Component failute: first the cruse control would stop working while driving. Then the engine would rive way up while trying to accelerate and not gain much speed, gas mpg dropped. When breaking to stop I had to push the break pedal harder. When the cruse had stopped and I shut the engine off, it was hard to start, and would bump and shake as if it was hitting on 2 cylinders, cruse still would not work. After I made it home, the next time I started it, it was ok, then the last time I parked it the brake will not depress and it will not start. Battery has 12 volts, jumped it anyway break still want depress. Took battery cables off shorted them together , did not help. Break pedal still will not depress.
Brakes hiss and won't slow the car down well. Issue is with the brake booster. The car creep forward or sometimes not stop in time. The peddle pushes back against you when depressing it.
When you are pushing the brakes the brakes want to push against you and go forward. It also wants to not steer the direction that you are steering sometimes making it very dangerous.
1. Brakes give way and cannot stop car until halfway into intersection. Brake is metal to metal. Hear clanking sound………. Also 2. When stepping on brake, car speeds up. I’ve had 2 accidents by rear ending car in front of me. This has happened 4-5 times this past year.
The car doesn't stop when break is pressed all the way down has newer brake pads, practically slides into intersections and other vehicles. Has appointment at dealer on July first but they stated no recall is issued for this problem.
The brake pedal felt spongy and did not engage without me pumping the brakes at a traffic light. I had to quickly change lanes to get the brakes to engage. Otherwise I would have crashed into the vehicle in front of me. Also sometimes when sitting at a traffic light the brake pedal pulls away at random as if it is disengaging which cause the car to roll forward. I have to again pump the brake pedal. This issue has occurred 2-3 times so far. I took the van to two different auto repair shops. One shop said it’s the brake booster. I got a second opinion at another mechanic shop and he did not find a problem with the car and could not recreate the problem. The second mechanic indicated it is most likely a Chrysler specific problem and the car should be taken back to the dealer. As the car needs to stop when the brakes are depressed as it could cause an auto accident. I was advised to check to see if there is already a recall relating to the abs brakes system for the Chrysler Pacifica. I also mentioned the electronic stability control service light is coming on the dashboard display at times.
My brake starts hissing, and starts pushing back against my leg. It happens much when I push brake padel then it hissing sound and brake padel pushes back, the vehicle starts crawling. I got messege blind spot monitor unavailable. Engine hood paint fall off, easy visible paint fall off or peeling paint. This one I brought used car from alm gwinnett.
Brake booster has failed. There was previously an extended warranty published for this same issue on November 11, 2023 (no d-22-15) for xa7 brake booster, however that expires after 5 years after the vehicle was placed in service or 150,000 miles (whichever is sooner). The brake booster failure on our vehicle happened just a few short months after this "expiration date" of the extended warranty. Also, the date of the extended warranty was issued was November 2023. This left only 5 months from the issuance of the letter to the expiration of the warranty, which does not seem to be a reasonable amount of time. Our vehicle is not safe to drive as the brakes are not functioning properly which could result in serious and fatal injury's to the occupants or other vehicles on the roadway. Additionally repair parts are not available to purchase and are on a "national back order". Attention needs to be given to this topic as there are many vehicles on the road that are not safe because of this lack of quality.
The vehicle's brake booster is going out. The vehicle's warranty was already extended once but is now out of that 5-year timeframe. This issue began about 2 weeks ago. Now, the brake pushes back and doesn't want to engage which poses the risk of rear-ending someone. Chrysler is aware of this situation and refuses to extend or fix the issue.
When at a stopped position, the brake pedal gets stiff and starts pushing back … and then the car starts creeping forward. I’ve almost hit countless cars in drive-through, and my car tries to creep through red lights. It’s also very hard to brake. I went to one shop and they said it was the brake booster and vacuum hose , and that a lot of people were complaining about this issue in the Pacifica’s. I took the car to a Chrysler dealership to get it repaired and they said the brake booster is on back order because it’s a common problem. The only way to get the car to stop from rolling when you’ve got the brake on is to slam down on the brake (then it’s a crazy crunching sound) or to throw it into park before it gets you into traffic. It’s scary and it’s not safe.
My brake boosters failed causing me to not be able to stop adequately. The brakes would not fully compress.
My breaks stopped worked due to a failed brake booster. I would compress the brake and it would let out air and not adequately stop. When it did finally stop, it would propel me forward. This became very dangerous for my family and I.
While @ highway speed this vehicle lost ipower steering, power braking and the engine stalled out…this latest event prompted my complaint and was the third time I have experienced this situation. In all three incidents I was simply able to coast to the side of the road and stop. Thankfully after a few attempts to restart the vehicle started and ran. It was very frightening given it lost total power on all three occasions without notice or warning it like it just turns itself off. I contacted rollx vans the folks from whom we purchased this handicap transport vehicle and they informed me of a safety recall v53 for 2017-2019 Pacificas. The recall details the exact symptoms of what I experienced. I took the recall information and the vehicle to a local dealership larry h miller Chrysler, tucson az and they mostly dismissed my account and said there is no recall on my VIN despite the v53 recall. They said the tech couldn’t get it to duplicate and situation. They said they checked the grounds and it’s all ok. I am not convinced considering the timeline of their alleged repair and the answers I rec’d from the service writer when I asked specifics about the repair. I suspect they simply test drove it when it did not duplicate the situation they said it’s ok.
The power brake booster was failing and causing the vehicle to not stop as expected. When it was brought to an auto mechanic a few weeks after noticing the issue, they described it as appearing defective beyond normal wear-and-tear and reminiscent of a recall for earlier year models of Chrysler Pacificas. The issue caused the vehicle to not respond to the pushing of the brakes and required a pumping of the brakes until the vehicle stopped. Occasionally, when the brakes were depressed and the car was at rest, the vehicle would start moving and the brake pedal would push strongly against being depressed. There were no warning lamps or messages associated with this issue; the issue was discovered simply by noticing that the brakes were not working as they should.
Repeated several times leakage of brake liquid. The mechanic said that there is the manufacturer's defect and must be fixed.
Hello, my vehicle's brake booster is part of a safety recall and warranty extension by Chrysler. When I called the company servicing the reimbursement for these repairs I was told that the repair work could only be performed at a Chrysler (or associated brand) dealership. I believe this may not be legal as warranty repairs should be able to be performed by any certified mechanic. That information was given to me by contacting the following number given on the warranty recall repair letter: fca us llc customer care at 1-800-247-9753 I still intend to have this repaired, but do not believe I should be required to have it done at a dealership. Thank you. Ari doucette doucettea@gmail. Com.
1. The brake booster on my 2019 Pacifica failed, resulting in a collision at a red light. 2. I replaced the brake booster myself since the car was just out of warranty 3. Three months later, Chrysler sent a letter to an address that I have not lived at for 15 yrs and never had this Pacifica registered at - the letter said that the warranty period for the brake booster has been extended for 2018-2020 Chrysler Pacificas 4. Chrysler denied my reimbursement request because I did not have the replacement brake booster installed at a Chrysler dealer 5. My colleague has a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica which also suffered a brake booster failure, but is not covered under this warranty extension. 6. I called 3 separate dealers and multiple parts stores . . . . No one had a replacement brake booster in stock. The earliest I could get a replacement was 1 week by ordering it online. It appears that brake booster replacements are in high demand for this vehicle. -why is this a warranty extension rather than a recall? -why is Chrysler denying reimbursements for part costs? -why is 2017 not included in Chrysler's warranty extension? -why is Chrysler doing a terrible job of notifying owners (using addresses over 15 yrs old) rather than using addresses listed with the dmv or addresses used when purchasing the vehicles?.
When I come to a stop(or sometimes not even fully) then accelerate to pull off, the rear end or something hesitates & then rams/jerks to the point I thought I was rear ended. This happens several times per week. Also, sometimes there’s no power when I do try proceed through light/stops. It’s like there’s little to no power for about 10 seconds. The breaks are quite loud but dealer says they are good.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated while his wife was driving at various speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the pedal went to the floorboard but failed to stop the vehicle. The driver heard an abnormal sound and continued to pump on the brake pedal until the vehicle stopped. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to continue driving to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the brake line to be bled. The vehicle was repaired but his wife continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the power brake booster to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
When did I stop for a extended time the brake pedal will lose pressure the harder you push and the car starts moving you have to let up on the break and push it again sometimes you have to set the parking brake or the car will keep rolling.
Multiple issues. First the ess system has malfunctioned twice since purchase in 2019, required maintenance and aux battery replacement twice within 1 year. The major issue is the breaks/rotors/suspension. For the last year and a half I have been taking the van in for inspections. . . Initially stated I did not need brakes/rotors at the dealership even though I was having slight squeaking and grinding, after bring it back a third time I was told OH yea you need them and its gonna cost $1,800. I then got a second opinion, they said the brakes and pads looked fine but if I wanted they would replace the pads in an attempt to make the squeaking stop. The squeaking stopped for about 10 days but the grinding and "metal rubbing" sound never has, they replaced the pads 3 more times. They stated it is not the brakes/rotors but fail to give a reason. He mentioned it is a body suspension issue, which I have been asking about for over a year. Very frustrating. Also my sliding van doors keep malfunctioning to work sometimes, or require manual opening and closing with no apparent reason. So disappointed with less then 60,000 miles.
When you come to a stop at a stop light and hold the brake it stiffens up and you start to roll forward. It has been a near death experience every time. So now at stop light I have to put the van in park, which afraid after doing for so long that will wear out.
Four times in the last week the brakes have failed! twice it coasted farther than normal when coming to a stop and twice more the brake pedal pushed back against my foot when already at a complete stop, causing the car to roll forward even though my foot was attempting to keep the brake pedal pressed. I had to lift my foot and slam it back down to stop the vehicle. There is a hissing sound when depressing the pedal. A quick google search points to brake booster with multiple reports for this make/model. This needs to be recalled! we are taking it to a dealership in the morning. Zero warning lights or indicators.
Brake pedal pushes up against your foot and vehicle rolls forward even though my foot is firmly pressing down. Several instances. Further research has shown this is a common issue with this make and model. Dealership doesn't not cover the work and is booked out over two months.
Hissing when pushing on the brake pedal and drops to the floor easier than any car I have ever owned. Occasionally it has issues stopping in a reasonable distance. I pushed the brakes down and rolled about 4 feet past the line in an intersection. Will roll with brakes pressed at a stop light. I see a lot of these complaints now and wondering why there has not been a recall as of yet. . . It is the braking system of the car and a car is to do only a few things without fail, acceleration and stopping. . .
While traveling in the left hand lane I was hit on the right side pushing me into a median. I applied the brakes and they didn’t stop the vehicle. When the van came into contact with the curb. The airbags deployed. I smelt smoke and told my 4 young children in the back seat we needed to get out now. Two of my children were in 5 pt harness car seats in the third row. We were able to run to a safe area before it went up in flames less than a few mins later. There were no witnesses and no one around. My children and I could of been seriously injured or worse. No warning lights were active. No signs of failure until I tried pressing the brakes. The vehicle was inspected by the fire department that arrived on scene when it was fully engulfed in flames at that point.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, he kept having to depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. However, the vehicle would not stop completely. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with brake booster failure. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that it was a known failure; however, parts to fix the vehicle were on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,100.
I was stopped while waiting for kids to get in the car and I heard a loud hissing noise. The noise stopped when I released the brakes. Each time I pressed the breaks, the hissing continued - no matter how long the brake pedal was being pressed. The dealership seemed very unconcerned and told me it would be two weeks before I could even get in for a diagnosis. In the days leading up to the appointment, I was on the freeway going 55mph. A car in front of me stopped quickly and I slammed on the brakes as hard as I could. We slowed down, but did not stop nearly as quickly as one would hope. We barely missed hitting the car in front of us. We drove immediately to the dealership and left the van with them until our appointment time. The part needed to fix it (brake booster) is on backorder and our van will now be sitting at the dealership for who knows how long. There were no warning lights on the car, so I did not suspect the issue was this bad. The hissing had only began less than two weeks prior. Car only has 30,000 miles on it and has been up to date on maintenance.
While driving on highway, brakes did not respond quickly and vehicle did not slow down. I had to stand on the brake to get the car to stop. This repeated itself multiple times over the next few days and is ongoing. There is a hissing sound like there is some air system at work and the break pushes back at your feet while breaking. Called the local dealer who did not have an appointment for several weeks. Dealer claims there is no known issue. But online and there are dozens of complaints and here on the NHTSA website there are over 25 complaints about this issue.
My brakes were hissing when pressed and started squealing. Shortly after this when I tried to stop I came inches from hitting the car in front of me. I have also noticed when this is happening the auto shut off feature is not working. My dealer can’t even look at my car for a couple of weeks to see what may be causing the issue. I have seen reports of others having this issue as well which is a huge safety concern.
The van's brakes failed on 8/4/21. I had my foot on the brake pedal at a stoplight behind other cars. My car moved forward. It didn't initially respond to my pressing harder and I thought I'd crash. Brakes hissed, then dropped lower to the floor. I pushed harder. The van stopped & I put on the parking brake. I had one episode a few days prior where I felt brake was slow to respond and heard hissing noise. I had the car towed to the dealer as I was afraid if the brakes failed again I would cause an accident or roll into oncoming traffic at a stoplight.
Slowing for a red light travelling approximately 35 miles an hour. Brake pedal was depressed and suddenly lost pressure/pedal went to the floor with a hissing sound as if there was a compressed air line. Car rolled through intersection with myself and two children on board. Luckily we were not hit by oncoming cross lane traffic. Afterwards there was overtly strong brake pedal force with more air hissing, pushing foot and pedal towards driver. Release pedal and pumping the brake resumed normal pressure. In discussing with Chrysler tech this appears to be a brake booster failure due to contamination from vacuum line. Car has no cel's or related warning indicators for brake system.
There is a hissing sound and it feels as if air pressure is building up in the brake line which is pushing against my foot is on the brake pedal, allowing the vehicle to accelerate slowly when it should be stopped.
The contact owns a 2019 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while his wife was driving 35 mph, the brake pedal failed to operate as needed without warning. The contact was able to swerve past the vehicle in front of her and stop on the side of the road. The contact's wife parked the vehicle in a parking lot and the contact picked up the vehicle and drove it home. The contact had taken the vehicle to several independent mechanics for estimates on a repair. One mechanic informed him that the vehicle was still under warranty and had to be repaired by a dealer. The contact then had the vehicle towed to a dealer where he was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a brake booster contamination that needed replacement. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000.
The brake booster has failed making it extremely difficult to drive and dangerous according to the local Dodge dealership these parts have been on backorder for 2 months now.
