Fuel Injection Rail problems of the 1996 Chrysler Concorde

Three problems related to fuel injection rail have been reported for the 1996 Chrysler Concorde. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Fuel Injection Rail problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2012

The contact owns a 1996 Chrysler Concorde. The contact stated that her vehicle was included and repaired in the recall under NHTSA campaign number: 98v184000 (fuel system, gasoline). While parked, the contact noticed a strong fuel smell. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the driver's side fuel rail had fractured causing a fuel leak. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

2 Fuel Injection Rail problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2007

On 03/21/2007 I was coming from work and smelled gasoline, on having my vehicle checked by a local mechanic, it was discovered that the fuel rail and the fuel line had become disengaged. As I had the fuel rail changed under a recall order back in 11/2007, I contacted the dealer that had completed the work back then. I was advised that if it was their fault the repairs would be made at no charge. If not I would be charged $75 per hr. It was agreed that the dealer would pick up the vehicle on 03/22/2007. As of 03/25/3007 my vehicle had still not been picked up. I am unable to drive said vehicle because of "gasoline" squirting out from the disconnection and pouring out on the highway and on the vehicle.

3 Fuel Injection Rail problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2003

Steering rack replacement in 1996 Chrysler Concorde is very costly and problematic. Had I known about such an inherent bad design I would never have purchased this vehicle, let alone any Chrysler product. My particular unit has failed at the low mileage of 110,000 and became dangerously close to failure! furthermore, during the repair process many other components had to be replaced due to the required tear down to access the failed steering rack components. In addition to the steering rack failure, the fuel rail gaskets also failed in leakage at the same time.
