3 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2006 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 10/28/2018

Car completely shuts off out of nowhere even going 55 mph on the highway, almost caused a major accident! starts jumping gears mainly when the rpm is at 1 going into 2. When this happens the lights in the car flicker. After the car dies out, when you restart it its stuck in neutral even though you are in drive. Once you shut it off again and restart it, its as if nothing was wrong. There is a brand new alternator and a brand new battery in the car and it still shuts down whether you're going 55 on a highway or sitting at light ready to take off and it dies out then as well. I have children, this is very dangerous and scary! I have read that many individuals are having this same exact issue, please do something before someone gets seriously hurt. Thank you.

4 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2013 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 08/07/2018

I purchased a Chrysler 300c few years ago. Was informed of a recall for alternator by mail. The alternator was not available for several months. The alternator goes out few months later causing car to blink all sensors and power goes away. Took it in still no recall part available. Dealership puts in same alternator to get me by. Months later same issue occurs. They replace again with recall part. Car still blinking n now stuck in first gear something it wasn't doing when brought in. I believe the alternator is the cause of other components faling. . Now they want to charge me for those parts. I'm furious because car is now worse than before . I believe this issue should have been resolved and fixed at no charge under recall. Please help me with this problem I avoided due to unavailable recall parts.

I had to get a tow truck take it to a automotive garage where they replaced the alternator and the battery, which was fairly new, with a new one because it wouldn't hold a charge. . I'm glad I wasn't driving the car when it quit. The total bill was a little over $850 for the tow, alternator, battery and labor. Is this covered under the warranty?.

Failure Date: 10/23/2017

My wife was coming home from work and she said the radio turned off on its own and wouldn't go back on. Then she said she began to smell a "burning smell" of like plastic or brakes. She then said that the car began to smoke from under the hood, luckily my wife works 5 miles away from home. I told her to immediately turn the car off to prevent anything else from happening. I could still smell the burning of what I later found out was the alternator. I went on the internet to check for recalls and was surprised to find out that there was but only on the v6 engine models but apparently with the same exact issues. I discovered in another website that there is many complaints on my same car model from other owners as well. Our car only has 49k miles and did not cost us cheap at 45,000. Chrysler out to be ashamed for not posting these serious electrical complaints. My whole family has been Chrysler for over 45 years since the days of Plymouth. Perhaps its time to change. Please do not wait till someone ends up getting hurt or even killed over this serious matter that can make vehicle catch-on fire.

I contact Chrysler customer care to resolve the recall told there is no resolution for this recall. I informed of my fears of safety and asked for a solution to at least received a loaner car until the recall solution in 2018 would take place for repairs. I was yelled at hung up on for asking for a replacement resolution and told to had the same recall part place in my car and pay for it and submit the receipt to Chrysler for refund. I informed Chrysler I don't feel safe and fearful of doing this due to my experience and no safe way to ensure that this would not cause a fire another loss of power and causes a accident. I was told by Chrysler customer care each time I called that my only option is to replace the alternator with another alternator that is on recall or wait until Chrysler make the recall solution which the new part will be available in 2018 I would have to let the car sit unresolved and not repaired. I feel forced into this option by Chrysler and the dealership auto service manger mike.

15 Alternator/generator/regulator problem of the 2012 Chrysler 300C

Failure Date: 07/26/2017

I have a 2012 Chrysler 300c. Yesterday while I was driving around 40 mph the alternator and the battery failed at the same time so subsequently the electronics in my vehicle quickly began to shut down starting with the radio, air conditioning, and then all of the vital electrical functions such as the abs brakes, power steering, and ignition ( no electrical functions ultimately). Without any electrical power in working in my car I somehow managed to maneuver the vehicle of the main road into a parking lot ( barely made it because there was no active power steering and the braking system stop working as it should. Had there been other vehicles in the immediate area , I may not be submitting this complaint . So once I managed to get the car stop and out of the highway, I opened the hood and noticed white smoke emitting from the alternator and I also that the battery was completed drained because the the interior lights, ignition, door locks, windows, and etc were not working. Has there been or is there a pending recall for my year and model of car. I have a 5. 7l hemi engine with a 220 amp alternator. I did read online that a recall #t36 was going to be issued in the month of August for the exact problem that I experience, but I'm not to sure about the validity of that information. Can you give me any information pertaining to my experience?.

I looked under the hood and the alternator was smoking, I ran in the garage and got a bucket of water and poured it on the smoking alternator. I took it to the shop and they said the alternator shorted out and damaged the battery. I think Chrysler should recall all of these alternators in there cars, 300,challenger,chargers,jeeps. . Ect.

Failure Date: 06/07/2017

Recall 17v-435 for alternator diode potential fire has been out since June of 2007. We signed onto the list to be notified of when the parts are in, but we have never received a notice. Looking now, we see that the status still shows awaiting parts. So, this is a followup complaint that if this is important enough to warrant a recall, we are now in the 6th month following. Doesn't NHTSA think enough time has elapsed to have the parts to repair this safety hazard?.
