Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problems of the 1996 Chrysler Concorde

Four problems related to automatic transmission floor shift have been reported for the 1996 Chrysler Concorde. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem

Failure Date: 12/21/2005

When using 1996 Chrysler Concorde experienced the car's floor shift lever jumped from park to drive while in a driveway. This was previously recalled (c45) and repaired on 10/11/2004. There was damage to a garage door. Per the insurance agent I notified Chrysler, the original dealership, and this site. Chrysler provided a reference number and I have scheduled for a reinspection/reinstallation 1/18/2006.

2 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2004

The vehicle was kept at the dealership over the weekend to perform NHTSA recall campaign 04v021000. When the owner drove the vehicle, the engine revved high because the transmission was in over-drive. The consumer also had difficulty moving the floor shifter. The dealership stated they may have to charge the consumer for extensive repair. Please describe details.

3 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2004

Recall 04 v 021 000 concerning shift ignition - park interlock. Consumer had two concerns about this recall. First, parts were not available, and second, consumer did not receive a recall notice from the manufacturer. Local dealer informed consumer of this recall. Recall3 04v021000.

4 Automatic Transmission Floor Shift problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2004

Able to shift out of park when the ignition is off.
