I purchased a Chrysler 300c few years ago. Was informed of a recall for alternator by mail. The alternator was not available for several months. The alternator goes out few months later causing car to blink all sensors and power goes away. Took it in still no recall part available. Dealership puts in same alternator to get me by. Months later same issue occurs. They replace again with recall part. Car still blinking n now stuck in first gear something it wasn't doing when brought in. I believe the alternator is the cause of other components faling. . Now they want to charge me for those parts. I'm furious because car is now worse than before . I believe this issue should have been resolved and fixed at no charge under recall. Please help me with this problem I avoided due to unavailable recall parts.
Car lost all power while driving. Stuck in the middle of an intersection. Everything was locked up. Stranded for 2 hours waiting for aaa. I know there is a recall on the alternator. We took the car to oliver c joseph Chrysler in belleville, IL. They say - they don't have the parts. They can order the partsbut we will have to pay for the repair and wait to get reimbursed by Chrysler. At least $850 in repairs. I can't pay $850! why should I have to if this is a recall. The dealer confirms this was an alternator fire. I need Chrysler to fix my car.
My engine started to make strange sounds when pulling into a parking lot. When I came back out, there was smoke coming out from under the hood. I quickly drove it to another parking lot where the engine just quit working all together. There was no power in the system. I had to get a tow truck take it to a automotive garage where they replaced the alternator and the battery, which was fairly new, with a new one because it wouldn't hold a charge. . I'm glad I wasn't driving the car when it quit. The total bill was a little over $850 for the tow, alternator, battery and labor. Is this covered under the warranty?.
My wife was coming home from work and she said the radio turned off on its own and wouldn't go back on. Then she said she began to smell a "burning smell" of like plastic or brakes. She then said that the car began to smoke from under the hood, luckily my wife works 5 miles away from home. I told her to immediately turn the car off to prevent anything else from happening. I could still smell the burning of what I later found out was the alternator. I went on the internet to check for recalls and was surprised to find out that there was but only on the v6 engine models but apparently with the same exact issues. I discovered in another website that there is many complaints on my same car model from other owners as well. Our car only has 49k miles and did not cost us cheap at 45,000. Chrysler out to be ashamed for not posting these serious electrical complaints. My whole family has been Chrysler for over 45 years since the days of Plymouth. Perhaps its time to change. Please do not wait till someone ends up getting hurt or even killed over this serious matter that can make vehicle catch-on fire.

Two weeks after receiving my car back it safe battery mode light came on and broke down I received a jump start twice to restart my car. I slowly drove of apply little pressure to the brakes the safe battery mode light light came on brake abs light emergency brake light engine light other warning lights I had to controll the steering will trying to apply brakes to drive with was difficult while the dash is blanking orange and on and off. I stop the car had it towed to Chrysler dealership to learn when calling a 1800 number my car was on a recall list for alternator. I contact Chrysler customer care to resolve the recall told there is no resolution for this recall. I informed of my fears of safety and asked for a solution to at least received a loaner car until the recall solution in 2018 would take place for repairs. I was yelled at hung up on for asking for a replacement resolution and told to had the same recall part place in my car and pay for it and submit the receipt to Chrysler for refund. I informed Chrysler I don't feel safe and fearful of doing this due to my experience and no safe way to ensure that this would not cause a fire another loss of power and causes a accident. I was told by Chrysler customer care each time I called that my only option is to replace the alternator with another alternator that is on recall or wait until Chrysler make the recall solution which the new part will be available in 2018 I would have to let the car sit unresolved and not repaired. I feel forced into this option by Chrysler and the dealership auto service manger mike.

I own a 2013 Chrysler 300 c with the 5. 7 hemi. I was pulling out my car of the garage to park it in front of my house, when I was pulling it out it began to make humming noises under the hood and the dash warning lights began to flash abs, battery saver ect. I looked under the hood and the alternator was smoking, I ran in the garage and got a bucket of water and poured it on the smoking alternator. I took it to the shop and they said the alternator shorted out and damaged the battery. I think Chrysler should recall all of these alternators in there cars, 300,challenger,chargers,jeeps. . Ect.
