Five problems related to engine knocking noise have been reported for the 1999 Chrysler Concorde. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
While driving, the engine failed. Previously there was a knocking noise. After getting off the road it did start again. This was the first time this had ever happened. The consumer took to the vehicle to the dealer and mechanic said the rod bearings were gone.
: the contact stated while driving, a knocking sound was heard in the engine. The vehicle was taken to the local independent mechanic for inspection. The mechanic recommended changing the oil filter and it was replaced. However, several months later, the contact heard the knocking noise again while driving at 35 mph. The vehicle stalled and the engine would not restart. The vehicle was pushed into a yard, were it remains. Updated 04/11/06.
Car stalled, oil light came on, car started making knocking noise, towed to Chrysler. Dealership and was told the only way to fix it was a new engine. At my expense have since found out this is an ongoing problem with this motor and Chrysler wont do anything about it, I have maintained this car with regular oil changes every 3000 t0 3500 miles. I have been told the cost is 5000. 00 to replace the engine. I am devistated by this and think Chrysler needs to own up to its defective motors.
When driving consumer heard a knocking noise, and sludge coming from the engine. Consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealership, but dealership did not resolve the problem.
Consumer states that while driving heard a banging noise from the front of vehicle, check engine light came on. Had vehicle serviced, the engine had blown.
