The contact owns a owns a 1999 Chrysler Lhs. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 03v035000 (seats:front assembly:recliner). While parked, the front driver's seat unexpectedly reclined. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the seat back recliner bolt was broken. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately eight months later the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer where the seat was again repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

2 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 2000 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 05/25/2008

The contact owns a 2000 Chrysler Lhs. When the contact entered the vehicle, he leaned back in the seat and it reclined all the way to the floor. He located a recall related to his failure and called the manufacturer regarding the recliner bolt in the driver's seat. He was informed that the repair had already been performed on his vehicle; however, he would have to pay approximately $1,000 to repair and install the seat again. The current and failure mileages were 90,000.

3 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 2001 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 07/05/2005

Consumer's wife worked at a place where she parked by concrete posts. When she was backing out of parking space, the seat back malfunctioned, causing her to hit the side mirror. Consumer checked vehicle when wife got home and seat seemed to be locked in place. Today consumer was traveling on a dirt road when the back of the seat collapsed. The consumer ran up onto the berm that was along the side of the road. Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and dealer would not look at vehicle without charging $94. 00 . Seat will not stay in place. If one touches the seat with any pressure the back seat will fall. Consumer is worried that the seat might fail on the highway while doing high speed. When the seat goes up and down consumer can hear a noise. Consumer says he will not drive on highway because of concern for what might happen.

4 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 1999 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 03/17/2003

Vehicle's seat back reclining bolt experienced the same defect as stated in recall number 03 v 035 000. The consumer vehicle was not included due to VIN.

5 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 1999 Chrysler LHS

Failure Date: 03/13/2003

The vehicle experienced the same problem as sated in recall 03 v 035 000, however the vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

6 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 1997 Chrysler LHS

Driver's side seat backrest broke due to broken bolt while driving. The entire seat collapsed backwards when driver entered. Been to dealer & mechanic installed bolt on the side of seat & a put a board in back. On 11/14 was informed vehicle should not have left shop with a board in back. Dealership taking full responsibilty for problem.

7 Front Seat Recliner problem of the 1999 Chrysler LHS

The vehicle was taken to the dealer to fix the seat bolt which was on recall. There is still a problem with the seat. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again which stated the seat needed a new recliner.
