1 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/25/2012

I received a laceration on my left hand index finger while grasping the driver side chrome covered door handle. It appears as though the metallic chrome covering has a seam on the inside of the handle which becomes razor sharp. I have used a layer of clear packing tape over the seam to keep from repeating this incident and will do the passenger side as a preemptive measure.

2 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/05/2012

The rear adhesive on my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadsters rear window, that holds it to the soft top convertible, has begun to detach. I have called Chrysler about the issue and they explained that my vehicle was not covered by the warranty and they will not assist. This is a huge safety concern for me because the window could detach while driving and possibly cause harm and/or death to other drivers on the roadway. I found a service bulletin on the issue with a bulletin # sb-23035-11reva that recommends that the convertible top be inspected and/or replaced if defective. Chrysler is not helping at all with this serious safety issue to help me fix it and make my vehicle safe for myself, and the others around me. I am a member of Crossfireforum. Org and there are many other people with this issue that have either gotten it replaced by Chrysler for free, or paid a CO-pay to help them fix the problem, but I was offered neither for this extremely unsafe issue my vehicle has. Please help me in any way that you can.

3 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

Convertible top rear window became unattached from the convertible top.

4 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/18/2012

The rear glass window on the convertible top came loose on one side and is coming loose across the top. I have discovered since this problem occurred that Chrysler is aware of the problem and is refusing to issue a recall inorder to fix the defect. My vehicle has always been garage kept, and the top is in excellent condition.

5 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/17/2012

When travelling down the road I noticed that the glass rear window on my convertible 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster had become partially unnatached from the canvas top and was hitting against the body when I would hit a bump. When I got home I did an internet search about how to fix it, and found that this is a common problem with the Crossfire rear window of this model year and although Chrysler admits the problem they are only fixing/covering the repair based on the VIN #. If I would have known this I would have bought a solstice or s2000. I can't afford a new top which is their only solution of course at my own expense. I took it to several shops to see if they would re-glue it for me. The top is mint except for the loose window. C'mon Chrysler man up and fix this for every owner not just some of them!.

8 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 01/07/2012

Ignition completely locked when key put in cannot turn at all. Dealer said the only solution is to completely replace the ignition with housing unit totaling right around $1500. Also having problems with alarm going off randomly and cannot diagnose that until ignition is fixed and car can be turned on. Very expensive just to find out what is wrong with the car. Seen this problem reported all over the place and seems to be inevitable with this car but still no recall.

9 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 11/22/2011

The back glass adhesive on the convertible soft top on my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster is failing on the drivers side almost 3 inches across top and bottom, causing the glass to separate from the fabric top. This adhesive is the only support for the window to the fabric top. The window/top connection currently does not provide a waterproof seal and allows water to enter the vehicle. This presents a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway or turns into a projectile inside the car while driving. Very costly to the consumer to repair should be recalled as it looks like there are many others with the same problem.

10 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 10/31/2011

Rear window in roadster (convertible) top is becoming unglued / delaminated from the fabric top. If it comes completely unglued at highway speeds it could be quite dangerous.

11 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 10/21/2011

The rear glass window has fallen off from the convertable top posing a safety issue. This is a known issue with this car as Chrysler recalled 2005s for the same issue but not the 2006. I have found online that I am not the only one with this issue.

12 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 10/14/2011

The rear window has separated from the canvas top and may fall out while driving. This will be a serious and costly safety issue.

13 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/22/2011

Chrysler has recalled and/or provided extended warranty for Crossfire convertible tops (x31 recall I believe) where the rear glass window is failing and becoming loose or has come out of the roof top completely. Chrysler has stated that only vehicles delivered to dealers in select southern states qualify for this recall/extended coverage. This is a safety issue for all Crossfires with convertible tops! do you wait until the window glass comes out completely while driving with the potential to cause an accident or damage to subsequent vehicles and or other property? no! this defective item should be replaced by Chrysler for all Crossfire vehicles with convertible tops. Chrysler should contact all registered owners and advise them as to how to have there defective components replaced before an incident and/or accident occurs.

14 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/20/2011

Chrysler reference # 21365151 TSB 23 035 11 the rear window in the contv. Top has been coming unglued. There are several cases to support this. Chrysler has no explantation for this or the reason that all roadsters are not being fixed/recalled.

15 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 09/06/2011

The back glass adhesive on the convertible soft top on my 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster has begun to fail, causing the glass to separate from the fabric top. This adhesive is the only support for the window to the fabric top. The window/top connection currently does not provide a waterproof seal and allows water to enter the vehicle. Recently, the deterioration has accelerated and soon could present as a safety hazard when the adhesive fails completely and the glass falls out on a roadway.

16 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/14/2011

Ever since I have had my Chrysler Crossfire the ignition cylinder has given my problems, key will not turn in cylinder, not even to position one! and this happens of a daily basis. After a few tries to jerk the steering wheel it will turn on but not the last time and took it to the dealership and they said $1250 to repair the cylinder and that may not fix the problem. Have talked to many Crossfire owners and they all have had to same issue, why is this not a recall?.

17 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 08/06/2011

The rear window glass on the roadster separates rapidly from the roof lining and if not caught in time will completely detach and become a projectile to the internal occupants or to other road users. Chrysler have indicated on their x31 recall for the problem the expectation that certain vehicles are warranted for 10 years/100,000 miles due to a manufacturing defect, but only for vehicles shipped to some 8 southern states. Their contention is that other vehicles are not affected but this is at odds with the experiences of myself and many others.

18 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/12/2011

My convertable top is in excellent condition except for the fact that the rear window is falling out and I am being told that I have to replace my whole top in order to replace the window because of the poor design. This is now a safety issue as the rear window is about to fall off and no way to repair it without total replacement of the convertable top which is very pricey and because of the poor design will have to be replaced in another 5-6 years.

19 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/12/2011

The rear glass window is coming loose and separating/delaminating from the fabric convertible top. It seems the glue/bond is failing and I am very concerned that the window will completely become detached and cause an accident while driving. I believe this problem is a manufacturing defect and needs to be addressed by Chrysler as a recall. This problem seems to be related to hot/humid weather conditions causing the delamination failure.

20 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 07/06/2011

As I was pulling out of my parking space after work, the rear window of my convertible fell into the passenger compartment of the car. Scared the hell out of me. Fortunately I wasn't going very quickly or I might have lost control of the car. Got the car home and looked the issue up on the internet and was surprised to find that apparently this is a common problem with this car, Chrysler knows about it, but will not do anything about the problem. Their answer is to install a new roof at $3,800. I consider this a safety issue because a piece of glass coming loose like that in a moving vehicle can cause a real problem.

21 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/18/2011

This is a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire we have owned and garage kept for 3yrs without any problems until today when the back window on the convertible top became delaminated. Searching the internet I found that this may be a common problem for other owners of this vehicle. I dont understand how this method of installation from the factory could be considered quality work because its just glued onto the denim cloth. This car has never been in an accident or treated in a negligent manner it is well taken care of and there is no reason for this to happen except for poor manufacturing processes.

22 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

I was driving my 2005 Chrysler on I-75 and the front windshield upper reveal molding flew off. It was a good thing that no one was immediately behind me.

23 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 05/06/2011

24 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 05/05/2011

2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster rear window fell out of the top. This could have fallen behind my car and hit another vehicle and injured someone. I belong to a Chrysler car club and found this is a common failure for this year model. I have contacted Chrysler and am waiting for their opinion. I am told the top replacement is about $3000. 00.

25 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

Adhesive holding rear window in place began to separate from convertible top. Other Crossfire owners have reported total failure. This is a significant safety issue if/when the rear window completely separates and detaches from the vehicle and poses a hazard to others I. E. , pedestrian, motorcycle riders, etc. All the tops were produced by the same manufacturer (karmann) although Chrysler is only willing to replace certain 2005 models based on the state they were originally sold. This makes no sense, Chrysler and the natsa should recall all tops produced and replace them with a top with the rear window attached with some type of improved adhesive so the risk to others is eliminated.

26 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 05/02/2011

Rear window simply falls out of Chrysler Crossfire convertible top. No support for glass other than thin strip of heat seal to canvass. Could be serious if failure at speed. Chrysler offers CO-pay ($890. 00) to owner for a new top so they acknowledge the problem.

27 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Glass convertible window on a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire roadster has become detached from the cloth top and could fly out of the opening.

28 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 10/31/2009

Vandalism to convertible top, slashed. Convertible top needs to be replaced, replacing top by manufacture will take until at least January 29, 2010 from October. This is hazardous due to driving with a slashed top creates a major noise distraction as well as inclement weather problems such as snow and rain distracts driver and may somewhat impair vision etc.

29 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Chrysler Crossfire

Failure Date: 06/12/2005

The convertible top will not open when the red light is lit on the rear spoiler button. If you drive 75 feet or so the red light goes off on the spoiler button and then the top will open. The top also will not close when this light is lit unless you drive until it goes out.
