Three problems related to engine shut off without warning have been reported for the 2007 Chrysler Aspen. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
After filling up the gas tank the vehicle shuts off while driving causing it to lose braking and power steering. The vehicle also shuts off while at a stand still. This only happens after filling up the gas tank and seemed to be caused by a faulty fuel tank rollover valve that is built into the gas tank so it cant be changed. The whole fuel tank has to be changed and the fuel tank is no longer available anywhere. I'm forced to drive a ticking time bomb because there is no way to fix this problem that should be a recall.
In June 2016 I began having problems with my vehicle shuts off at a stop sign stop light seems like the rpms goes down and the car shut off with no advance warning I have to start the car two or three times in order for to get it to restart took it to the dealer $100 service fee and they didn't find anything wrong with it I've had the spark plugs changed the spark plug wires change the throttle body assembly change and actually I'm kind of getting afraid to drive in the vehicle because I never know when it's going to shut off and I don't want anyone to run in the back of me.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Aspen. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle shut off and all of the instrument panel gauges illuminated. The contact was able to coast the vehicle off the road. The vehicle restarted briefly, but then shut off again twice and would not restart. The police helped him push the vehicle to a parking lot and then it was towed to the dealer. The dealer was unable to diagnose the cause of failure. The failure mileage was 419 and the current mileage was unknown. *updated 12/12/2007 updated 12/12/07.
