Exessive cradle rot or rust holding ip engine. Makes it unsafe to drive. Can put my hand in frame through rust hole. This was brought to my attention by northgate Chrysler on colerain in cincinnati. The service manage says she sees a lot of this problem.
To my understanding I just bought my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica 3 weeks ago and went to get the oil changed and the mechanics could not get the screw out and they told me that my sub frame that hold the engine was all rusted out and can cause me to have a fatal accident and I was also told that there was a recall on these vehicles about that and I will need to know how to get my car repaired on the subframe, I seen it with my own eyes how the sub frame is rusted and cracked and corrison, I am glad they told me now I can't drive my Pacifica due to this and can't get my oil changed, the oil mechanic took a picture. . Please help me take care of this.
Rusted subframe discovered when performing regular oil change.

Front sub-frame has rusted through rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive. This is the exact same failure as many other reports you have received on this vintage, make and model vehicle. Fca has refused to offer any assistance toward the repair and my local mechanic reported that new replacement sub-frames are not even available - leaving consumers with the choice of recycling the vehicle at a salvage yard, repairing it with what is obviously flawed oem components, or keep it as lawn decoration. I have taken the vehicle off the road and am thankful the problem was discovered prior to my wife or son experiencing a catastrophic failure while driving. It is only a matter of time before someone looses a life because of this defect. Be proactive and force fca to repair these failures - regardless of mileage - or this organization is part of the problem.
Rusted through sub frame.
Body frame rusting outler Pacifica.
Sub frame rust, do to Chrysler not correctly coating the subframe on the 2005 Chrysler Pacifica, the sub frame rusts away making the engine unsecured potently causing the engine to drop potently causing a multiple car incident or death.
A few months ago, I noticed a shaking in the steering wheel of my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica. It seemed to became much worse, very quickly, to the point of where I could barely hold the car straight, so I took it in this week for a brake inspection. The problem isn't the brakes at all. . The entire unibody frame and engine carriage have completely rusted and deteriorated!! the mechanic told me that the vehicle wasn't safe to even drive home! he was able to push his finger through the carriage, and said that the engine is about to fall out onto the ground! both axels are also rusted almost completely off. It's horrible! I am attaching pictures. . . . And, as it turns out, Chrysler knows about this Pacifica rust issue! I decided to search the internet for "2005 Chrysler Pacifica rust", and it isn't just my car! Chrysler knows that I, and so many others, are out here driving our babies around in vehicles with rusted out frames that could snap at any second!!! (ie. Chrysler initially issued recall of 2004-05 Pacifica, citing potential unibody rust. . Later rescinded the offer. ) (NHTSA [as early as oct 2004] 10008424, 10044109, 10045080, 10010501. . . ) (class-action lawsuit filed in 2014 against Chrysler by Pacifica owners. Lawsuit denied due to Chrysler 2009 bankruptcy. ) note: this message will only allow me to attach one photo. One photo doesn't adequately show the depth of the situation. Both axels are rusted almost completely off, as well as the engine cradle. Please contact me to view additional photos. Thank you.
Took my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica into the mechanic for front end noise. The mechanic discovered that my sub frame is rusted out. The mechanic is concerned that my engine could fall out.
Subframe nearly rusted through at welds. Frame has almost no rust, but again, subframe so rusted car is unsafe to drive. I dont know what else can explain except something was missed in production. Researching online I have found that to be a frequent problem with this vehicle. Rust was found while performing oil change. There hasnt been an accident but the subframe that holds the engine is rusting through so I dont want to drive and find my engine on the ground.
On February 20th, 2017 I took my car in for an oil change and the tech pulled me in the shop to show me that my subframe is rusted.
Dealer is saying the engine cradle is rusting out and that it needs to be replaced. There is almost no rust on the vehicle yet this important part of the frame is rusting out?.
We have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica touring edition with 69005 miles. Beautiful automobile, we store it in the winter, no rust anywhere on the body. We brought it in to the dealer for an oil change and nys inspection. The dealer informed us that the front and rear cradle of the frame had rusted and deteriorated so badly that the vehicle would not pass nys inspection and was unsafe to drive. The cost to repair was $4626. 00. I found a service bulletin that stated that Chrysler was extending the warranty on the Pacifica to vehicles in the canadian market and salt belt states to 150,000 miles but for reasons that they would not explain, my vehicle was covered even though I live in upstate NY, an obvious salt belt state. This is clearly a latent defect in this model rendering the vehicle unsafe and should be recalled and repaired by Chrysler.
I took my vehicle in for new tires and an alignment and was told by the mechanic that I have rust rot in the subframe. Which now I know is called cradle rot. I contacted Chrysler and they said there was nothing they would do.
At the service dealer today I was told that my engine carriage frame is so rusted that it is not safe to drive. The sides are also severely rusted. I bought this car new and have serviced it every 3000 miles. I go through the car wash in the winter alot. I learned that Chrysler was aware of this problem early on. Why was I not nofitied of this, so my car could have been under coated ( which should have been done as soon as the problem was noticed) and I could still be driving it. I am 71 and on ss, and planned on this being my last car. Now, it can't be fixed and I couldn't with a clear conscience trade or sell it. Wouldn't want a family with kids in the car, going down the road and have the engine fall out. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed before someone is killed. My car looks like brand new inside and out. I meticulously took care of it. At 153,000 miles, I think it is just getting broke in, only to find that that underside is broke, rusted, done! please do something. Thank you.
I brought my cart to my mechanic for a routine service and when my mechanic put it on the lift, he called us shortly after, and wanted us to come in to see the vehicle on the lift. . The car's frame was rusting through on both the front and back. He told us it was unsafe to drive and that he saw this on other Pacifica's th he serviced. He stated he never saw this occur on other brands now we have no vehicle to drive. The car is in good condition and has about 85,000 miles. If this car was driven on the highway, as we planned for the holiday weekend (July 4) without bringing it ti a mechanic, we could have been killed. How does safety of passengers get compromised when it appears that 7000 cars were produced and hundreds of complaints with this specific problerm on this model have been filed!.
