17 problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 2007 Chrysler Aspen. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My vehicle was stationed at a gas station pump as I was pumping fuel and I wanted to fill up the tank, and so I did. But, right before the pump stopped, the gas spit and spilled out of the tank, ran down the side of my vehicle and on to the floor.
Every time we fill the gas tank . . . The vehicle will stutter / shake when at idle or die completely at idle like at a stop sign or drive through window. It will restart after about 30 seconds. After it has been driven about 25-40 miles it stops happening. We have paid for total vehicle inspections, we have also paid $1300 to have every single problem a certified Chrysler dealership can find fixed. This did not help the problem at all and the dealership says there is absolutely nothing wrong with the SUV. This is the car our son drives and we are very concerned. We are not in a financial position to replace the vehicle and have now emptied our savings to have the vehicle completely serviced, inspected and repaired.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Aspen 4x4. The contact stated that it took approximately 20 minutes to fill up her fuel tank due to an inconsistent flow of fuel. The contact attempted to place fuel in her vehicle at several different stations and experienced the same failure each time. Century Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (13500 veterans memorial pkwy in wentzville, mo 63385) was notified of the failure and stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacture was aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.
Every time I fill up my gas tank the vehicle spits a bunch of gas our onto the ground and all over the side of the vehicle. I have been looking this up and have found that its a very common problem with 2007 Aspens. When I called the dealership and told of the problem they stated thats its not a recall item and I have to fix this known issue out of my own pocket.
TSB 14-001-12 fuel splash back. Had my car and they did the repairs. But, its did not fix the problem!!! was told I need a new gas tank. It will cost me, $1,500. Called Chrysler corp. And was told they do not pay for the tank?? it still is a safety problem with gas spiting out over the car,me,ground. I feel Chrysler should repair the problem, not only on the service bulletin but repair the problem. . . . . .
Summary: fuel gushed out of the tank and sprayed over the SUV and myself at the gas station when I was refueling my vehicle. This seems to be an ongoing safety problem with this make and model that has not been corrected by the manufacturer. The vehicle was parked at the gas station and I was standing next to it. This has happed every time I fill up for the last year.

Was refueling car at gas station and after about a gallon or two the gas started spurting back at me. The tank wasn't full, the pump did not stop. This has been an ongoing problem since Feb 2014. Purchased car used from dealer. When I called service center , gentleman said there were no recalls on this vehicle. I have read many posts where the very same thing happens on this same make/ model.

Whenever I fill the gas, once the pump stops and the tank is full about 1/2 gallon of gas comes back up and out of the fill hole. Spilling down the side of the vehicle and out onto the ground. This appears to be a regular problem with these. They did a recall on the Jeep with the same problem.
The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Aspen 4x4. The contact stated that whenever refueling, gasoline fuel would spray out of the filler neck haphazardly. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who advised that the failure was contributed to the fuel tank inlet valve. The vehicle was scheduled for repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 77,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Every time I fill my fuel tank, approx. One gallon of gasoline shoots back out. I get covered in gasoline, along with the side of the vehicle and ground, causing a very hazardous situation. Any type of spark could cause me to go on fire, as well as the car and fueling station. This needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. How many people need to complain before someone gets injured or killed. I have personally viewed thousands of the same complaint.
While refueling fuel will discharge out of filler tube when tank gets near full, this will happen if the auto shut off is used or if it is operated manually. The fuel will spray up to 3' away from vehicle and cover anything in general area. This happens every time vehicle is refueled.

As with many others, I too have had the problem with gas spitting out of the tank when fueling my 2007 Chrysler Aspen. This has occurred repeatedly over the past year and a half no matter what precautions I have tried (stopping repeatedly, adjusting the position of the nozzel, etc. . ). It's dangerous, harmful to skin/clothing/shoes, costly and downright embarrassing. After reading on the internet how common of an issue this is, I cannot believe that Chrysler has not stood up and taken action on this - obviously they are not looking to build brand loyalty!.
I purchased this vehicle in August 2010. It is a 2007 Chrysler Aspen. I had it just a few months and I was having issues with the steering. I am good driver and drove to work each day without issue. I went to my local mechanic and he advised the tie rod needed to be replaced. He has been in business for years and noted how odd it is that a newer vehicle would need a tie rod replacement. He had never seen this before. It cost over $500 to get it replaced. He said had I driven it just a few more days the whole front would have broken causing an accident. I also had an issue in 2012 with a emission sensor and my gas tank.
