1 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2024

June 6th 2024, I got into my 2095 Chrysler Crossfire and started driving hearing a rattling sound I pulled over and looked in back of my car to see the back window separated away from the soft top and was openly hanging, I had to get home from where I was at so I took back roads all way home and pulled over everytime a car got behind me. Also in past month my car sometimes starts right up and other time it won’t come on. Hubby says it’s an electrical issue. My car died on me as I pulled onto a hiway luckily I was able to pull off to the side of the road. I’ve seen several electrical issues reported on a car forum for these cars, also window separation. I have pics if needed.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2023

Back window glass of the soft top, became unglued and is leaking into the vehicle when it rains. Seems like a fault to me as the top itself is still in great condition.

3 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2019

The rear window of the vehicle came unglued while driving and created a massive disturbance in the vehicle. Had I been on a highway there would have been possibly catastrophic consequences and I fear for those drivers who may have to deal with this in the future. Chrysler must be held accountable for this beyond the states that they have already extended warranties to on vehicles who have had these same issues. My vehicle was shipped to nevada - also a warm weather state, yet not part of the extended warranty? this makes zero sense. Fix the issue Chrysler - shameful behavior, truly. I am currently having estimates done to see what the repairs will cost and hearing that this will be in the thousands of dollars for something that is a faulty build. There are literally dozens of forums with Chrysler drivers talking about this very same, very scary issue. Come on Chrysler, be accountable.

4 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2018

Rear window has delaminated from convertible top. Left side of glass has come loose from top. Car was stationary and parked at my residence.

5 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

Car was sitting in the driveway and back glass fell out and broke we had replaced this top once with our money as Chrysler and NHTSA wouldn't do anything about it this car has had recalls on this problem of the glass falling out and the glue failures but it seems only certain cars are repaired this car has been kept in a garage since the new top was installed and we took it out for a few days and the glue let loose what will it take to get Chrysler or NHTSA to fix this.

6 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The rear window is falling out of the convertible top.

7 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2018

Rear windshield completely separated from top in late (oct)2010. It was replaced and has completely separated again. I am so upset. This is dangerous and costly. I also have issues with car alarm going off while operating vehicle. I have contacted crysler and have not been offered any assistance.

8 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

Rear window on convertible top fell out. Current recall in progress for southern states.

9 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/26/2017

I own a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. It is a convertible. The rear window has become unglued causing possible serious injury, had it come totally unglued it could have created a serious injury similar to what snow could do if not cleaned off before leaving for a trip in your car. I have notified Chrysler and they will take no responsibility in the repair. Their reply, the warranty is expired! I cannot understand why this issue is not being taken more seriously? there have been many complaints filed with this same issue. A rear window that could be released into the rear of a highway or for that matter any road could cause serious injury to the driver of the vehicle or other drivers on the road. I hope this matter is taken serious and someone follows up with an alternative for a vehicle that has been assembled with faulty glue or poor design! p. S. This window became loose when my wife had noticed it was starting to become loose while driving on the highway doing about 60 mph. She then had to apply her brakes and remain at a slow speed on the highway which is a danger in it self.

10 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2016

The rear window fell out of the convertible top due to poor installation and adhesive used.

11 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

Rear window of convertible top came loose when car was moved from driveway back into the garage.

12 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

Driving down highway when the rear glass window of the convertible top came detached from the top and started banging on the rear tonneau cover. Luckily it did fall completely out of the car.

13 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2016

Intermittent engine start failure relay replaced good for 30 days then intermittent engine start failure standing still and sometimes in motion city street. Replaced relay $567. 00.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2015

Yesterday, after putting the top up, I drove the car. I had not put the top up in about a week. Car sat out in blazing sun with temps in the high 90's for about 2. 5 hours. When I started driving, I heard an odd rattle. I pulled over and checked the car to find that the rear window was separating from the soft top. It was about 2/3 still attached. I had to continue driving it. Upon returning home, I see that it is now 2/3 disconnected. I am unable to drive the car in the rain as my trunk would flood. Afraid to try to jerry rig it. Unable to call dealer until tomorrow as this, of course, is a holiday weekend. I am fearful of driving the car for fear the glass will become completely detached. Other than the attached wire that heats the glass for defogging, there is nothing that will secure it if it completely detaches. There is nothing to keep it from completely detaching. I do not have access to or own another car. I cannot just drive my car on nice days and stay home on rainy or cold ones. I am interested to see what my dealership will do about this. I fear nothing from other online comments. The car is only worth about $6k so the idea of putting a new top on it for $2-3k out of my pocket seems ridiculous. I love my car and want to keep driving it. It only has 70k miles and I am the original owner.

15 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

Rear glass in convertible has lost adhesion allowing water into car interior. Car has been kept in a garage for the last 7 years, and only driven about 3,000 miles per year.

16 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

During a severe rainstorm the rear window glass detached from the convertible top allowing severe flooding of the interior of the vehicle causing various electrical failures to occur. This sudden and unexpected event caused an emergency stop in traffic that could have resulted in an accident. The residual damage from this event affects rear window visibility and electrical failures that involve the operation of the locking system, the anti fog rear window capability and other electrical systems in the rear part of the vehicle which I cannot access because of the inoperative top and trunk.

17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2015

I came outside to find that the rear window of the convertible top had come loose and was laying on the rear deck being held to the fabric in 1 small place. The car had been parked outside for 1 day. Luckily it didn't fall out while I was driving, potentially shattering the glass near my head. Until the car is repaired it is unusable in foul weather due to water running in the passenger compartment.

18 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/17/2015

Rear glass has separated from convertible top for no apparent reason.

19 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/07/2015

As I was leaving work I noted a loud rattle behind my head. I stopped to see what was causing it. The bottom of the back window had separated from the convertible top and was rattling against the body of the car. By the time I had driven the 4 miles home, the separation had spread to nearly half of the window.

20 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2015

The glass rear window has separated from the fabric convertible roof. I understand this is a known issue with the 2005 model and has been recalled in several states. Mine doesn't seem to be covered by the recall but I have the issue.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2015

Woke up the this morning and discover the rear window of my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire had separated from the roof. The car only has 21,000 miles on it. The car has been garage kept in a northern state. There is no reason this should poor workmanship/ quality. Had this happened while driving it could have caused and accident. This problem has been reported by many consumers.

22 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/20/2015

Rear windshield started falling out of the convertible top while car was sitting in the garage. Would have been dangerous if it came out on the highway.

23 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2015

I have a two 2005 Crossfire srt6 roadster that the rear windows have detached from the canvas and fallen out. This is the 3rd time it has occurred on both vehicles. The 1st two times the dealer/Chrysler replaced the top with a deductible payment. Of $200. Thursday, 5/14/2015 the window came apart from the canvas (3rd time ) this is a known problem in the Crossfire community. It is a potential hazard if the window flies out when the car is moving. I am in current contact with Chrysler as the initial date of service was 04/15/2005. Therefore the vehicle is 1 month out of the 10 year/100k replacement by 1 month. Under the tpa Chrysler imposed and guaranteed for only specific states. (warm weather states).

24 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2015

The glass rear window panel in my convertible top began detaching from the top. It appears to have been held on only by adhesive. There are a remaining 6 inches on the top that are still glued, but I am unable to drive the car for fear that this window glass will fly out and injure or damage anyone driving behind me. This is an extremely unsafe condition, and I have found that it is impossible for this situation to be repaired, an entirely new top must be installed. For a vehicle only 10 years old, with well less than 100,000 miles, this is unacceptable!.

25 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/29/2015

I understand that the rear window is falling out of many of these vechiles and Chrysler is doing nothing.

26 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2015

The glass rear window of my car is detaching from the convertible soft top. Having been to several Chrysler dealers over the past two years, with much difficulty finding authorized repair technicians, I did not take it immediately to a dealership. It seemed to be glued in originally so I began with my local auto body shop who referred me to a convertible top specialist. I discovered the entire top has to be replaced which is very expensive. In researching alternative options online, I discovered that this defect is very common in the 2005 model and Chrysler has extended the warranty in some cases. I reached out to Chrysler, only to discover that the extended warranty only applies to certain "warm" states, not California. I'm not sure how they made that determination of which states are warm but not covering California which is one of the warmest states makes no sense to me. After hearing the many horror stories causing injury, I have now resolved to keep my car in the garage until the top can be replaced.

27 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

While driving on the interstate, the rear window in the convertible top detached and fell out, causing the car behind me to. . . React in a very unsafe manner. The sudden wind inside my car caused a very unsafe condition. This has happened to a number of Crossfire owners. Big problem. When it detached, it ripped out the wiring for the defogger and scratched the tonneau cover.

28 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

Original owner car, limited use, garage kept in California (state of purchase). Noticed that rear window in convertible top is starting to detach on one side. I'm aware that Chrysler has an extended warranty for cars purchased in certain "high humidity" states, but California is outside that coverage and so am not eligible for the warranty repair, yet I have the exact same issue.

29 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2014

My canvas top has separated from the glass window due to defective glue process. Not safe at all. It happened while driving on a highway doing 55mph. Window started to separate from canvas top. It I didn't hear all the air coming in and see it in my mirror it could flown out of the car into another car if I didn't quickly slow down and pull over. Very dangerous and now I have a maher bill to have it fixed. From doing some research on the internet I found that all 2005 Crossfire convertible owners have complained about the same thing an more of them everyday. This should be a recall issue before it kills someone if it hasn't already. Thanks for listening and hopefully your help with this matter.

30 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

Called Chrysler corporation about rear window separating from top. They said it would be replaced but I would have to go to a dealer for pictures and inspection. They suggested manahawkin Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram rt 72 manahawkin, NJ 08050 609-597-1097. My car was inspected and pictures were takened by dealer on 8/15/14 as per Chryslers request. Invoice number chcs113759. I have a paper from dealer stating window is separating from top and will notify Chrysler with results. I received a call from Chrysler corp. Stating mine is not covered because it was not delivered in specified states. I could not understand the logic that certain states would be covered and others not when they were all made in the same locations. They problem exist on all the convertibles. I do travel and if I went by their concept to only cover states that have high temperatures what do I do when I travel to those states with the car? I ask for your help in this since this is a car manufacturers defect. It doesn't matter where you live the car has the problem in all states. Thank you very much for your assistance.

31 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2014

I purchased this vehicle and not long after, the rear window of the convertible top came loose. I contacted Chrysler about the issue. I've been verbally told that there was a replacement note that affected Chrysler Crossfires for 9 states. The vehicle had to be originally sold in one of these 9 states. I can't remember the 9 specifically but. . . My vehicle was originally sold in kansas (which is not part of the 9 states replacement clause), I live in mo which is covered by the replacement clause. The lady that I spoke to said that it was a humidity issue that would cause the window to unglue. . . . So, I argued that my vehicle is now registered in a state that they claimed has the level of humidity that would cause the known issue, but, she stayed firm on the fact that my vehicle was originally sold in kansas and that that state is not part of the replacement deal. . / what are my right as a consumer? I have water getting in my trunk which caused multiple electrical issues. And now, I'm stuck with the bill or keeping the vehicle as is. Thank you Chrysler.

32 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2014

The back window separated from the top. My understanding is that Chrysler extended the warranty for this problem to 10 years 100000 miles but not on all of them. My car is not covered. Makes no sense that some are and some are not.

33 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2014

The back window is falling away from the convertible top. The adhesive is not holding the back window in place.

34 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2014

The convertible top back glass came unglued and fell out this car only has 29,000 miles the top and the car are in like new condition but Chrysler will not do anything about it. This car was sold new in michigan so it is not covered by warranty. I live in north carolina where it would be warrantied if it was sold new here. This car was built in germany and the us selling point should not be an issue. There are thousands of people suffering from this same problem and to have to spend $3000. 00 dollars to repair this when Chrysler is already fixing others is just criminal.

35 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 12/16/2013

The rear window is coming loose and it's leaking. . Modules in trunk shorted due to water leak.
