1 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/06/2024

June 6th 2024, I got into my 2095 Chrysler Crossfire and started driving hearing a rattling sound I pulled over and looked in back of my car to see the back window separated away from the soft top and was openly hanging, I had to get home from where I was at so I took back roads all way home and pulled over everytime a car got behind me. Also in past month my car sometimes starts right up and other time it won’t come on. Hubby says it’s an electrical issue. My car died on me as I pulled onto a hiway luckily I was able to pull off to the side of the road. I’ve seen several electrical issues reported on a car forum for these cars, also window separation. I have pics if needed.

2 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/17/2023

Back window glass of the soft top, became unglued and is leaking into the vehicle when it rains. Seems like a fault to me as the top itself is still in great condition.

3 Equipment problem of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 05/28/2023

While cruising at 55 miles per hour, an unexpected occurrence took place – the engine abruptly ceased to function. I found myself on a two-lane highway in the midst of a construction zone, where the highway was reduced to a single lane, flanked by barriers. In a situation devoid of power assistance, I navigated the immobile vehicle between these barriers to reach a secure location, narrowly evading a potential accident. This issue is perilous and disturbingly common among these vehicles, yet it lacks a definitive diagnosis or solution. Even the computer scans fail to pinpoint the root cause behind this disruptive problem. I had no choice but to have the vehicle towed, and an automotive technician subsequently replaced the crank position sensor, just one of the many potential culprits in this recurring issue. Remarkably, the car operated without issue for two months, only to once again shut down without warning at high speed. Then, quite unexpectedly, approximately ten minutes later, the car miraculously restarted. This issue is perilous and disturbingly common among these vehicles, yet it lacks a definitive diagnosis or solution. It is imperative to stress that this problem is widely recognized and acknowledged, with countless owners repeatedly seeking assistance from dealerships, yet the issue remains unresolved. The gravity of this situation cannot be overstated, as these vehicles are prone to sudden shutdowns while traveling at high speeds. Urgent attention and action are needed to investigate and rectify this life-threatening concern.

4 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 11/01/2021

My car has 47,800 miles on it and is a convertible. Its a known problem among Crossfire owners and it hasn't been resolved. The problem is the rear window is coming undone and just falls out. The dealerships won't fix it and auto repair shops want thousands of dollars. It's not only a quality issue but a huge safety issue as well. If that window was to fall while someone is driving the car it could injure them while they are driving or possibly fall onto the road and causing countless problems and injuries to the other motorists driving behind the car. Its not an issue of the owner of the car being negligent or miss using the vehicle, its a quality and safety issue.

7 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/24/2019

The rear window of the vehicle came unglued while driving and created a massive disturbance in the vehicle. Had I been on a highway there would have been possibly catastrophic consequences and I fear for those drivers who may have to deal with this in the future. Chrysler must be held accountable for this beyond the states that they have already extended warranties to on vehicles who have had these same issues. My vehicle was shipped to nevada - also a warm weather state, yet not part of the extended warranty? this makes zero sense. Fix the issue Chrysler - shameful behavior, truly. I am currently having estimates done to see what the repairs will cost and hearing that this will be in the thousands of dollars for something that is a faulty build. There are literally dozens of forums with Chrysler drivers talking about this very same, very scary issue. Come on Chrysler, be accountable.

10 Equipment problem of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 10/17/2018

Failure in key and ignition. The key will not turn so the car can not even be towed. This is such a common failure yet no recall. Now the car is stuck in a parking lot. 60 miles from my home.

Rear window has delaminated from convertible top. Left side of glass has come loose from top. Car was stationary and parked at my residence.

12 Equipment problem of the 2007 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/01/2018

Rear windsheild became unglued from my convertable top. Called Chrysler customer care. They set an appointment with a local dealer to check out. They told me nothing they can do for me to cover my problem. I was told that in 2005 they covered them but only that year. All tops are made the same reguardless of year. They told me only some states it was covered for 2005. I am now living in florida, which is one of those states. I found forams online with plenty of complants about this problem. The dealer was in contact with Chrysler and was told it was not covered.

13 Equipment problem of the 2008 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/14/2018

The headliner on the roof in my 2008 Chrysler Crossfire has detached completely except for the side and rear compartment upper edges and has sunken/fallen in front of me and my passengers field of view covering our eyes and resting on our heads plus blocking my drivers rear view mirror to the back window field of view as well. This is certainly a safety hazard and apparently caused from a poor quality application of headliner glue/decomposing fabric. This car is kept in pristine shape and covered almost continuously. There have been no external forces, mistreatment, nor chemical applications causing the source of the problem. It occurred while it was parked in my driveway, not on the public street during a two-week period of non-use. I am unable to drive it at this time.

14 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/08/2018

Car was sitting in the driveway and back glass fell out and broke we had replaced this top once with our money as Chrysler and NHTSA wouldn't do anything about it this car has had recalls on this problem of the glass falling out and the glue failures but it seems only certain cars are repaired this car has been kept in a garage since the new top was installed and we took it out for a few days and the glue let loose what will it take to get Chrysler or NHTSA to fix this.

15 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/01/2018

The rear window is falling out of the convertible top.

16 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 04/12/2018

Rear windshield completely separated from top in late (oct)2010. It was replaced and has completely separated again. I am so upset. This is dangerous and costly. I also have issues with car alarm going off while operating vehicle. I have contacted crysler and have not been offered any assistance.

17 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 10/02/2017

Rear window on convertible top fell out. Current recall in progress for southern states.

18 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/26/2017

I own a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire. It is a convertible. The rear window has become unglued causing possible serious injury, had it come totally unglued it could have created a serious injury similar to what snow could do if not cleaned off before leaving for a trip in your car. I have notified Chrysler and they will take no responsibility in the repair. Their reply, the warranty is expired! I cannot understand why this issue is not being taken more seriously? there have been many complaints filed with this same issue. A rear window that could be released into the rear of a highway or for that matter any road could cause serious injury to the driver of the vehicle or other drivers on the road. I hope this matter is taken serious and someone follows up with an alternative for a vehicle that has been assembled with faulty glue or poor design! p. S. This window became loose when my wife had noticed it was starting to become loose while driving on the highway doing about 60 mph. She then had to apply her brakes and remain at a slow speed on the highway which is a danger in it self.

19 Equipment problem of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/01/2017

My ignition is sticking in my 2004 Chrysler Crossfire seems to be a common problem? why should I pay to have it fixed when it's a manufacturing issue ?.

20 Equipment problem of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/22/2017

Car shut down in traffic would not start turn ignition dead. Had to have car towed after 45min to and hour started. Broke down in city street traffic. Very scared on going traffic (stop).

21 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Rear glass of the convertible top falling out, only being held by the window defroster wires. The adhesive in manufacturing gave way. The car is always garaged and just over 15k miles.

22 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

The rear window fell out of the convertible top due to poor installation and adhesive used.

23 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

24 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/15/2016

Driving down highway when the rear glass window of the convertible top came detached from the top and started banging on the rear tonneau cover. Luckily it did fall completely out of the car.

25 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/12/2016

I own a 2006 Chrysler Crossfire. My back window is falling out and it seems that Chrysler does not want to take ownership of the faulty adhesive and faulty workmanship of the convertible top. I cannot drive my car because the glass will come out and result in hitting another vehicle, pedestrian or other object. This problem has left thousands of Crossfire owners in a bad situation. Chrysler did issue a recall on the 2005's under TSB 23-035-11reva but not for any other model years. State farm insurance informed me the same top/manufacturer/adhesive is used on all Crossfire model years therefore it is not covered under an insurance claim. I've driven my car 3 times since noticing the window and the problem continues to get worse; becoming more and more of a safety issue. I want to know when Chrysler will be held responsible for the replacement of all of the faulty equipment they marketed and sold to trusting consumer. I am asking the NHTSA to force the recall on all Crossfire convertible tops, no matter what year they were manufactured or where they shipped. Faulty equipment is faulty equipment and the problem needs to rectified by the manufacturer. I am asking for the help from the NHTSA - there are many complaints - this is obviously not an isolated case. Until then, my car is not able to be driven.

26 Equipment problem of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/02/2016

The ignition will not turn my key at all!! I talked to the dealer and they said I may need a new ignition module.

27 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 05/31/2016

Window glass is separating from the fabric convertible top. I noted this last month with the car sitting at my house. This car is always garaged and has only around 73k miles, one owner. I have been told the rear window is heat sealed to the cover. Only the top portion remains sealed, the sides and bottom have separated. I have been working with a Chrysler case worker for a month trying to get the company to repair or replace the top but only get emails about once a week requesting the same information I have already provided. I have been told my local Chrysler dealership is no longer a "qualified dealership" with no further explanation. I have asked for a personal phone call but to no avail at this point. This is a definite safety hazard and I want the company to step up and fix it.

28 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

29 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/20/2015

The rear window of the convertible top is falling out. This is a very common problem with this vehicle. My vehicle was built in October 2005, but is considered a 2006 model. Chrysler TSB 23-035-11 rev a covers the problem for 2005 models. This common problem effects more than 2005 vehicles. On 9-11-2015 Chrysler was contacted (case # 27856344). They denied responsibility. Claimed (1) tsa only applied to vehicles in southern states (I provided them with a repair order from westbury Chrysler in westbury, new york that applied the TSB & provided no charge replacement top. New york is not a southern state); (2) tsa only applied to 2005 vehicles (I provided them information where TSB had been applied to a 2008 vehicle). This vehicle is garaged most days and has only 34,590 miles. This safety problem is due to a manufacturing problem that manufacture is trying to avoid. Vehicle is in st. Louis, mo.

31 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/06/2015

Yesterday, after putting the top up, I drove the car. I had not put the top up in about a week. Car sat out in blazing sun with temps in the high 90's for about 2. 5 hours. When I started driving, I heard an odd rattle. I pulled over and checked the car to find that the rear window was separating from the soft top. It was about 2/3 still attached. I had to continue driving it. Upon returning home, I see that it is now 2/3 disconnected. I am unable to drive the car in the rain as my trunk would flood. Afraid to try to jerry rig it. Unable to call dealer until tomorrow as this, of course, is a holiday weekend. I am fearful of driving the car for fear the glass will become completely detached. Other than the attached wire that heats the glass for defogging, there is nothing that will secure it if it completely detaches. There is nothing to keep it from completely detaching. I do not have access to or own another car. I cannot just drive my car on nice days and stay home on rainy or cold ones. I am interested to see what my dealership will do about this. I fear nothing from other online comments. The car is only worth about $6k so the idea of putting a new top on it for $2-3k out of my pocket seems ridiculous. I love my car and want to keep driving it. It only has 70k miles and I am the original owner.

32 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

Rear glass in convertible has lost adhesion allowing water into car interior. Car has been kept in a garage for the last 7 years, and only driven about 3,000 miles per year.

33 Equipment problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/01/2015

Rear glass window adhesive failed and wndow is falling out. Glass window on convertable roof is separating from vinal. The window will eventially fall out completely causing unsafe conditions. Called Chrysler and was told no warranty or recall and that whole convertable top would need to be replaced for approx $2000. The car is always in a garage and has very few miles. This is obviously a poor design. Window could fall out and cause severe damage or accident.

34 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/30/2015

During a severe rainstorm the rear window glass detached from the convertible top allowing severe flooding of the interior of the vehicle causing various electrical failures to occur. This sudden and unexpected event caused an emergency stop in traffic that could have resulted in an accident. The residual damage from this event affects rear window visibility and electrical failures that involve the operation of the locking system, the anti fog rear window capability and other electrical systems in the rear part of the vehicle which I cannot access because of the inoperative top and trunk.

35 Equipment problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/23/2015

I came outside to find that the rear window of the convertible top had come loose and was laying on the rear deck being held to the fabric in 1 small place. The car had been parked outside for 1 day. Luckily it didn't fall out while I was driving, potentially shattering the glass near my head. Until the car is repaired it is unusable in foul weather due to water running in the passenger compartment.
