The contact owns a 1998 Chrysler Concorde. While driving approximately 5 mph, the driver's seat reclined unexpectedly. The contact lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign id number 03v035000 (seats:front assembly:recliner) in may of 2003. The dealer stated that the reclining seat was not due to the recall, but rather a seat back adjuster and wiring harness failure. The current mileage was 86,554 and failure mileage was 86,544. The driver seat back broke, which caused the seat to collapse backwards.
Left front seatback recliner dropped back while driving. . Dealer service dept. Removed seat r&r lower cover. . . Drilled out and retapped broken hinge bolt. . Dealer charges for repairs ($170. 25), claims out of warranty due to mileage. . Reported to customer service. . Claims no other reports of similar problems. . . Refuses to reimburse for repairs.
