Electrical System problem #1

I was traveling on the freeway at approximately 65 miles per hour. I slowed to approximately 50 miles per hour to pass a disabled vehicle and began accelerating again when the dash displayed a message that said "stop safely- vehicle will shut off soon" the check engine light, a red turtle light also lit up. I had to make a quick maneuver to the far right lane putting myself and other vehicles at risk to avoid the car shutting down in the middle of the freeway. I wanted to get closer to an exit so I continued driving slowly on the shoulder. The wouldn’t accelerate, so whatever speed I let it get down to was the fastest it would go. At the exit I was concerned I wouldn’t have enough power to make it up the hill so I shut off the car. I let it sit for a couple of minutes and then turned it back on. It turned on with the check engine light still on . I then drove it straight to the dealership using surface streets and keeping my speed around 40-45 miles per hour. This was the second time this vehicle has experience this kind of loss of power. The first time happened in July 2024 and resulted in a full transmission replacement. This incident constitutes a dangerous loss of motive power at highway speeds. The failure mode appears identical to the issues described in NHTSA safety recall 23v-010 (Chrysler recall 03a), yet this vehicle has already had a full transmission replacement for this exact issue in the past.

Electrical System problem #2

While driving on the highway, the vehicle unexpectedly entered “limp mode”. Approximately 10 seconds before the vehicle reduced power, a warning message appeared indicating the vehicle was about to shut down. This created a dangerous situation because we were traveling in the middle lane of a highway with vehicles moving at significantly higher speeds on both sides. We were able to carefully move to the side of the road and eventually exit the highway; however, the vehicle was limited to approximately 15–20 mph and could not safely travel at normal speeds due to limp mode. There is an existing recall related to this issue. The vehicle had already received the software update that provides advance warning before shutdown. While the warning is helpful, it does not address the underlying safety issue, which appears to be related to a hardware problem involving faulty transmission wiring rather than software alone.

Electrical System problem #3

The car randomly gives a warning on the dashboard in red, with red turtle symbol, to pull over and stop safely. A lot of the time we will be on the highway and can't pull over safely. It happens at any speed. 25, 80, 65, etc. It's been happening since we got the vehicle in 2023 and no dealership understands what the issue is even though there are clearly recall repairs for other same make and model of other years surrounding this 2022 model. They keep saying its keysense but its not locked for speed and that doesnt make sense because it doesnt happen at a high speed only, it happens randomly even in town going slow. They've done the "software update" a fee times, but it's clearly the same problem as the others with the wiring harness. That part needs to be replaced because the patch software fix isn't a solution and its definitely not a safe solution at that.

Electrical System problem #4

The vehicle experienced a failure of the hybrid battery thermal management system. A diagnostic trouble code (p0e15 – hybrid/ev battery pack coolant heater “a” control performance) was set and the check engine light illuminated. This component is responsible for regulating high-voltage battery temperature and is part of the hybrid cooling/heating system required for safe operation and emissions readiness. The failure occurred at approximately 100,700 miles on a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid. The battery coolant heater is a sealed, high-voltage electronic component with no maintenance or wear interval and is not a consumable part. Loss of proper battery temperature control can affect hybrid system operation, charging, regenerative braking, and power availability, and can potentially result in reduced power or limp-mode operation as the vehicle attempts to protect the high-voltage battery and inverter. The problem was confirmed by a Chrysler dealership and an area service manager using factory diagnostic equipment. The fault code is stored and permanent. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer, and the component was diagnosed as failed and requiring replacement. No accident, misuse, or maintenance neglect was involved. The manufacturer declined warranty or goodwill coverage based on internal policy, despite the failure occurring immediately beyond the hybrid warranty mileage threshold and involving a non-wear, safety-critical hybrid thermal management component. The repair estimate is approximately $1,900 out of pocket. The warning indicator (check engine light) first appeared at the time of failure. The component remains available for inspection and replacement by the dealer. Also the dealership did not provide is with a written justification for the denial and corporate (stellantis) stated that they were not able to provide justification either other than what the automated prompt was giving them (that the part was not covered under goodwill).

Electrical System problem #5

The vehicle completely stopped and shut off while driving on the roadway. Luckily no one was behind me. The check engine light did come on right before but it wasn’t on long enough for me to get somewhere to stop and check it out. There had not been any issues prior to this. The vehicle is still being serviced but they said it was the 12v battery and electric coolant heater that needs replacing so far.

Electrical System problem #6

While driving 75mph, the vehicle shut down with a message to pull over. All acceleration was lost. We had to navigate, without warning, across 3 lanes of traffic to pull over on the right side of the highway. This was extremely unsafe as we were slowing down and essentially cutting off other vehicles who were honking at us as this was a traffic hazard. All 6 members of my family were in the vehicle. We had this happen another 3 times before arriving home. I took it to my local dealer, who could not replicate it. They performed a software update, which I have since learned would never fix this problem. We had it happen to us 5 more times, so I took it to another dealership, who initially could not replicate it. In all cases, we had the following check engine light codes be triggered. I have screen shots of them from my personal obdii reader: p0a43 "drive motor 'a' position sensor circuit intermittent", c2225 "status: mil - pcm disabled edu: no sub type information". After doing my own reading, it seemed many others have experienced the exact same symptoms and it has required a transmission repair/replace. I also learned most people had a battery charge on the high voltage battery (as this is a plug-in hybrid) when the vehicle shuts down. I charged my van, took it for a ride at 75mph and it occurred within the first mile. I took it back to the dealership, and at this point, I refuse to drive it until the hardware fix happens. It seems like this should be a recall for all vehicles that can have this problem. It is extremely unsafe as it occurs at 70mph+ speeds.

Electrical System problem #7

The auto start/stop activate at lights when lift off the brake van cuts off and quickly restarts and turn off the lane departure light and sometimes doesn't restart and is hard to restart. Van sometimes cuts off on the middle of intersection and hard to restart.

Electrical System problem #8

The vehicle’s electrical or engine system appears to have failed, causing a sudden loss of power while driving. The exact component has not been identified by the dealership or Chrysler, but it may be related to the recall affecting the vehicle’s powertrain control or electrical system. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request. The issue has created a serious safety risk. The vehicle has repeatedly lost power and shut off while driving on the highway, including one incident where I was unable to fully pull off the road before it stalled in active traffic. My children were in the vehicle at the time, placing us in immediate danger of being struck by oncoming vehicles. Because the vehicle can stop without warning, it is unsafe to drive and puts both my family and others on the road at risk. The dealership has confirmed the issue and advised that parts are on backorder for at least 10 weeks. They also stated that even once the parts arrive, they are uncertain how to complete the repair, indicating that Chrysler has not yet provided an effective fix. The vehicle has been inspected by the authorized Chrysler dealership multiple times, and the issue has been reported to Chrysler. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. A warning message reading “pull over as the vehicle will stop” appears on the dashboard prior to each failure event. The first occurrence was on June 10, 2025, while driving on the highway to my daughter’s graduation. Since then, the same warning has appeared multiple times before the vehicle shuts off completely. It has been 6 weeks at this point and I have no vehicle. Chrysler has offered rental reimbursement of $60 a day but there is no vehicle that is a 7 passenger like my van that is of this cost. At this time they do not have a timeframe of when the vehicle will be fixed and denied a buyback or replacement.

Electrical System problem #9

My 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid periodically has a sudden shutdown warning identical to vehicles in recall 23v-010 (157), where the engine simply shuts down and a message shows to park safely (it happened to me a bunch of times on a highway and I was lucky enough to have room on the road shoulder. My VIN isn’t listed in the recall 157 that seems to take care of this issue, but the symptoms match exactly. I need this investigated for safety and repaired under warranty or recall.

Electrical System problem #10

My wife was driving our 2022 chrylser Pacifica when it died in the middle of an intersection in downtown austin. She was in the turning lane waiting for the light to change when the auto stop/start feature activated. As the light turned green and she went to proceed, the car started up and then cut back off while simultaneously placing itself in park and all of the lights on the dash began blinking and messages stating "service shifter", "service parking brake", "service brakes" etc started popping up on the dash. She tried to restart the car and nothing happened and the emergency flashers would only work intermittently before shutting off and randomly coming back on for a few seconds minutes later. Eventually a police officer pulled up behind her to block traffic while she and they tried to get the car started. When I arrived, I was able to jump the car and get it out of the road and to a nearby parts store to check the batteries. Oreillys and advanced auto confirmed that the alternator, batteries and starter were good based on their diagnostic scanners. She was able to drive it to san antonio and back the next day with no issues, but that night, when we went to dinner and stopped for gas, it did it again while in the fuel line although I was able to restart the car this time but now displays "stop/start unavailable, service stop/start". After the second event, went back to oreillys and had it scanned, there were no primary diagnostic trouble codes, but 8 stored additional abs trouble codes relating to low voltage, and electronic failures across multiple systems. This all came after having the oil changed and a safety inspection performed on 23 July in which everything passed, but they recommended a coolant and brake fluid flush. Concerned about this happening in congestion on a highway or somewhere with limited options for recovery.

Electrical System problem #11

Unexpected engine shut down electrical system, short circuit and the internal transmission failure loss of motor power while driving, losing control of all drive power breaking on its own increasing the risk of crash. Electrical system went haywire.

Electrical System problem #12

6/21/25 , a Saturday, I stopped at a traffic light when gas saver function kicked in and shut car off. The car went into park mode by itself and parking brake engaged. The car would not start and had to be towed. It sat until Monday when I was able to start it and drive it to my mechanic's business a mile from my location and shut it off. Immediately after shutting it off it would not start again. My mechanic was able to start it a few days later and when he drove it about 5 miles it just shut off and wouldn't start again. Today he is replacing the starter and believes the gas saver function may have contributed to the increased wear on the starter leading to failure, as well as the heat from the catalytic converter located near the starter. I am very nervous about driving this car again and worry it may happen again when I am in traffic. This is a major safety problem if not resolved.

Electrical System problem #13

The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by depressing the brake pedal; however, when the brake pedal was released, the vehicle independently accelerated without the accelerator pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal failed to respond while being depressed. The contact stated that the failure had occurred three times and occurred while driving at various speeds. The contact stated the failure also occurred while driving at 70 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to retrieve any fault codes but informed the contact that the 12-volt battery was not at full charge. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the accelerator pedal assembly and the main computer had produced fault codes, but the dealer later stated that there were no codes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and a case was opened but was later closed. The failure mileage was 41,607.

Electrical System problem #14

I bought a 2022 Pacifica hybrid in October 2022. About 2 months ago(Feb 2025), while I was driving on the 360 highways, my car suddenly showed "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and a turtle symbol. At this time, I was driving 70 mph and the car started to slowly stop. Then, I tried to drive into a nearby starbucks to check it out. I turned off the car. Everything was ok such as oil, coolant, a/c, windshield. Then I restarted the car and the "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol were gone. I thought it was okay, so I continued driving. 5 days ago (April 11-13, 2025), I had a trip to san antonio. When I was driving close to austin. My car showed "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol again. At this time, I stopped on I-35. I feel very dangerous for me, my wife and my 2 children. I feel very scared and confused when I am driving on I-35 and the car stops like that. I feel like our lives are in danger while driving. Then "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol appear more frequently. My car has appeared "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol 6 times in 3 days. Yesterday was April 14, 2025. When I parked in my driveway, "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol also appeared. Every day, I must take my 2 children to school in my 2022 Pacifica hybrid. Now, I feel very scared when driving. I do not know when "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" and the turtle symbol will appear again and will cause an accident for my family. We sincerely hope that you will consider and request Chrysler to help us check and fix this as soon as possible. Thank you very much.

Electrical System problem #15

See attached document for complaint.

Electrical System problem #16

When driving on hybrid mode with battery charged up suddenly warning message showing “transmission failure” and message saying “stop safely vehicle is going to shut off soon”. Breaks don’t work as normal when this happens and vehicle wouldn’t stop immediately. Feels unsafe to drive. Engine warning lights turn on and stay for a day after this happens. Checked with dealership and they mentioned recall is still being worked upon and not yet available. Tried reaching mopar directly but no response yet.

Electrical System problem #17

Traveling at 70mph, the car displayed a message to "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon". Code p0a43 drive motor a position sensor circuit intermittent" was pulled. The van can not be driven safely on the road without the car alerting the driver that it will shut off soon.

Electrical System problem #18

Both of my sliding doors suddenly stop working. Electrical malfunction, locking mechanism not working, door not locking in place.

Electrical System problem #19

Both middle bench seat head rests will not stay upright, making it unsafe for any passenger to ride in thise seats. Happened after folding the seat forward for passengers to get into the back seat. Infotainment system does not work and touch screen will not work. Unable to connect amazon fire and unable to even play dvds on the screens.

Electrical System problem #20

I was driving down the highway. The check engine light comes on. Then a warning comes on that say prepare to stop the car will shut down. This is a hybrid. The electricity is depleted but the gas tank is half full. After turning the car off I can run it for a little while and then the same warning comes back.

Electrical System problem #21

During 3 separate drives (october11, 2024; December 30, 2024, and January 2, 2025) the vehicle shut off while going uphill on an interstate while the engine was at 3,000 rpm. When I pulled over to the side of the highway and stopped the car, the emergency parking break automatically came on. I had to restart the vehicle 2 or more times in each instance. On January second, the vehicle shut down 5 separate times, some on interstate 70 and some on us route 40, all while going uphill between 2000 and 3000rpm. I took it to a local Chrysler dealer January 8th, but they could not recreate the problem or explain why the vehicle was shutting off with no warning.

Electrical System problem #22

As I was driving on the highway, the warning "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" with a red turtle icon appeared. The warning indicator light also appeared. The car began to decelerate on its own as I tried to merge across several lanes of highway traffic to get to the shoulder and stop. This first happened on Thursday December 12 (also in a highway scenario). The vehicle was inspected by my dealer from December 16-18. During that time the dealer updated software and replaced drivers side phev engine mount. The dealer cites "bulletin 21-042-24" as guidance for their troubleshooting. The dealer says if the problem returns, the vehicle will "need transmission according to bulletin 21-042-24. " I drove the vehicle fine on December 19-20 but the problem returned on Saturday, December 21. So the problem has occurred twice in 9 days.

Electrical System problem #23

While driving on a busy freeway, a warning light appeared: "stop safely vehicle will soon shut down" loss of power in such a situation is dangerous. This happened on three separate occasions during the same trip yesterday. It happened once about a month ago and when we brought it to the dealer, they said it was some sort of computer glitch. On each occasion, after pulling off the road and shutting the car off, we were able to restart and drive normally -- until it happened again. We are taking it to the dealer today. Needless to say, we will not drive the vehicle until this is fixed, because we could be placed in an even more dangerous situation.

Electrical System problem #24

This vehicle is 2 years old. It died while I was away from home. It was diagnosed as needing two new batteries. This is the 3rd Chrysler vehicle that I have had to replace batteries in. One vehicle required two battery replacements. This is an ongoing issue, it has to be a known issue. There needs to be some accountability with Chrysler.

Electrical System problem #25

Vehicle check engine light came on preventing state inspection, at same time message on dash states "service charging system" . Using the oem charger 120v. Many complaints online say clear the code and power cycle the circuit and charger. Did both and code persists. Battery not charging affecting fuel economy and raising emissions above the stated usage average due to no battery assist. Try clearing codes no luck. Obd code p0d27 is permanent. Try using oem level opus access, factory tech says its a known issue, tried clearing code no luck. This defect could cause vehicle to have no electric propulsion causing stall if gas engine died and lead to a collision. This defect should be recalled and corrected with a module or software update so generic scan tool or automatic monitor resets upon removal and replug of charging cable. Dealer tech says the idcm is the cause. 30625 miles. This is causing higher than expected emissions, gas costs, and possible accident risk.

Electrical System problem #26

I have encountered at least 5 separate incidents where I will receive an error message on my car dash saying 'stop safely. Vehicle will shut off soon' over the past several months. I have noticed this occurs when the car has been exposed to high heat (80+ degrees) and driving 60+ mph.

Electrical System problem #27

I was driving the vehicle in the middle lane of a 3-lane (one direction) interstate highway when a message appeared on the dashboard "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon," the check engine light turned on and the vehicle lost all ability to accelerate so it was extremely challenging to navigate to the side of the road safely through busy rush hour traffic. As the driver I had zero ability to accelerate the vehicle whatsoever, the gas pedal did absolutely nothing, which can lead to an accident on the highway due to other vehicles moving very quickly and not expecting a vehicle that is not at the right of the road to come to a stop. I brought the vehicle to the Chrysler dealership where they initially stated this is a known issue and they would be replacing the transmission and that the transmission is under 10-year/unliminted miles warranty for this specific error (poa43 driver motor), however once the dealership spoke with Chrysler corporate, they indicated that they would simply be clearing the code and they returned the car to us. We were advised to bring the vehicle back when the error recurs. We opted to sell the vehicle immediately instead, because it it not safe to drive now, but unfortunately this means we are passing the problem on to another consumer as Chrysler refuses to fix the problem. The case number they assigned is case #[xxx]. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Electrical System problem #28

The vehicles transmission malfunctions causing the vehicle to lose complete power, now without warning. We are unable to accelerate and the vehicle comes to a sudden stop. This vehicle shuts down in the middle of the highway causing us to come to a complete stop while driving on the highway, also on back roads one lane roads, the vehicle completely shuts down causing us to block the road and becomes a hazard. This has been a continuous problem. This will now be the fifth time it has been to the repair shop for the same exact problem. It is covered under the warranty, however, when they fix it, it happens right away within two business days, again without warning causing us to be in danger and becomes a hazard anytime we drive the vehicle. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealership service center many times. They also sent out an engineer from their company to inspect it. We now have no warning like before the problem occurs only after the vehicle loses power. This will be the third complaint I've filed for this same issue. After it's been "fixed and inspected" this last time.

Electrical System problem #29

While driving, vehicle chimes and displays "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. " while brakes and steering remain available, throttle control is instantly gone and vehicle needs to be coasted to a safe stop. Upon powering off and waiting ~10 minutes, the vehicle will restart (with check engine light and "service charing system" displayed) and drive normally. This situation happened four times while attempting to make it back home safely (once on an interstate traveling ~70 mph, twice on a highway traveling ~55 mph, and once in town at ~30 mph). Thankfully all situations had adequate shoulder and understanding traffic, but with instant loss of power, the vehicle is incredibly dangerous.

Electrical System problem #30

The vehicle is equipped with multizone ac, and one day the rear passenger ac system malfunctioned. This occurred during the heatwave period this summer. The ac would not turn off, after multiple attempts, neither through the infotainment screen nor the manual buttons. We tried all possible ways to turn it off and it would not. Furthermore, it was automatically set to high heat, and the temperature also could not be changed. It is available for inspection if needed. Our [xxx] child was the rear seat occupant at the time, and was on the verge of overheating. We took the vehicle to the dealership, explained the issue in detail, and also showed them the clear video evidence of the problem. Because the issue was intermittent, they did not inspect it nor repaired it because it was working fine in their possession. Manufacturer was also notified of the issue, and repeated the same dialogue as the dealer, which is, that they can not resolve it if they can not reproduce it. There were no warning codes, lights, or messages for this issue. After receiving the vehicle back from the dealer, unrepaired, the problem happened again the same day. It is now back at another dealer hoping to be repaired and the issue diagnosed/reproduced. This is making us very nervous if it happens again, during a freeway drive or a long road trip, our road safety and children's health is at risk. The dealership and manufacturer have not demonstrated urgency for this matter, and treat it as any other "intermittent" issue. They advised us to bring it back if it occurs again. Should we really be testing these diagnostics on the road with our children's safety or comfort at stake? thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring this matter to your attention. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Electrical System problem #31

Outside temperature was over 80 degrees, we were driving long distance on a highway. First the air conditioning failed. Then the "remaining miles on battery" started to go up ( even though it had been a long time since we charged). When it got to about 12, we got a dashboard message that said "engine shutting down, get to a safe place". We pulled over just in time as the engine did shut off, the shutdown happened in about 15 seconds. The car did not restart for at least 30 minutes. Message said something about "check charging system". This happened repeatedly, leaving us in dangerous conditions on the side of the very busy highway. "check engine" light was on. At least once we had a message that said something about "check powertrain". One dealer checked the code on his computer, but could not help any further as they were too busy. He would not give us the paper with the code. We took the car to a dealer when we got home. The "check engine" light had turned off, but the dealer cannot find any problems with the car. It is a huge safety problem when your car shuts down with very little notice. We are afraid to drive the car now.

Electrical System problem #32

Vehicle shut down. Engine light came on. Confirmed electric inverter was the code. Pim module needs to be replaced.

Electrical System problem #33

While driving all warning lights came on on the dashboard. Said pull over, car will stop. Car would not move . After a while it would start again and warning cleared. Had scan done . Multiple communication failure codes for multiple modules. Had codes cleared. Waiting for next time. Chat forums indicate this is common and usually leads to the can buss star connector defective where the multiple modules plug in.

Electrical System problem #34

It was a rental car, driving on freeway , warning light will come up , saying engine will shut off. The van had no power, and I had to pull over. I turned off the car for 2-5 minutes and restart. Then the car will accelerate again. I had to drive from la to las vegas. It started doing that after loma linda , CA [xxx] , on [xxx]). It took me 7 hours to get to las vegas. Because of the constant shut off warning. I had no choice but to do this because sixt rental car couldn't get another car to me for 5-6 hours wait. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Electrical System problem #35

While driving the vehicle, received a message to stop safely vehicle will shut off soon. The car stops responding to the gas pedal and I had to try to quickly find a safe place to park the vehicle. I am lucky that I was not on a major highway at the time as I had three young children in the vehicle. Once stopped I was unable to turn off the van. The vehicle start/stop button was not responding and it took a long time before I was able to turn off the vehicle to try to restart it. The message remained and the car had to be towed to a dealership. It is now with the dealership while they determine the cause of the shut down. This is a serious issue to occur on a relatively new vehicle.

Electrical System problem #36

Van lost motive power and screen showed the attached warning message. Waiting on dealership to replace the transmission, but it's backordered with no estimated availability.

Electrical System problem #37

While driving on the interstate, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration without warning. With several 18 wheelers having to brake and swerve behind us, we had to navigate onto the shoulder of the interstate. We had to wait on the side of the interstate for an hour for a tow truck to take us to the nearest dealership. We took the car into the dealership and they kept it for several days and then reported that the car just needed a new battery (12v, not hybrid). I expressed concern with the dealership and later after contacting Chrysler that a dead battery shouldn't cause the car to suddenly lose acceleration while driving, because that is an obvious safety risk, but was told again it was just a dead battery. I also received no invoice from the dealership and was told that it would be emailed to me as soon as they could since a cyberattack had made them unable to issue invoices.

Electrical System problem #38

We were on the interstate. Driving the 80 mph speed limit. Got warning that said stop safety vehicle will shut off soon. I had 4 kids in the vehicle with me. I barely got it onto the shoulder before it completely shut off and would not move. Had to get it towed to nearest dealership 60 miles away. No answers left and now we are stranded. We could have been killed. No warning signs.

Electrical System problem #39

We purchased a 2022 Pacifica hybrid in Feb of 2024 that is still under full factory warranty. We had the vehicle serviced once for a/c issues and it's regularly scheduled 30k mile service in April and may. [xxx] our van had a. Catastrophic failure in texas, where it has remained since June 1st. The deep cycle hybrid battery overheated, making it inoperable. They have replaced the deep cycle hybrid battery twice-those batteries run 15-16k$, plus the additional parts and labor. Stellantis customer service promised rental reimbursement for the 2 vehicles we had to rent to continue our trip to arizona. Then they declined to reimburse for both. They also stated they would pay for rentals ongoing while our van was in texas and after we rented a van for two additional weeks, refused to pay for that. We requested a buyback at week 7 and that was denied. Two weeks ago, they stated the van was repaired and it sat in texas while the dealership argued with stellantis customer service about who was responsible for returning our van. Finally Chrysler agreed to ship it to us and while the area manager was driving the van to the loading point for the shipping company, it had the same catastrophic failure. Chrysler had it towed to a different dealership in texas and that dealership says they are going to start over and hopefully they can diagnose the issue fully, but they will have to replace the battery for a. 3rd time, totaling 4 batteries in 3 months or 64k$. . The vehicle purchase price was 42k$. We purchased extensive extended warranties. We put down 24,500$ in cash and trade. We have since found out that a dealer in new jersey put this car back on the market after they knew there was something wrong with it and made it someone else's problem. The selling dealership had no way of knowing the vehicle battery would overheat in the summer, as they purchased it from auction in November and sold it to us in Feb. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Electrical System problem #40

We just purchased the used 2022 Pacifica today. , it was 75 miles back home. I left to get dairy queen; I turned left onto side road into norton commons and an alert came up stop safely your car will slow down soon. Very scary with a family and newb and kids and wife. Especially because cost bought it. Perhaps I should return it!.

Electrical System problem #41

Driving on a city street, shortly after driving out of a parking lot, and suddenly the message 'stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon' showed on the dash, including a check engine light and a red turtle icon. After pulling over on a busy city street and waiting 10 minutes, I was able to start back up and keep driving. The cel light stayed on but not the 'stop safely' message.

Electrical System problem #42

Driving on the highway, suddenly the message 'stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon' showed on the dash, including a check engine light and a red turtle icon. After pulling over on the freeway and waiting 10 minutes, I was able to start back up and keep driving. The cel light stayed on but not the 'stop safely' message.

Electrical System problem #43

We got this message on the dashboard that the vehicle will shut off please pull over safely in the middle of freeway. I couldn't do that and was stuck in highway shoulder with kids and family in the car for couple of hours. This was scary.

Electrical System problem #44

I ran into a very dangerous situation last Monday. I was driving on a freeway and car brokedown, accelarator unresponsive , got "service charging system" car lost power it was very dangerous and someohow I was able to get into shoulder lane and with god's grace we survived. After 3 4 minutes I was able to get my car turn off and on and then it drove with minimal speed 12m/hr. So I decided to take it in nearby open parking area and get it towed. This is serious life threatening especially with family.

Electrical System problem #45

While driving on a highway (never at slower speeds), a message will display on the dash that says "stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon. " the car then begins to decelerate and I have less than a minute to pull off the road. This issue began in December 2023. The car has been with the dealership from Feb 16 to present (April 4). The dealership was able to reproduce the problem. I am told it's related to the transmission, and am still waiting on a status update.

Electrical System problem #46

Driving from louisiana to kansas for the holidays in our 2022 Pacifica hybrid, and received notice popped up that car was about to shut down and pull off road quickly. This appears to be associated with a recall we did take the car in for but apparently the recall only changed software to tell you the car was about to shut down and didn't fix the issue with the car actually shutting down! this happened to us 4 times. 3 times we had time and space to pull over, wait, and restart. 4th time was immediate note and shutdown but fortunately we were at a stop light and cars could go around us until we were able to restart. We could have been seriously injured or killed had this happened on a busy interstate. This was a Saturday so no service open and I couldn't risk putting my family back in that car so Monday when dealership was open I drove to dealership. Renting a car was to be very expensive $3500 or so to drive back up around end of year. No dealers within 60 miles could even look at the car for several days, and repair was going to be 1-3 months from what dealer and on-line info about it looked to be. My best option was to trade it off when I got it to the dealership but a very costly option! this issue needs to be fixed or people are going to be seriously injured or killed. The warning doesn't give but a few seconds to get off the road and that won't work on an interstate going through a major city! I don't know if the car is fixed as the dealer has it now and we have a new pacific at much cost to us.

Electrical System problem #47

The mirror on the passenger side of the vehicle "exploded".

Electrical System problem #48

Service charging system error. Car will not charge with level 1 or level 2 charger.

Electrical System problem #49

There has been several incidents where we experienced sudden engine loss and the vehicle and computer powered off while operating the vehicle. We reported these safety concerns to autonation carlsbad and they were unable to recreate this problem. We have escalated these concerns to the Chrysler’s retention team. Their retention team recommends that we scheduled a follow up service appointment with a second service department.

Electrical System problem #50

After recall, vehicle continues to suffer from engine shutdown due to electrical fault in transmission wiring harness.

Electrical System problem #51

Vehicle lost all motive power. Accessories[wdws, hzrdflashers] still operational. Stopped dead in the middle of the road. Managed to restart vehicle. "limped" along to a safer location, in pkg lot.

Electrical System problem #52

Driving on the highway and the car stalled. Was told to pull over due to loss of power with a red turtle on the screen. This has been happening to allot of people. Barely had time to get over. There was a recall software update to provide warning, but that just gives warning but does not fix the issue as its a transmission problem. Now check engine light is on and has to go to dealer.

Electrical System problem #53

7/19/23 - dash warning to pull over because car was going to turn off (from recall software update). (image attached) unclear how long I had and upcoming road was more dangerous, so I pulled over in an area with highway speed traffic and only half a shoulder. Car did not reset on first attempt to restart and stuck in "turtle mode" (<10 mph). When I called the dealership, they originally offered me the roadside assistance number, then talked me through reset over phone when I pushed back that I was not in a safe spot with cars flying past me. I was able to drive <10 minutes to dealer after car reset. They were able to get codes and confirm car is undrivable and I need a new transmission. As of 7/28 they still have my car with no update on when part will be shipped. Prior warning: on 7/11, dash showed "put in p to park" alternating with "press brake and push button to start" while driving down the road (note d for drive in lower right on attached images, also photo of car still on/in run). This started at the same time the car bucked and the check engine light came on solid. (another image shows the red battery warning light in upper left that came on when car was put in park as other messages continued to alternate. ) I pulled over and turned off car. While waiting and thinking about what to do next, the car restarted on its own. (it is possible I pressed button 2x to turn off as I recall it didn't react. But restart was a full minute later!) restarted. Dealership seemed unconcerned, despite the known issue with Pacifica hybrids. Same issue occurred 7/12. On 7/13 the radio rebooted while driving down the road with no warning. (radio issues have been ongoing and may be related to overall electrical issues?). On morning of 7/19 when final issue occurred, the radio didn't work at first. On 7/14, I pushed dealership to get software recall update that day as it did not feel safe to drive with the ongoing issues. Recall software update was in place before 7/19 incident.

Electrical System problem #54

The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph the vehicle stalled. The contact steered to the side of the road and received assistance from a police officer who disconnected and reconnected the battery. On another occasion, while driving at 75 mph the contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road where the battery was disconnected and reconnected again. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,602.

Electrical System problem #55

Week of 6/18/23 vehicle began flashing codes- service electronic stability control, lanes sense unavailable service required, awd system unavailable and several warning lights appearing on dash. Took to dealership replaced star connector. Still same issues. Took to another dealership replaced abs module. Still same issues. Chrysler engineers are guiding dealership on how to proceed but neither the dealership or Chrysler engineers know what is wrong with the car or how to fix it. Has been at 2 dealerships since June 23, 2023 and still no fix. The only repair documentation I have is from the first dealership. The dealership it has been at since June 29,23 said they cannot provide me with a document of the work they have done until the service repair order is closed. That won’t be closed until the car is fixed. But they can’t figure out the issue.

Electrical System problem #56

Three (3) incidents between 36 miles and 110 miles on brand new minivan - beginning 6/10, 6/11 and today 6/14. The first time the vehicle was plugged in charging 120v l1 charger, my kids came to me and said the van is making noise all the time. The key was inside the house about 75 feet away. It sounded like the cooling fans were running, varying in speed every minute or so up to high speed, the dash was lit up with battery error, transmission error, and charging error messages, the red wrench with electric bolt was lit, maybe other messages. I unplugged everything, tried to shut off restart car from keyfob, the doors were left open, the start button did nothing, the shift knob was stuck in p and locked. Nothing would unlock the knob. It appeared to be a computer glitch, I removed the neg battery cable and reattached it and the car started and the messages cleared. The second time while driving the car lost power and stopped, same issue, luckily I had a pliers with me and I again rebooted the 12v system and it ran fine again. During both these events the dash always said "regen engine oil and fuel in progress" this time I tried to reset the oil life monitor, it made no diff to the regen message and I noticed the new hybrid car was not using any battery so it seems the engine was running all the time. The regen message remained for days until I decided to get gas, I read adding 4 gal might clear the message. I went to the gas station and again today 6/14 as I parked at the gas pump the car dies before I even got out to pump gas blocking the pumps, I quickly reboot, but the doors would not open, I crawled to the back and rebooted the 12v system and added 4 gals. When I restarted the car it ran normally again, then the regen message cleared and the electric motor began propelling the car as intended.

Electrical System problem #57

Everyday over the last two weeks, the minivan will just completely shut off while driving down the highway. I have to try to pull over and restart the minivan. This is particularly dangerous here in the southern California area.

Electrical System problem #58

While driving on highway on4/22/23 the vehicle displayed a message stating “stop safely, vehicle will shut off soon”. I lost the ability to accelerate and had to coast to the nearest shoulder. This happened during a high traffic period and I had children in the car. At the time there was no shoulder near by so I had to drive on the busy highway at very slow speeds until I could pull over. This was a very dangerous incident and I’m lucky I was not in an accident.

Electrical System problem #59

The contact's mother had rented a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid. The contact stated that upon his mother entering a gas station at a low rate of speed, she hit a divot in the road which triggered the vehicle's phantom braking to engage without warning. As the vehicle came to a sudden halt, the air bags deployed without incident. Due to the failure, his mother was taken to hospital where she was treated for a concussion as well as multiple injuries to her neck, hips, nose, and right thumb; she also sustained severe burns and bruising to both hand and arms. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic; however, the whereabouts of the vehicle are unknown. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Electrical System problem #60

I was driving around 15 mph and the van suddenly lost all electrical and engine power. I could not drive and none of the instruments were working. I could not turn on the emergency blinkers / hazard lights. I could not restart the van. No buttons were working. The van came to a stop with some bad sounds from the engine. I was on a hill and I had to keep my foot on the brake otherwise the van would start rolling backwards. I could not place the vehicle into park and the parking break did not work either. This means I was effectively trapped in the vehicle, in the middle of the road, unable to engage any hazard lights. I called my spouse and he drove to meet me. He opened the hood and after a minute the power returned and the vehicle displayed a "service electrical system" message. I was then able to drive the vehicle home about half a mile. Later that evening the vehicle again "died" and was unresponsive. Hours later it is still not turning on and will have it towed to the dealership. This complete loss of power has happened a few times before, but always when the vehicle was parked overnight and I discovered it was not working in the morning. But it would always turn itself back on after a few minutes.

Electrical System problem #61

While driving on a freeway at about 70mph, the "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" warning message displayed. Additionally on the dashboard, the brake (red warning light), the yellow engine light, the red turtle light displayed. The car quickly lost power and speed was quickly reduced to about 30 mph. The car continued to slow down and I was able to coast to the shoulder. I could have easily been injured or killed trying to get to the shoulder without any power from the engine. The transmission recall had been fixed the day prior. Car was towed to the dealership and needed a new transmission. Have been waiting for a new transmission for over 2 months.

Electrical System problem #62

On 3/6/2023 while driving on a freeway, my vehicle experienced a complete loss of motive power and the accelerator was unresponsive. The dash gave me a warning that the vehicle was off. On 3/7/2023, the same incident occurred twice while on the same freeway. On 3/7/23, I dropped it off at moss bros Chrysler dealer in riverside, CA for the loss of motive power recall I was just notified of. The software update from the recall was performed, and the service adviser informed me that it was successful and the issue had been resolved. On 3/9/2023, I drove it on the freeway, and again, the same loss of motive power occurred. This time, the dash warned me that vehicle shutdown was imminent, and a turtle icon displayed on the dash. However, the moment the dash displayed this information, all motive power was lost and the experience was identical to before the software update. This is a significant safety issue as the freeways in my area usually do not have any shoulders or areas that are safe to pull over on. This is a serious defect that poses a safety risk to anyone in the vehicle. It has not been fixed by the recall.

Electrical System problem #63

While traveling at full highway speed, the Pacifica turned off entirely without warning. We had to navigate in traffic through 4 lanes to pull over with children in the vehicle. The vehicle would not turn back on after pulled over until hours afterwards. However we towed the vehicle to a dealership due to the safety concern.

Electrical System problem #64

The contact owns a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v010000 (electrical system, hybrid propulsion system) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Electrical System problem #65

Second complaint for same issue. Our vehicle stalled 6 times over the course of 17 miles driving around town, maximum of 50 mph at times. We have multiple videos of this. Have contacted Chrysler and was told they do not have a fix for this issue even though they are aware it is a safety issue. Awaiting call back on how they will help resolve this issue ASAP as the car is basically undrivable with stalling that many times in such a short trip!.

Electrical System problem #66

I was driving our Chrysler Pacifica (under 35 mph, thankfully not on highway) when it shut off and restarted very quickly. Happened in a second.

Electrical System problem #67

While driving on the highway, the vehicle coaster to a stop. It gave a warning to plug in the battery for conditioning and the d was blinking. It said to put to p to stop. Was able to coast to the side of the highway safely and vehicle had to be stopped and turned off to be able to run. This happened 4 times in under 30 miles on the highway.

Electrical System problem #68

The vehicle will randomly stall out. We took it to the dealer to get it fixed, they kept it for a month and did a software update. It's been 2 weeks and it stalls out about 6 times a week still. It's very dangerous and we can't even use it on the highway. Only backroads. Chrysler and the dealership have said it can't be fixed and they are not taking responsibility.

Electrical System problem #69

Van shutoff on the highway going 60- 65 mph with my wife and two kids under six. Winter time snow plowed road so no available shoulder due to snow mounds. Van quit running during rush hour. Car coasted to a stop and would not restart. Had to be towed. Dealer said it was a known issue. Googled it and there were news articles about the issue. Van gave no warning it was shutting down. Dealer has had the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica plug in hybrid for 30 days in the service shop and still don’t have a fix for it. Opened a case with Chrysler, case number 85533496.

Electrical System problem #70

Unknown, recall to be issued but nothing yet and we are driving in potentially unsafe cars with our family!!!.

Electrical System problem #71

Car losing its motive power @ highway speed. Have multiple videos. It start happening on Saturday 1/21/23. On Monday drove car to local dealership they told did software update. That did not fixed. New recall they don't have any parts or information on it. Bringing car back to local dealership on 1/25/2023. Car is unsafe to drive on highway speed. Dealership service department told me they don't really know what todo. Chrysler custumer service advice if the not able to fix the car bring it to independent repair shop for brand new car less then a year old.

Electrical System problem #73

Vehicle lost ability to accelerate on highway engine shit off, lost power steering, dashboard read “press break and push button to start” as though vehicle were turned off. Dashboard displayed default message “service hybrid electric vehicle system”. Happened 3 times in span of 3 days. 2 of which were on the highway, the 3rd was on exit ramp of highway. The inability to accelerate/loss of power steering while driving is a huge safety concern. We called dealership, service manager immediately acknowledged safety concern and picked up vehicle at our home. Vehicle is currently being evaluated at dealership.

Electrical System problem #74

When it is unusually cold, the heater fails to heat the hybrid battery sufficiently to register the correct voltage. This causes the car to enter “turtle” mode- a special mode that limits the car to 30 mph. It’s designed to allow the driver to get to a dealership. When we were driving at highway speeds about 70mph, during a particularly cold day, the turtle mode dropped us suddenly to 30 mph. This nearly caused an accident as we almost lost control of the vehicle on ice and snow. It was so sudden we had to swerve into the side of shoulder.

Electrical System problem #75

We were driving our Chrysler Pacifica hybrid on the highway and it stalled and said put into park and completely turned off. When we pulled over to the side of the road, the car would not start and had to be towed to the dealership. It was very unsafe and not the first time that our car has turned off.

Electrical System problem #76

On 11/19/22, while driving to a family member's for thanksgiving week, we stopped to get gas and turned the vehicle off. When attempting to start, we received a "service charging system" error on the dash and the vehicle would not start. Fortunately after waiting several minutes we were able to get it started and made it to our destination. The next morning it did not start and we had it towed to the nearest dealer. The issue was reproduced at the dealer and they did some things to clear error codes, recalls, etc. And the vehicle started one day but then the issue reoccurred the next day. After three weeks they were able to upgrade the hybrid system software which seemed to do the trick. We picked up the vehicle and drove it home. Two weeks later on christmas day when we were leaving a family party the issue came back and we were not able to get it started. The next day 12/26/22, we had it towed to the nearest dealer where it is currently at as of this writing. When it was delivered to the dealer the issue was still present however they did not bring it in to service for a week and when they did the issue was not there. They are working to recreate the issue to try and diagnose. There were no warnings or error messages in advance of this issue occurring. Luckily this issue did not happen while driving as that would have put myself and family in a dangerous system. The fact that this issue has not been resolved and seems to occur randomly is a major concern. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle knowing that this can happen and leave us stranded or in an unsafe situation. We are currently working with the dealer with hopes of a solution but this is a serious issue.

Electrical System problem #77

Have a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica pinnacle which we picked up 10/8. This incident occured 11/3, issue occurred with car under 1000 miles driven. So less than 1 month of ownership. Driving on 4 lane highway during stop and go traffic. Driving approximately 15-20 mph. Car suddenly loses all forward motive power with engine light and battery light flashing on dashboard. In center dash it was saying "service charging system". Luckily, was able to coast to shoulder of highway. Was unable to restart car for 15 minutes, car kept saying to put into p and until after completely turning the car off by opening the driver side door to simulate leaving the vehicle, and then closing the door. Drove to dealer and car stored dtc p0a45 error code, which they cleared and test drove for 50 miles. They could not reproduce the issue. Losing driving power is very dangerous while driving at any speed! this is a huge safety concern for my family with two small children. This needs to be investigated and a cause determined! this is a major accident or even death waiting to happen!.

Electrical System problem #78

Twice while driving on the highway the accelerator stopped working and the dash acted as if the car was off - it instructed to hold the brake and press the start button to turn it on. After coasting over to the side of the road I was able to put it in park, but pressing the power button did not turn it off. The check engine light and battery light were both on (they turned on as soon as the car "shut off") we had to disconnect the 12v battery and reconnect it to reset the system and then it started normally - we googled the problem to find this fix so apparently it is not uncommon. Both times it happened on the highway with a 75mph speed limit, where it is incredibly dangerous for you car to just stop working!.

Electrical System problem #79

Twice now driving on the freeway in my brand new 2022 plug-in Pacifica with 10k miles— all of a sudden there is a rumble (feels like a down shift) and the vehicle won’t accelerate. The dash message started flashing “put in p to start. ” however, the car is still on and in “run. ” I pulled over, put the vehicle in park, and turned it off. Then I had to push start button several times to unlock the shifter to go to drive again. A check engine light came on. The first time it happened, I finished my trip. Later that day when I had parked the car for a few hours the check engine light went off. The second incident happened a week later. The engine light came on. So I dove to the closest auto zone for a code reading. It came back p0a43.

Electrical System problem #80

While driving on the freeway, check engine light came on, all acceleration power was lost, car directed me to “put car in park, press brake, and push start button. ” this led to extremely dangerous situation of having to navigate traffic and reach the shoulder with no ability to accelerate. Vehicle was powered down and restarted and was able to return to the road. This has happened 10 times total. This is the first reoccurrence since getting the power inverter module replaced at the dealership four days ago.

Electrical System problem #81

I brought my hybrid Pacifica in fed,2022. Last month it just lost power while I was driving and after that engine light up. Need to wait couple minutes to restart the engine and this issue has been reproduced every day. I brought the car to the dealership and they confirm the issue, they did update the software(recalls) but did work. So far they hold the car for a month waiting for parts to replace.

Electrical System problem #82

Was driving home and accelerating when there was a mechanical "thump" noise and the vehicle mil indicator came on with a "red turtle" indicator on. Vehicle speed/performance was immediately reduced and I was not able to maintain a safe speed or have enough power to travel at appropriate speeds when hills were involved. This is the second time this has happened in this vehicle. The dealer has already looked at the vehicle prior and claimed they found the issue and resolved it. Since it occurred again the issue has clearly not been resolved or properly identified.

Electrical System problem #83

On 2/24/2022, we were merging onto the highway when the van powered itself off. The engine light came on. We pulled over, got the van back on, and pulled back onto highway. Almost immediately, the van shut itself off again. On 2/25/2022, on the way to the dealership, the van once again powered itself off on the highway. After arrival to the dealership, the technician said he found a loose cable connecting to the transmission and apparently fixed it. On 3/2/2022, the van shut itself off yet again in the middle of an intersection. In each of these cases, we have been risking get hit by other vehicles. Had we not been able ?to pull off the highway in time, we could have been hit full speed while our van was completely shut off in the middle of the highway. When the van shuts itself off, it takes a while to be able to power it back on. There is no warning to when it will shut off.
