Consumer states that where the steering column meets the floorboard there is a knuckle. The knucle is not covered. The floor mat slides into the knucle, resulting in loss of steering. The dealer has recommended that the owner use manufacturer's floor mats to prevent sliding.

2 Steering Wheel problem of the 1999 Chrysler Cirrus

Bolt on the steering column connected to the base pertrudes. When making a turn bolt grabs the rug, causing the rug to jam between the accelerator pedal and the steering column. Dealer has inspected vehicle. The customer states that something is missing when the steering column connects to steering linkage at the floor. The dealer syas there is nothing wrong.
