general problems of the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica - part 2

Vehicle is slamming into gear generally in 2nd or 3rd gear. . We have contacted Chrysler corporate as well as the dealer multiple times however we are told they cannot replicate. The problem continues to worsen.

The vehicle's stop/start system shut down the car unexpectedly while the car was in the process of making a left turn and could have caused an accident. It was fixed, then a few months later it was under a separate recall. Recently the system malfunctioned again and again does not work.

Loss of power while driving at a high speed, 60-70 mph. This problem was said to be addressed in a January 2018. On November 9,2018 while on i75 north bound lane in toledo, ohio, by exit 200, in the left hand lane at about 1:00 pm, the Pacifica lost all . Power. When I went to shut the engine off a warning came on saying "car must be in park to stop. I then put the shift nob to drive, the car then tried to backup. I then put the indicator back to park and this time the engine shut off. I then restarted the car. Everything seemed normal. With road rangers assistance, I then went to the nearest Chrysler dealer. They then checked everything out with their computer. It showed previous glitches, but everything was working as normal. I then proceeded on my journey. I called Chrysler car and documented the problem.

Transmission shifting issue. Vehicle was at a complete stop. When acceleration from stop and making a right turn , the vehicle acted like it slipped out of gear and back into gear. This caused a violent motion in the car. At times when I step on the gas to accelerate the transmission does not always engage properly and it slips causing a delay in taking off. I have had it back to the dealer for all upgrades or reprograms for this problem and yet the problem still persists.

Car was in motion, in traffic, using cruise control on a two lane highway. An attempt was made to accelerate and pass the slower car ahead. When accelerating to override the cruise control, the car decelerated and felt as though the brakes were being engaged. Fortunately oncoming traffic did not approach before the car was able to limp back the lane. Mullane motors serviced the vehicle to fix the problem. Two days later the car again decelerated when applying gas to proceed, a warning flash appeared that said electronic throttle needs to be serviced. All this happened a few moths after we had our car to the dealership for the recall regarding the cruise control and two days after servicing to fix the deceleration happening as gas pedal is depressed.

The vehicle shut off as if the "key" had been turned off in the middle of traffic while moving, on the highway accompanied by the message "shift to park" my wife shifted to park then restarted it, the vehicle continued to repeat this multiple times until she was able to make it to an exit ramp and park in a safe area. This is the second time this has happened in the span of about 8 months. It has been to 2 dealers, both times we where told that no codes where stored internally therefor they didnt know what to repair. Our van has been modified for a wheelchair for our disabled teenager because of this we have no choice but to keep driving it in this condition. Not to mention how undependable it feels.

I was driving the car on a 5 lane highway going approx 50 mph when the car shut off. The gas pedal stopped working and the car began to decelerate. On the console it told me to then put the car in p to start the car. I was able to pull over and restart the car however it happened again within 10 minutes of driving. It has proceeded to happen 10-20 times and cars is now in the shop. This is a very dangerous thing to have happen when you are driving.

Driving, pulling out of driveway and vehicle shut off, would not shift or restart.

Unable to gas up the vehicle pump keeps cutting off. Vehicle will not take the fuel every time I try to gas up.

As of today, my new van has been in service 13 of the 15 days I have owned it. Not even 12 hours after bringing my new van home, I noticed some lagging/slight jerk after braking going around 20 mph. The next day, in a neighborhood (thank goodness) after turning right after a stop sign, the check engine light came on with a ding and blinking and I was unable to accelerate. I coasted into my friends driveway to put in park and the van began to shake. This went on a few min and because I was on my way to work, I left the driveway and continued on my way for 10 min. The check engine light came on two more times after that. After four days in service, they finally concluded it was the O2 sensors and replaced all of those. After it was fixed, my husband couldn't even make it home before the check engine light came back on. As of yesterday, computer modules have been updated and the check engine light still comes on and they can't pinpint where the misfire is happening.

Vehicle engine and electrical system shut down while driving 35 mph in traffic. Total looks of power steering also occurred. Our family with small children also were in the car. This could have been much worse if it occurred at highway speeds on a busier road. Once stopped the dash alerted us to shift to park to restart vehicle. We did but car would not start. No attempt to turn over at all. Put flashers on and parts of dash, uconnect screen and interior lights flashed also. Car has 10,000 miles only and has been relatively trouble free to this point. I see many like complaints on this website and in online forums. To date it seems reading feedback from others affected, even after multiple occurrences and trips to the dealership, Chrysler has not identified a root cause or been able to permanently resolve the issue. This is a huge safety issue and we will not drive this car again without a definite resolution.

I have two occasions where my vehicle stalled. 1. I was driving at 40 mph on the highway and everything went dead, I coasted to a stop on the side and was able to put it in park and restart. The second time I was stopped at a light on a side street, and started to go from a stop to a left turn and the vehicle start to go and suddenly went dead. I put it in park and restarted. No engine lights, nothing to tell me where the problem was. I am taking it in for service.

Car shut off during driving and told me to shift into park and then restarted and took off fast for a few feet.

I was driving in a neighborhood area approaching my community service event at a boys and girls club. Searching for street parking, I was about to slow down releasing my accelerator pedal and suddenly the car stalls. I safely steer to the right and make a stop in attempt to move out of the way in a busy street. The screen on my car instructs me to put my gear back to park in order to continue, I shift it to park as it says on the screen and the screen instruction remains the same. The start button light is indicating that my car is still on so I shift my gear to drive and stepped on my accelerator pedal. The engine revs, but it does not move. I put my gear back to park and pushed the button to turn the engine off. Then I push the start button again to turn it back on. This time I shift it to drive and I am finally able to drive forward. I was stuck in the stalled position for a few minutes in a panic trying to figure out what was going on. Imagine if this happened on a freeway or a very busy major street. It would be very dangerous to me and my family as well as other drivers around. I demand a safety recall for the safety of my family and others.

I was driving on the highway with congested traffic at around 10mph. Without any prior alert, the engine shut off by itself and the vehicle lost its power. I had to turn the transmission to p from d and restart the vehicle.

Vehicle lost motive power while attempting to excelerate from a stop on a city street. Vehicle was restarted but loud clunking noise and violent shaking came from engine compartment. Vehicle was towed and has been at the local dealer since with little communication about a prognosis or permanent fix.

While stopped at a traffic light, the ess feature of the vehicle typically stops the engine to reduce co2 emissions and supposedly save on gas. As soon as I release the brakes, the engine re-starts and off I go. However, in this instance, after I let go of the brakes, the vehicle began rolling backwards, which caused me to step on the brakes right away or I would have hit the car behind me. I let go of the brakes again, then the engine restarted as usual. This is very concerning and a potential safety issue.

My wife was driving on a city highway at a normal rate of speed during rush hour and the vehicle's engine suddenly shut off and the vehicle abruptly slowed. The dash board then showed a message that read "shift to p to start. " thankfully she was able to steer the car to the shoulder without being hit by another driver. As soon as the car came to a full stop she was able to turn the electronic shifter to park and restart the car.

The vehicle suddenly appeared to shift into neutral, while still in "drive", going approximately 40 mph. The accelerator was completely unresponsive and driver was unable to shift into another gear. The vehicle repeatedly said "not in park" while in park, showed the reverse camera while in drive, and would not accelerate when in drive. Fortunately the driver noticed the check engine light had come on and was pulling into a gas station when the unresponsive accelerator occurred, otherwise a collision would most definitely have happened.

My car on occasion had been feeling like it was cutting out, I thought I got some bad gas so I switched stations and noticed it less. Then about a month later, it just turned off in route. I was at a four way stop accelerated to go and it started out, I made it into the middle of the intersection and the car turned off. It gave a notice by steering column that it needs to be in park to start engine or something. It did it with about 13,000 miles on it. I was able to start the van after I put it in park with foot on brake and continue on. It happened so fast I was not sure what went wrong? now I read that many have had this happen as well. I am fearful now it will happen when I am going higher speeds, etc. This needs to be fixed!.

Fca stated that the their t34 recall campaign (NHTSA recall #17v-371) was scheduled to start "on or about July 24, 2017. " July 24, 2017 has come and gone with no updates from fca to owners on the proposed fix or schedule for parts availability. The recall letter has not yet been posted to the fca website. The link to the associated pdf for recall t34 results in a "page not found" error. Their customer service line has no further information. Their dealers have no further information. Fca is not addressing this recall with an appropriate level of urgency, given that it was issued on June 7. In the meantime, the safety defect continues to exist with no timeline for resolution. As fca states, "a loss of motive power could cause a crash without warning. ".

The van has less than 200 miles in it when it stated stalling. It now has 205 miles, and it has stalled(engine stopped) 5 times already. This occured when decelerating or when fully stopped with the gears still in drive. The engine will stop and a message on the dashboard to put the vehicle in park to start will appear. Restarting the engine is normal with no issues.

Windows roll down by themselves vehicle in park. One time vehicle places self in park when braking pulling into a parking lot. One occurrence, vehicle placed self in park and died in stop and go traffic on interstate. Heated seats wired backward.

While driving on a busy street, my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica suddenly lost the ability to accelerate. I was in an intersection pumping the gas pedal with nothing happening. The warning message on the dash read "shift vehicle to park" (or similar). I coasted to a stop with cars nearly missing me, shifted to park, turned the car off, then turned it back on, shifted to drive and pulled directly into a parking lot. I called Chrysler roadside and was towed to the dealership where my car is now. According to what I'm seeing on Chrysler forums, this is beginning to happen across the country & Chrysler is not addressing this extremely serious situation. Thank you for your time and I look forward to a response.

Had the car for 23 hours. Less than 5000 miles. After pulling the car to the end of the driveway and 3/4 of the way into our road it began to shake violently, so much so that one of our daughters burst in to tears (the one that never cries). The shaking lasted some time, along with grinding noises. The car flashed a dozen different codes as well as indicating that the parking break was not available. The van was completely dead in the road with five children inside and cars having to swerve around to make it through the nearly blocked road. The van would not respond to restarting in any way. We quickly tried to remove all five kids as safely as possible. After calling our dealership they told us we needed to call Chrysler service and towing. After waiting over an hour, with the car in the middle of the road, the tow truck arrived. The tow truck driver was able to replicate the violent shaking and stated that someone "really screwed something up with this van. " he could not put the van in neutral because of the malfunctions and had to use slides to get it on top of the tow truck. We had been heading to the freeway and I can only imagine what would have happened to our family if this had died on the freeway with an 18 wheeler behind us. We easily could have all been killed. Where we live, the large trucks fill the freeway and from other stories we've been reading about failure of Chrysler Pacifica hybrids (and there are a lot of them) vans are dying in the middle of roads; a potentially deadly problem. Chrysler dealership has no idea what's wrong or how to fix it. Corporate is not returning calls.

Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle had suddenly experienced unintended acceleration cause the vehicle to erroneously increase speeds. Also while accelerating from a stand start the emergency parking brake would erroneously activate causing the vehicle to abruptly stop. In addition while at a stop light economy fuel feature would malfunction and the engine would not automatically restart when pressing the fuel pedal. The also had experience electrical malfunctions that caused failures to the wind shield wipers and the door would not lock. The vehicle was taken to the local dealers cherry hill Chrysler(1708 west NJ Ave cherry hill NY. ) and rockwall Chrysler(970 east interstate 30, rockwell TX) who performed a software updates but the failures continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified(case 59711728, 64570746, 71804423) of the failures. The failure mileage was 10,000. Jft.

While driving our minivan it stalls or it seems like the gas isn’t getting to the engine. It has happened when I’ve been accelerating from a side road across a very busy road on more thank e occasion. We thought it was the gas we were using. Now we’ve been advised it is due to a “crank shaft sensor”. (?) we may not be eligible to get it fixed because we got our 2017 Pacifica in oct 2016, drove it approx. 15,000 miles/ year so we may not be able to get it fixed for free.
