The contact owns a 2001 Chrysler Concorde. While driving various speeds at night, the headlights intermittently illuminated. In addition, the vehicle failed to start and had to be jumpstarted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, mike caboone, who diagnosed that the wiring in the light failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not safe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not offer assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 174,878.

: the consumer stated the brake pedal must be pressed down too far to stop the vehicle. The vehicle has been to the dealership and multiple independent repair shops, but there was no repair available. The manufacturer determined this is how the vehicle was made. The headlights covers are made of plastic. This plastic has filmed over reducing the effectivness of the headlights. This is not unique to my car. I have noticed it on all simular year/make/model of my car. The dealer tells me they could only replace the headlight assemblies at a considerable out of pocket expense for me. This is not safe - it is an obvious manufacture defect that the maker must correct.

6 Headlights problem of the 1999 Chrysler Concorde

The headlights on my 1999 Chrysler concord have become foggy and discolored to the point that the lights appear dim in the evening. This appears to be somewhat hazardous as visibility in night driving is necessary. Chrysler says that there is no warranty for the headlights. Cost to replace them is probably in the neighborhood of $700. I have heard this is a common problem. I have had many problems with this vehicle and I realize I bought it used but I feel that these headlights were defective from the beginning.

Consumer noticed that the headlights were fogged up. This caused poor visibility to the driver when driving at night. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the headlights needed to be replaced. Also, trunk lid would fall intermittently, causing injury to consumer's shoulders. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the shocks needed to be replaced.

: the contact stated while driving 65 mph at night on normal road conditions, there was poor headlight illumination. When the vehicle was taken to the dealership to replace the radiator fan, the contact was alerted that the head light gasket needed to be changed, which required the bumper to be dismounted to replace the head light lamp. The was made the repair rather expensive. The moisture and dust entering into the head light reduced the illumination power creating a safety risk for night driving. The manufacturer was contacted who connected conferenced the dealership. The dealership determined there was not recall for the head light defect and the repair had to be covered by the contact. The contact refused to perform the repair. Later the head light lamp was replaced by an independent mechanic who did not replace the gasket, consequently the poor illumination problem remained without resolution.

10 Headlights problem of the 2000 Chrysler Concorde

Consumer was disappointed with headlights. As long as he was driving in day light everything was fine. But, when he was driving at night he could not see. The low beam gave him an approximate distance of 75 feet in front. Consumer complained to dealer, but was told by dealer there was nothing that could be done because that was the way the lightening system was designed. Also, consumer was told that even if he had the headlights changed it would not be any different because the type of beams that fitted this vehicle were all the same, and they could not be adjusted. Consumer was afraid that he could be in an accident because it was hard to see at night.

Cars with high lights, and blue lights are blinding this old man trying to drive at night. Many times I have tipped the mirrors away from my sight when high lights approach from the rear. And the new blue lights are much to hard to fact at night.

Consumer notice rubber sealing around head light is separating from head lights. Dealer has been contacted will replace at consumer charge. Nlmdealer informed consumer that the whole head light assembly would have to be replaced on both lenses.

The headlights have a coating that gradually is getting worse. It's hard plastic headlight that the sun hits, causing it to turn yellow and to have a thick tint of film on it. This can be hazardous at night.

Rubber seal around 2 headlamps would come off. Adhesive fails to retain rubber seal in place. There isn't any distortion of visibility when this happens. Seal would be hanging off. Have not taken to dealer or mechanic. Consumer stated that these rubber seals have come unglued and are hanging from the lamps.
