While driving 35 mph, the contact attempted to make a left turn with the signal when another motorist struck the contact's vehicle on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. The contact's vehicle spun out. The contact stated that the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained head injuries from impacting the steering wheel. The contact also suffered a cervical sprain, which required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v313000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 193,000.
