Chrysler Concorde owners have reported 19 problems related to brake electric antilock (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
: the contact stated while the vehicle slowed to a stop, the brakes began to vibrate and the pedal depressed to the floor. At 5 mph the abs engaged and stopped the vehicle. The problem was intermittent and occurred 40 times in the last two years. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to a service dealer. An independent service mechanic inspected the vehicle and also determined, the brakes needed to be serviced by an authorized dealer. The abs engage at a low speed for no apparent reason. Updated 08/23/04.

1999 Chrysler Concorde v-6 3. Brakes drop to 20% power in cold weather. No warning. No brake lite on dashboard. 20% brakes are effective enough at at slow speed and initial departure from parking spot. Lack of full power is not evident until full power is applied. Brakes return back to 100% power after warmer weather. After prolonged cold weather, the brake pedal freezes in place. Rubber boot on piston forward of brake pedal covered with rusty dust & shows possible exposure to interior water leak. In process of repairs now.

While driving on I-95 at 60 mph the vehicle started rapidly accelerating on it's own with my foot off the gas pedal. Applied brakes and shifted to neutral. Came to a stop. Put car in park and then into drive and car rapidly accelerated, tires smoking! brakes applied at maximum pressure car still accelerated. Shifted to neutral and turned key off.
I put car in reverse in parking lot and it lunged forward at full throttle with tires smoking, sideswipping one vehicle and pushed parked 2nd vehicle 30 ft into parking lot isle. My foot never left the brake pedal (used to shift), and brakes were useless in trying to stop the car. After hitting the second car (totalling it) got car stopped by slamming gear shift lever into park. This is the 3rd instance of this happening in the milwaukee area that is known to us. Substancial injuries were incurred in second instance where car when through garage door with severe facial injuries. The 3rd car went through a window of a business. All 3 were 1999 Chrysler products. Chrysler refuses to accept any blame for the accident and sent us a form letter saying the car was okay when it left the factory. Our car was a Chrysler Concorde lxi, the 2nd a Chrysler lhs, and the 3rd a Dodge neon.
Dealer claims this is normal to "all" cars, I never heard of such. No safety defec tlisted.

When depressing brake pedal pedal went to the floorboard without any indication. Failure occured in parking lot.
While attempting to stop the vehicle abruptly the pedal went top floor and the vehicle continued to roll into the rear of another vehicle. Nlm.
Continuing lack of braking "power" I. E. Pedal is on the floor and there is not enough braking force generated to cuase the anti-lock brakes to actuate ,even on wet pavement, causing longer stopping distances and some real tense moments. Deale has tried replacing several components with no result and I'm getting worried that evntually ther will be an accident caused by lack of braking ability in what should have been a no-problem, routine stop. There have been other complaints from other Chrysler owners showning same behavior- these appear in Chrysler lhs's and new yorkers which are essentially the same vehicles under the skin.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
When the brakes were applied the pedal went to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance, and causing a collision which resulted in minor injuries. Vehicle was tataled. The dealer has been notified.
The braking system malfunctioned due to braking system not being installed properly which caused rotors to overheat and extended stopping distance. This could hav e resulted in a crash.
Rear brakes improperly adjusted by manufacturer, resulting in front brakes overloading and warping the front brake rotors. Dealer adjusted the rear brakes and replaced the front brake rotors. Since the repairs were covered under warrantly, I assume that Chrysler (now daimler/Chrysler) is aware of the problem. I have a 1997 Chrysler Concorde which had the identical problem at approximately 12,000 miles. Very disconcerting to have such a safety-related problem with a car costing upwards of $25,000.
Rear brakes improperly adjusted by manufacturer, resulting in front brakes overloading on braking, which in turn resulted in warped front brake rotors. Dealer adjusted the rear brakes and replaced the front brake rotors. Since the work was covered under warranty, I assume Chrysler (now daimler/Chrysler) is aware of the problem. Very disconcerting to have a safety-related problem in a car costing upwards of $25,000.
Abs brakes malfunctioned. In addition, warped brake rotors.
When releasing the abs brakes they will grind, vehicle has been in for repairs seven times without a remedy.
Vehicle has abs brakes. Front brake rotors have excessive wear, rotors wear out every 10,000 miles. Vehicle has been in dealers several times.
When applying abs brakes, vehicle shakes violently.
When applying brakes front end vibrates violently.
