedal, the car would have accelerated to full speed and I certainly would have died and likely other people would have too.

While driving car randomley has m0mentary loss of power. There is a bell sound and then the car restarts, but it drops out of cruise control and sometimes has check engine light, or other dash lights. Usually lights clear upon restart. This has happened from Nov 2019 to present.

Car will cut off all system and stop when driving ,I fear car behind will run into me causing serous injuries and death. Car will stop in motion, city street highway it dosents matter . Car has less then 40000. M.

My 2006 Chrysler 300c 5. 7l starting stalling after filling the tank and has progressively gotten worst. My car now stops while idle, at traffic lights, and has even stop while making a turn into traffic. I have taken it into the dealership who has tried to charge me labor to investigate the problem (thousands) but, ultimately claim that they do not know what the problem is. After research, I have found that their are thousands of owners with my make and model having the same issue. I also found that Chrysler's solution is to change the gas tank, which they claim should fix the issue. The dealership changed the tank under their extended warranty and this has not fixed the stalling problem. After doing more research I found that Chrysler did a recall on this same stalling issue for the pacifica Mini van, but did not include my make and model. The issues are found in 2005-2006 Chrysler 300c hemi 5. 7l engines. I don't understand how this dangerous issue has gone so long without a recall. Someone is going to get seriously injured or killed by stalling while driving in traffic. Meanwhile my car still has not been fixed.

All dashboard lights blink on and off and then headlights go off and interior lights and dash all turn off - while driving! this is extremely unsafe! it was dark when this last happened and I was barely able to pull over to turn the car off and back on again. This has happened many times in the past 2 years. When you turn the car back on it seems to be ok. But very scary and unsafe.

2006 Chrysler 300c | engine stall while driving | possibly tipm-related I purchased my 2006 Chrysler 300c just short of 6 months ago. Within the first week, as I was taking a left hand turn the ignition completely shut off. While the power was still active, I could not drive the car until I turned over the vehicle to restart the car. Thinking it was possibly a fringe issue I ignored to issue. Fast forwarding to today, my wife and I have experienced roughly 25-50 occurrences of the vehicle shutting off while the vehicle was in motion. I have been paying for a vehicle that only seems to work when it feels like it and what concerns me most is that every day I drive this vehicle I am endangering the lives of my wife and five children.

Engine stalling, lights in dash flickering, instrument cluster displays abs,eps,check engine light, speedometer and tachometer actuate erratic and sometimes inoperative.

The car just died on me in full traffic, traveling at 45 miles per hour. Cars speeding all around me, and mine just died. Dealer claimed that the computer died and it fried the 2 fuel pumps for a total expense to fix of more than $2000. This is such a terrible design on Chrysler's part that it could do this. It should be a recall and get paid for by the manufacturer. The dealer that did the work was perfomance Chrysler at 95 loop rd, dayton, OH 45459.

Car stalls unexpected after fueling up.

While on a curvy road after dark, at 45 mph, the electrical system shut down, dash lights flashed and went off, engine died. 40 mph on a curvy road with no lights. After 20 seconds it all came back on. Had no problems for 3 months. Electrical system has momentarily shut down on 4 other occasions since then. On 12/08/15 my wife was in line at the dandridge elementary school picking up my grandson. While in car pickup line with the transmission in drive, the dash lights came on, the vehicle accelerated (surged forward) then died. Engine died 5 times before she could get it home. This would be called a near miss accident in a workplace setting. Car is operating normally at this time. I held an ase master technician certification and in my opinion it is a dangerous electrical condition. I realize that someone must die in order to get this problem fixed and that is a shame.

My 300c 2006 engine shuts off. Sitting at a light or driving. Dealer had it, spent 1800. 00. They did not fix. Have it at a garage. They have replaced most sensors. Just spent 390 dollars on a new controller board (brain) its now more frequent. Started happening 2 years ago but not this frequent. Did a coolant flush, transmission flush,.

My car has been displaying erratic behavior for about the last seven months. The more recent problem I've experienced is that my car shuts off at a complete stop and sometimes as I'm braking to come to a stop at a light and power steering locks up as it shuts off. I feel this is extremely unsafe being I've dodged a few accidents already because of this issue. What if I'm at a light and getting ready to turn or make a u turn and it shuts off in on coming traffic, or if I'm on the highway and I have to suddenly brake and it shuts off at high speeds. I'm not sure what can be done but I hope I can get help some way, some how. I feel my life depends on it.

I went to warm my car at about 1:55-2:25am Friday, and a awful smell, so I yelled for help, turned the ignition off my car was now on fire. I could see the flames from the passenger side I called the police department who transferred me to fire department who asked me what happened and to stay away from the vehicle I got a cup and of water put it out. The fire department came , department came to my home inspection of the car and said do not start the vehicle have it towed away.

I'm having the same problem with the car stalling when I fill up the gas tank all the way. It has happened numerous times and is very dangerous. I pulled out in traffic and it stalled, blocking traffic. It took several times to start again. Very dangerous. I could die. I took it to my local dealership in scottsbluff, ne and they don't see an extended lifetime warranty on the gas tank, like there is supposed to be, like it mentions on the NHTSA website.

The engine shut off completely while driving. This caused a total loss in power steering, head lights, and anti-lock brakes. Fortunately I was on a well lit road with a long straightaway and able to muscle the car to a safe stop. Had I been a few miles farther down the road I would have been on a winding road with no street lights. It would have certainly caused a major accident. I took the car into a mechanic and they found nothing wrong with it.

I was on a major highway with my family in the car. I was going 40mph when the car completely shut off! I thought we were doomed. Its already been to 3 shops. Two of those were Chrysler dealerships. No one knows the problem. I only had this car for a short period of time and im scared to drive it. I took on a major problem and no one "Chrysler" wants to help. It is extremely difficult to put shifter into park. It is usually stuck between r and p. I am required to forcefully pull shifter into neutral to start. This car has been plaqued with some type of electrical issue that I have spent nearly $1000 trying to determine. I am unaware if the problem is related, but my concern is when it appears to be in park, the backup light are on. I can push the shift to put into park. I have removed the shroud in hopes to figure it out. This car is a pain.

I had just filled up the tank and pulled across the street and into a parking lot. As I was pulling into a parking spot the car died. I was able to get it restarted after about three attempts. After leaving the store I drove home and it died on me at the end on the parking lot as I was pulling into traffic. It died once more as I was driving through a residential area at approx. 25 mph. After I got it home, I allowed it to idle in the driveway for about 5 minutes with no problem. After eating dinner I took it for a drive and it happened again at an intersection. It died and took about five attempts to get it restarted.

For the past several months, every time I fill up with gas, my car dies several times before I get home, which is about 5 miles from the gas station. Sometimes it will speed up without me pushing the accelerator just before it dies. It dies before I get out of the gas station, sometimes. Other times it dies as I pull to a stop at the light 1,000 feet from the gas station. The most recent occurrence was 2 days ago. I've had it to the dealership service department twice for this, but they can't find anything wrong. The fill up before this last one, I only filled the tank half full, and it didn't die, so it must be something to do with filling it all the way up. I don't top the tank off, either.

Driving down road car engine will cut out may restart some times , or stall and have to restart manually, check engine light came on took to local dealership put on computer said that it just sent basic code have had car for over 3 month returned car said there was nothing wrong next day driving car did same thing 4 times more on me engine light on again said same code now have had car for another month saying that they can not duplicate problem.

The car randomly stalls out and sometimes while driving at highway speeds all the lights will briefly flash on in the dash, immediate loss of power and violent bucking. This is ridiculous! it happens all the time. This is not the full fuel tank stalling issue. I already had the tank replaced. This happens at wot or at idle or in between. This car is unsafe to drive. I have no confidence in the car anymore. I still love this car, but I'm considering going on a crusade against Chrysler unless they do something immediately to fix this. Read the forums - many people are having the same issues with the 6. 1l and 5. 7l engines. No one knows what to do. Please help!!!.

While driving the car abruptly stalls as if someone just turned the ignition off. And it is not a good feeling when you have to maneuver three lanes without power steering or brakes. The car must be stopped completely turn the ignition off and then back on to get the car going till it stalls again 6 times tonight just to drive 10 miles to get home. No warning you can be going 65 miles an hour or 5 and then without warning it just shuts down. This has happened 5 times in the last year the dealer keeps saying they fixed it but no here it is again stalling out less than a week from being at the dealers. Some times less than a day after they have had it. Why cant Chrysler fix their own cars they act like they don't know what to do. It seems not to be a mechanical problem it runs great no sputtering or jerking just driving along and electronically it just shuts down. They have replaced a multitude of sensors and the pcm the tcm and some parts I cant even name and each time they say its fixed and each time it does the same thing again. I have spent thousands of dollars, lost time at work I cant drive my car with the feeling of safety or security. The stress levels in my family are sky high. What is it going to take for Chrysler to fix their own car people are being treated unfairly and unjustly by this car and company. Please if they cant fix their own car who can? we as consumer's are being unfairly victimized please help.

Our 2006 Chrysler 300c dies after fueling the gas tank to full. It has died in intersections were we have almost been run into and in turns where is locks up and there is no power anything and have almost crashed. We have taken it to the dealership and continuously pay money to fix what they think it is and now for the third time they are asking for almost 1800 dollars to replace the tank. I can definitely see how this is a major problem and a huge safety issue.

Most of the time, the engine will stall at a stop with all gauges dropping to zero. This also happens when the car is moving down the roadway. Engine does not start smoothly. Most times it takes at least two attempts to start it. Sometimes upon restart the gauges remain at zero. Upon start, engine will run for a brief time and will run maybe 1 block or so before stalling again. It will run without incident until the next episode. There may be a spread of 3 to 4 weeks between incidents. Sometimes the engine speed jumps up without accelerator input making the car leap forward. This has happened once to me. Sometimes when the engine is restarted and put into gear, the transmission does not engage immediately, but after a very brief delay causing a "jump" into gear when it does engage. The esp bas light comes on a majority of the time this happens. Sometimes the gauges all drop to zero while the car is running. Almost always, I can feel in the running of the engine that something is not quite (almost imperceptive missing) right before this happens. I took the car to a Chrysler dealership immediately after this happened and asked them to read the codes. They told me many codes had been recorded.
