Four problems related to trunk lid have been reported for the 1996 Chrysler Cirrus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On numerous occasions (after warranty period) the trunk lid will not stay in upright position, it is extremely heavy and has dropped down unexpectedly on both me and my husband numerous times. If it falls on a child or fragile person it will certainly kill them given the weight of the trunk lid. Both my husband and myself have received lhead lacerations from the trunk lid falling.
Trunk lid has two stops, the first of which fails to hold trunk, resulting in lacerating one persons head.
Trunk lid will not stay up when open.
The trunk lid came down on passenger's head while loading trunk, causing injury.
