1 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/19/2017

Official Chrysler service repair shop has been doing my oil changes every 3 months - 4 times a year since 2005 when I purchased the car. Not once has their mechanic mentioned the rust of the cross member. I only found out and took pictures this week when I had a local shop change my breaks and do transmission service and they showed me the rust, could not believe that no one ever mentioned this as it was extreme with cracks and holes and that Chrysler is aware of this issue regarding rust on cross member due to them not properly coating the engine cradle. Chrysler has had certain VIN #'s recalled, but claim not mine though build in 2004, I am in a snow belt state ( NY). They don't want to take responsibility. I am afraid to drive car, dangerous and engine can fall out - could cost $4000-5000 to repair front and back - and unfortunately I don't have finances to purchase a new car. I just want my car covered under their warrantee. This problem did not happen over night. I only have 127,000 miles and rarely drive in the snow as it is awful in the snow.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/29/2017

Mechanic lifted my 2005 Pacifica (150,000+ miles), to change what we thought was a bad crank shaft sensor. While on lift, noticed the engine cradle was over 75% cracked and rusted. He advised this is a very severe driving hazzard for me and my 3 children to drive and due to the cracking, the engine could fall at any time. He would not repair and stayed if I were to find a mechanic willing to repair this, is be looking at at least $3000. Very upset and worried that this being my means of transportanrion, will it be safe if repaired ?.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/30/2016

Had my 2005 Pacifica in the shop to replace the muffler when they got it up on the rack they found the engine cradle on the passenger side of the car was so rotted they advised me not to drive it. Called the dealership and they estimated the cost for repair at $3700. Chrysler was notified of the problem and advised me that they would not help financially with any repair costs. What will it take to issue a recall? people dying? do your job NHTSA. Recall these cars before someone gets seriously hurt!.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2015

The auto lights went out on passenger side, when turning wheels to the left it has cracking & popping noise, brakes are hard to stop, to many recalls, under carriage is rusted.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/17/2015

I only purchased my vehicle 1 year ago. The first month I had it, I tried to have it inspected and was told my sub-frame was rotted. I contacted the Chrysler company and there were no recalls. I contacted the dealer and they wouldnt help me. My check engine light is on because the O2 sensors are bad and now my power steering is leaking and I was told the steering rack is bad. I've also had to replace my inner and outter tie rods on both sides and also replaced the sway bar links. I am a single mom with 3 kids and this car has been a huge burden on me financially. I made a huge mistake buying a Chrysler.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2014

I have a 2005 Chrysler pacific that has about 100,000 miles on it. In August of 2014, I took the vehicle to the Chrysler dealership in downers grove IL on ogden for an oil change. Once they had the vehicle up on the rack, they saw extensive sub frame rust damage and told me that soon the vehicle should not be drivable due to the sub frame that is rusted through and deteriorating. This is premature engine cradle rust failure. They said it was a costly repair and that Chrysler wouldn¿t cover anything because it was out of warranty. This is not acceptable, I have taken very good care of this car and the mileage is considerably low. I have also spoken with Chrysler and opened a case with them but they said they will not cover any repairs because my vehicle was built a few months after the range that they are fixing.

7 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

My car was running great, suddenly all the warning lights on the dash came on- car still ran fine until I parked it, and couldn't get it to come out of gear. Finally was able to put in drive, took it to the Dodge/chrylser/Jeep dealer and told them the problem and I had looked on line and many other vehicles like mine were having the same problem, several suggested it to be the starter switch even though it would be suggested it was the computer (bcm). Dealer told me that very thing, it was the bcm and on top of that they tell me my engine cradle was "severly cracked causing the vehicle to be unsafe to drive" cost $5298. 00 to fix. Needless to say I tried to find out if there was a recall- there must be, my car is only 9yrs old and shouldn't be ready for the scrap yard. Well it turns out there wsa a recall for the engine cradle but only for a select number of Pacifica's which of course did not include mine. I would like Chrysler to voluntarily recall these cars for the cracked engine cradle, there could be hundreds of people driving out there that don't know they risk their engines falling out while they drive. This could cause serious accidents which no doubt could lead to fatalities.

8 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2014

I was driving on the highway going about 55 (mph) when I went over a pothole. After that my car started making a rattling noise. My mechanic checked the car and said it was the rack and pinion but then he discovered that the whole engine cradle was rusted and corroded and told me it was very dangerous for me to drive the vehicle until I made the proper repaired which is replacing the entire engine cradle.

9 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2014

I am a single mom of 2 boys 8 & 4. I drove 3 hours away with my sister who is married with a 1 yr old boy and home totaling more than 6 hours. The next day I was driving out of the church parking lot with my boys in the car when I hear a huge clunk. I thought I had just blew a tire, which was infuriating because I'd just spent $400 on replacing tires 2 days prior, but when I got out the tires were fine. I drove 1 mile home and told my brother in law and dad about the problem. They both crawled under and saw the sub frame all rusted out and cracked. I took it to a neighborhood mechanic who quotes around 2k to fix. I had another come look at the car and quoted around the same. Both said it was not to be driven at all. The noise was quite likely the engine rocking around, and could have literally fallen out. I called Chrysler and was told that I was out of the window to get any help. The wear and tear was normal for my cars age and mileage. I would not get any help. I just want it noted that I have read articles with many complaints. Does someone have to die first? a 6 hour drive and 3 children very easily could have been without their moms if my engine had fallen out when I was going down the highway at 75mph. Shame on Chrysler and shame on anyone who knows about this problem and does nothing!.

10 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2014

The engine cradle or subframe is entirely rusted through, I have been told by a mechanic that they engine could likely fall through the bottom of the car. The hole in the subframe is large enough to put your hand through on one side and cracking on the other.

11 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2013

Violent shaking of 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. Took 2005 Chrysler Pacifica in for inspection and was told the engine cradle crossmember was rotted and the bolts that hold the power steering rack and engine up were missing. Mechanic told me he would not release the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica back to me because it was unsafe to drive. Called Chrysler and they told me they would do nothing to repair it.
