1 Suspension problem of the 2000 Chrysler 300M

Failure Date: 06/25/2014

While turning a corner my steering wheel turned one direction while my tires stayed straight. Also while driving down the highway at 45 miles an hour. My car went into the opposite lane almost head on into another vehicle when my wheels decided to turn back when I turned the steering wheel almost to the end of steering ratio. This car is going to end up killing someone. Then there will be a major law suit. I replaced the rack & pinion. Worked for about a month and now it is starting to do it again. Also replaced the tie rod ends. The bolts back out or become loose on the rack & pinion. Have had to tighten them on many occasions.

Failure Date: 10/10/2013

Oct 2013 five months after I just had my car fixed . As I was driving through the green light I heard a noise like grinding my car stopped I could not go forward or backward, I was stopped in the far right lane of a three lane street I had to put on my flashers. I could not be move only by a tow truck. I had just had tire rods changed in may 2013 and rack n pinion fixed in may which that broke as I was backing out of a parking spot had to be towed. As I was taking the car to the dealership that had fixed it. Tow truck driver noticed tire rod bracket had broke as he was putting car down into parking area. So what I paid to get fix was broke again part could have been defected tire rod bracket. With my family I could have been hurt if I had been on the freeway.

7 Suspension problem of the 1999 Chrysler 300M

Failure Date: 12/16/2011

Alignment has been off for about 2 years. Took to my mechanic friend and he said that all the bolts associated with my rack and pinion had become loose. He tightened the bolts up, and the very next day they worked loose again. He did research on my vehicle and found that there are several complains about the rack and pinion and is shocked that Chrysler has not made a recall yet. I have not had any major accidents or problems, but as I read on the internet someone has died from the rack and pinion problems, and there has been several problems due to the rack and pinion not functioning properly. My mechanic friend is going to try to tighten the bolts again using lock tight(?) on the bolts and hopefully this will help the problem. . Read more...

13 Suspension problem of the 1999 Chrysler 300M

Failure Date: 10/04/1998

My vehicle has a severe shimmy/vibration between 55 and 65mph which is progressively getting worse. The dealer has put on three sets of tires and wheels and has done mutiple wheel balancing. The problem is progressively getting worse and the Chrysler factory representative has admitted the diamler/Chrysler is aware of the problem and their engineers are working on the problem. I have had my vehicle ito the the dealer 14 times for this problem. Their final answer last week was that neither the dealer or diamler/Chrysler will attempt to correct this problem again and that I should file under the georgia lemon law for compensation. I am not sure where the problem lies so consequently the multi-choice component list. I do not believe it is wheel or tire related after all of the changes but Chrysler does blame the goodyear tires, however they have never swapped them for any other brand. This is a dangerous condition that has been shared with other 300m owners on the web. It is particularly severe in hot weather and in rainy conditions. If the manufacturer admits to a defect, then I believe it is required to remedy the situation.
