Two problems related to brake abs warning light have been reported for the 1997 Chrysler Cirrus. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Abs warning light came on. Brought car to dealership for diagnosis. Diagnosis showed system relay output circuit code. Testing showed faulty power distribution center due to corrosion. Proper repair is replacement of power distribution center and harness. Service center found part is no longer manufactured. Service center conducted nationwide parts search to no avail. As a consequence abs system is now non-functional.
Have contacted 2 dealers for service/confirmation of faulty part, and both report that the pt # is on "national backorder" with no estimted receipt date. Abs light is engaged, and dealers are unwilling to declare the vehicle unsafe. Dealers have been extremely non-cooperative in resolution. Concern is that extended warranty may expire prior to part replacement, or that vehicle safety may be compromised and involved in an incident.
