Nine problems related to gasoline fuel system have been reported for the 2007 Chrysler Aspen. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Just purchased a used 2007 Chrysler Aspen. When fueling to fill, gas pump shuts off, then large amount of gas overflows out, splashing skin, clothing, gas cap and pavement. Additional gas goes on hand when closing gas cap. Seems like this is a fire hazard, not to mention environmental hazard. Not "topping off", just allowing pump to shut off, which it does. The gas only overflows out after the pump shuts off. This has happened at multiple stations and was extra careful not to put the nozzle in too far. Have seen lots of complaints about this here. Why is there no official recall?.
While filling up the vehicle at the gas station, the pump's auto-shut off feature would activate and several seconds later, fuel would shoot back out of the vehicle's filler tube. We just bought the vehicle (used) on November 19,2011 and this has happened on two other occasions while fueling the vehicle since that time. After some online investigation, it is obvious that this is a very common problem. Not only with this vehicle but with quite a few Chrysler vehicles in general. This is an extremely dangerous problem with the amount of fuel that is spilled on the vehicle, on the ground and on myself when attempting to fuel the vehicle.
When filling with fuel, the fuel when finished will spew out every time. This soaks the side of the vehicle with fuel and is a major fire hazzard. Even if I am careful and fill more slowly or stop it before it is ready it does not matter, there is a fuel spill everytime.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Aspen 4x4. The contact stated that fuel would spit back onto the contact when refueling the vehicle. The dealer and manufacturer were notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unavailable and the current mileage was 60,500.
An excessive amount of gas spills our of the filler neck when refueling the vehicle.
2007 Chrysler Aspen overflows at the gas pump everytime. This creates a very big safety hazard at the pump.
2007 Chrysler Aspen 50,000 miles when filling with gas and the nozzle cuts off gas splashes back out spills to the ground and surrounding area. Does not appear to be any way to position nozzle so this will not happen. This just began happening.
I have an 2007 Chrysler Aspen with 43,000 miles on it. Just bought it two weeks ago and since then I've had a problem filling the vehicle with fuel. On three separate attempts, after the automatic shut off in the fuel nozzle trips, a very large amount of fuel come flying back out. Everytime it has come out far enough to splash back on the pump itself. On a fourth attempt, I tried to put the gas in as slow as possible and still with no warning, gas came back out, not spewing, but still came back out. It's a very aggravating and dangerous problem.
For past 3 months fuel overflows from filler neck on 2007 Aspen, after pump shuts off. This been happening 100% of the time at any gas station.
