Noise in steering column. Stiff when driving. Cracks in dash around passenger air bag. Engine light on and remains on for extended periods. Air bag warning light on. Advised that srs roll coil needs replacing. Part ordered through Chrysler parts dealer and is on back order.

12" crack of dashboard cover opened up on left side of passenger air bag and is getting longer. Very disappointing for a high priced car which I have owned since new.

The contact owns a 1999 Chrysler 300m. While examining the vehicle the contact noticed a crack in the dashboard near the passenger side air bag. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the dashboard was resurfaced; however, two weeks after the vehicle was repaired the failure recurred. There were no prior warnings. The failure mileage was 70000 and the current mileage was 72000.

After doing my research there is a big problem with 1998-04 Chrysler 300m cars where on the left side of the passenger air bag located on the dash a crack forms and starts about 2-3 inches then grows up to 11-13 inches. This is a known issue through many many 300m owners and this sounds like a problem that needs to be addressed. I have a 04 300m that I purchased on 02-08 and seen this crack. With this crack dash problem on the same exact location where many other owners have seen this crack form right at the left side of the passenger air bag. I need to find out how will this problem be fixed?.

Chrysler 200m front dash passenger area. Vertical crack appeared at 2" and has increased in size to over 12" over time. Passenger air bag is located in this area of the dash; appears as if internal pressure is causing crack to increase in size. Unclear if passenger air bag has been compromised or will operate properly if deployed. Multiple complaints of cracked passenger dash area have been documented with no apparent corrective action to resolve systemic issue. Local dealerships are hesitant to repair/replace due to airbag liability and while I fully understand the age of the car should be taken in to consideration (normal wear and tear) this vehicle has been meticulously maintained. The car is still being manufactured and Chryslers' quality control team should be engaged to evaluate number of complaints, risk analysis of passenger air bag functionality, and recommended corrective action plan. Beyond cosmetic inconvenience, the crack in my dashboard continues to grow in size and I am uncertain if my passenger air bag is, or will be compromised. Doing nothing does not resolve the question of air bag reliability, and I understand the financial implication of a bulletin for a nine year old car, however there is also the potential to offer some type of fix for the dashboard for those whose vehicle is still is good working order and who wish to keep the car. Recommend engagement of Chrysler quality control team and resulting bulletin to provide owners with an option to repair the dash.

The contact owns a 1999 Chrysler 300m. Therewas a crack in the dashboard on the passenger's side of the vehicle, near the air bag. The failure mileage was 100,000. The contact took the vehicle to three dealers, and no one would repair the vehicle due to liability issues involved with the crack being so close to the air bag. The dealers diagnosis was to replace the dashboard.

Over the course of the past couple years, I have developed a 7 inch crack in the dash above my passenger side air bag of my 1999 Chrysler 300m. Crack continues to grow and concerns safety. No repairs done due to proximity of air bag.

My 1999 Chrysler 300m has developed 2 cracks on the right side of the dashboard, on either side of the passenger side air bag. I researched this online and it is a very common problem. The cracks form only on the passenger side and always on either side of the air bag. I tried to get the cracks repaired, but no one is willing to do the work due to the proximity of the air bag. I believe this is much more of a safety issue than simply a cosmetic one due to the following reasons: the air bag is designed to deploy with a given amount of force. In my car, the amount of force necessary to break through the dashboard material is factored into the force of airbag deployment. The dash is already cracked, the air bags may (note, I did not say "will"--I'm not a Chrysler engineer) deploy too forcefully, thereby causing greater injuries to a passenger-side occupant. It's also possible that the dash won't break away properly, causing an excessive amount of dashboard foam or other material to be projected toward the face and body of the passenger-side occupant and causing lacerations and/or eye injuries that might not otherwise be encountered in a medium-speed front-end collision. And it's also possible that if the dashboard is compromised, it may interfere with air bag deployment altogether. 6" crack in dashboard above passenger air bag.

Dash is cracking along the lines of the passenger airbag; this appears to be a structural failure of the material; possibley due to internal scoring to provide directed air bag deployment.

My 2000 chysler 300m has a cracked dashboard along the seam of the passenger side airbag. This seems to be a common problem based on research I have conducted. The dealer has indicated that there is no recall on this item, even though this is a manufacturer fault that cannot be repaired short of replacing the dashboard.

Dt: the consumer stated there was a crack by the air bag on the dashboard. Another crack formed above the dashboard. The dealer said that they could not do anything about it and said there has not been any complaints. The consumer went online and discovered there was numerous complaints about this problem on the website. The consumer has had numerous problems with this vehicle.

10 inch crack in dashboard above the passenger's side airbag. It also has started to crack the wood grain, pretty soon it will be from windshield to glove box. A 2001 car that' has been garaged and well taken care off, and they were saying it was sun damaged. After doing my own investigation on the internet, I found out that there were a lot of people who also had the same problem, and everyone was helpless as to what to do! I am worried that the airbag may not deploy properly in an accident. Why won''t daimler/chrsyler do something. Was it because they could not afford it.

I recently noticed a crack in the dashboard of my 1999 Chrysler 300m over the passenger airbag. The crack is about two inches long and getting bigger. There is also an oily substance surrounding the crack. I feel that this is a safety concern and may compromise proper deployment of the airbag resulting in bodily harm or possible death in the event of an accident. I am concerned that if I were to repair the crack it would it would further compromise the deployment of the airbag. Having researched this online it appears that many of the other identical models have the same problem.

2000 Chrysler 300 m ---cracked dashboad on passenger side of car. Dealer not willing to replace known problem.

We recently bought a 2000 Chrysler 300m. About a month after we purchased this car a crack started on the dash over the passenger side airbag. It has since grown to about 10 inches. We are concerned this may be a safety issue and could affect the deployment of the airbag when needed. This seems to be an overall problem with this car as we have seen in online message boards and believe Chrysler should respond and fix this problem before someone gets injured because of this.

As many people have told me there seems to be a recurring problem that has happed to my chyrsler 300m 1999. The passenger side dashboard is cracking by the air bag. I believe this should be a recall that has not yet happened.

After parking my car in my heated garage for most of the winter in sw PA, I got into it in the spring and noticed a small crack in the dashboard on the passenger side where the airbag is. Since then, that small crack has grown to about 8 and another one appeared on the right side that is now about 4 . I am afraid my airbag will accidentally deploy on even a small bump in the road. My car currently has about 53k on it. I will soon be contacting my local Chrysler dealer to complain! any hints you can provide on handling this will be appreciated!.

The dashboard cracked towards the windshield from the left side of the air bag and the right side of the air bag. The consumer was concerned that the air bag may deploy.

: the contact stated that the vehicle's dashboard had developed a small crack to the right of the front passenger side air bag. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who determined that nothing could be done to repair the cracked dashboard unless the entire dashboard was replaced. 2004 Chrysler 300m well maintained with 77105 miles dashboard has started to crack over the airbag. The cosmetic issue is serious for such a new car , but more important is the fear of a potential safety issue with the crack starting over the passenger airbag. If this progresses like others that I have seen on the internet this will become very serious very quickly. I haven't found any recalls on this problem. While I realize Chrysler is going through bankruptcy this problem must be acknowledged and a solution found.

Passenger side dash has a vertical crack that extends for about 4" where the passager side airbag is. The car was not in any kind of accident or situation that would have casued this problem. I am concerned about the functionality of the airbag in the passenger side due to the cracked dash. My son cut his finger on the edges of the crack when he was investigating it as small children tend to do. I called the dealer I purchased the car from because I bought the extended warrenty from Chrysler. The dealer told me it was not covered and a new dash was approx. $1000. 00 to replace. This incident is unacceptable and is concerning to the safety of my family.
