Other Fuel System problem #1

I was traveling on the freeway at approximately 65 miles per hour. I slowed to approximately 50 miles per hour to pass a disabled vehicle and began accelerating again when the dash displayed a message that said "stop safely- vehicle will shut off soon" the check engine light, a red turtle light also lit up. I had to make a quick maneuver to the far right lane putting myself and other vehicles at risk to avoid the car shutting down in the middle of the freeway. I wanted to get closer to an exit so I continued driving slowly on the shoulder. The wouldn’t accelerate, so whatever speed I let it get down to was the fastest it would go. At the exit I was concerned I wouldn’t have enough power to make it up the hill so I shut off the car. I let it sit for a couple of minutes and then turned it back on. It turned on with the check engine light still on . I then drove it straight to the dealership using surface streets and keeping my speed around 40-45 miles per hour. This was the second time this vehicle has experience this kind of loss of power. The first time happened in July 2024 and resulted in a full transmission replacement. This incident constitutes a dangerous loss of motive power at highway speeds. The failure mode appears identical to the issues described in NHTSA safety recall 23v-010 (Chrysler recall 03a), yet this vehicle has already had a full transmission replacement for this exact issue in the past.

Other Fuel System problem #2

While driving 75mph, the vehicle shut down with a message to pull over. All acceleration was lost. We had to navigate, without warning, across 3 lanes of traffic to pull over on the right side of the highway. This was extremely unsafe as we were slowing down and essentially cutting off other vehicles who were honking at us as this was a traffic hazard. All 6 members of my family were in the vehicle. We had this happen another 3 times before arriving home. I took it to my local dealer, who could not replicate it. They performed a software update, which I have since learned would never fix this problem. We had it happen to us 5 more times, so I took it to another dealership, who initially could not replicate it. In all cases, we had the following check engine light codes be triggered. I have screen shots of them from my personal obdii reader: p0a43 "drive motor 'a' position sensor circuit intermittent", c2225 "status: mil - pcm disabled edu: no sub type information". After doing my own reading, it seemed many others have experienced the exact same symptoms and it has required a transmission repair/replace. I also learned most people had a battery charge on the high voltage battery (as this is a plug-in hybrid) when the vehicle shuts down. I charged my van, took it for a ride at 75mph and it occurred within the first mile. I took it back to the dealership, and at this point, I refuse to drive it until the hardware fix happens. It seems like this should be a recall for all vehicles that can have this problem. It is extremely unsafe as it occurs at 70mph+ speeds.

Other Fuel System problem #3

Fuel line leak near engine. It sounds very similiar to the 2023 Chrysler Pacifica recall. The vehicle reaked of gasoline fumes coming in through the vents. Our mechanic replaced the fuel line, said it had a hole. We felt very unsafe even starting the car when it reaked of gas due to risk of fire. No warnings lights or anything, just the smell to tip us off. No one else has inspected the car since we didn't have anything catastrophic happen.

Other Fuel System problem #4

6/21/25 , a Saturday, I stopped at a traffic light when gas saver function kicked in and shut car off. The car went into park mode by itself and parking brake engaged. The car would not start and had to be towed. It sat until Monday when I was able to start it and drive it to my mechanic's business a mile from my location and shut it off. Immediately after shutting it off it would not start again. My mechanic was able to start it a few days later and when he drove it about 5 miles it just shut off and wouldn't start again. Today he is replacing the starter and believes the gas saver function may have contributed to the increased wear on the starter leading to failure, as well as the heat from the catalytic converter located near the starter. I am very nervous about driving this car again and worry it may happen again when I am in traffic. This is a major safety problem if not resolved.

Other Fuel System problem #5

While at freeway speed (~75mph) "vehicle will shut off shortly" warning appeared and lost propulsion. I pulled over and was able to get to a rest stop at reduced speed (~35mph) with the remaining battery power but it was not ideal as shoulder was limited due to road construction and could not leave vehicle on side of the road. Prior software update 03a / 23v-010 was performed as it looks to be a known condition. The software update does not repair the root cause of the failure.

Other Fuel System problem #6

When driving on hybrid mode with battery charged up suddenly warning message showing “transmission failure” and message saying “stop safely vehicle is going to shut off soon”. Breaks don’t work as normal when this happens and vehicle wouldn’t stop immediately. Feels unsafe to drive. Engine warning lights turn on and stay for a day after this happens. Checked with dealership and they mentioned recall is still being worked upon and not yet available. Tried reaching mopar directly but no response yet.

Other Fuel System problem #7

I was driving down the highway. The check engine light comes on. Then a warning comes on that say prepare to stop the car will shut down. This is a hybrid. The electricity is depleted but the gas tank is half full. After turning the car off I can run it for a little while and then the same warning comes back.

Other Fuel System problem #8

As I was driving on the highway, the warning "stop safely vehicle will shut off soon" with a red turtle icon appeared. The warning indicator light also appeared. The car began to decelerate on its own as I tried to merge across several lanes of highway traffic to get to the shoulder and stop. This first happened on Thursday December 12 (also in a highway scenario). The vehicle was inspected by my dealer from December 16-18. During that time the dealer updated software and replaced drivers side phev engine mount. The dealer cites "bulletin 21-042-24" as guidance for their troubleshooting. The dealer says if the problem returns, the vehicle will "need transmission according to bulletin 21-042-24. " I drove the vehicle fine on December 19-20 but the problem returned on Saturday, December 21. So the problem has occurred twice in 9 days.

Other Fuel System problem #9

While driving on the interstate in heavy traffic car displayed "stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon" power was reduced and van started slowing down. Turning the vehicle off and on again cleared the problem. Dealer installed a software update and informed us the issue was corrected. Problem persists, happened again at interstate speeds in traffic. Vehicle is now again in the shop for diagnosis.

Other Fuel System problem #10

When driving on the interstate highway with about 70 mph a warning message “service hybrid electric vehicle system” appeared. The high voltage battery charging level was less than 1%. About 30 minutes later, after exiting the highway, another warning message was displayed: “stop safely vehicle will shut off soon”. After about 30s later the motive power was stopped and the car continued rolling. There was no propulsion power anymore, and I was only able to roll into the entrance of a parking lot. Luckily it was a relatively safe location where the vehicle came to a stop. I was alone in the car and was not in direct danger. The vehicle could not be restarted. I called a towing service, and the car was transported to a Chrysler dealership. The fault codes were read out. Chrysler star recommended to replace a 350 a fuse. The dealership service team drove the car for more than 70 miles without being able to reproduce the fault after this repair. One day after collecting the car from the dealership I drove about 300 miles on the highway. After about 250 miles the warning message “service hybrid electric vehicle system“ appeared. The high voltage battery charging level was less than 1%. When driving on the highway with about 55 mph, about 150 miles after the warning message appeared, the motive power stopped inadvertently without any warning. I felt a short impulse on the gas pedal, then while rolling at below 50 mph the message “switch p to start engine“ was displayed. I managed to roll out from the 3rd lane from the right to the emergency stopping lane. It was a dangerous maneuver and I feared for the safety of my five family members traveling with me in the car as the oncoming traffic behind my car didn’t slow down even after switching on the hazard lights. The vehicle could not be restarted and I had to call a towing service to transport the vehicle to the nearest Chrysler dealership. Now I am waiting for the service team to start reading out the failure codes.

Other Fuel System problem #11

Vehicle shut down. Engine light came on. Confirmed electric inverter was the code. Pim module needs to be replaced.

Other Fuel System problem #12

While driving all warning lights came on on the dashboard. Said pull over, car will stop. Car would not move . After a while it would start again and warning cleared. Had scan done . Multiple communication failure codes for multiple modules. Had codes cleared. Waiting for next time. Chat forums indicate this is common and usually leads to the can buss star connector defective where the multiple modules plug in.

Other Fuel System problem #13

Van lost motive power and screen showed the attached warning message. Waiting on dealership to replace the transmission, but it's backordered with no estimated availability.

Other Fuel System problem #14

Driving at interstate speed, dash message stated to pull over, engine shutting down. Coasted to stop on shoulder. Waited 5 minutes, turned on ignition, check engine light was on. Restarted vehicle, drove ~20 miles and same occurrence. Was able to return home to dealership. The obd reader said the pcm (powertrain control module) had failed. Service dept. Sent info to Chrysler corp. Service, which stated the transmission was at fault. Car mileage was ~16,500 miles. Under warranty, the transmission is being replaced.

Other Fuel System problem #15

Shortly into my trip home from work, I entered onto the interstate and accelerated up to speed. Within a minute the vehicle seemed to slow down and I had no power using the accelerator pedal. The vehicle continued to slow and the gas engine failed to turn on. (this is a phev hybrid model). Eventually the vehicle lost all power and I was able to park it along the side of the interstate. The vehicle was still on, ac and electoral systems worked. After about 5 minutes, gas engine spontaneously started back up. I was able to gain speed start bad down the road. Approximately 3 min later, gas engine shuts down and same process occurred. This cycle took place about 6 times before vehicle would not start up anymore and ultimately had to be towed. After a week, dealership is not sure what’s wrong as the transmission has been replaced which did not fix the problem. Dealership is now planning to replace the pim module although there is an over 45day wait and they are unsure if that will fix the problem.

Other Fuel System problem #16

We purchased a 2022 Pacifica hybrid in Feb of 2024 that is still under full factory warranty. We had the vehicle serviced once for a/c issues and it's regularly scheduled 30k mile service in April and may. [xxx] our van had a. Catastrophic failure in texas, where it has remained since June 1st. The deep cycle hybrid battery overheated, making it inoperable. They have replaced the deep cycle hybrid battery twice-those batteries run 15-16k$, plus the additional parts and labor. Stellantis customer service promised rental reimbursement for the 2 vehicles we had to rent to continue our trip to arizona. Then they declined to reimburse for both. They also stated they would pay for rentals ongoing while our van was in texas and after we rented a van for two additional weeks, refused to pay for that. We requested a buyback at week 7 and that was denied. Two weeks ago, they stated the van was repaired and it sat in texas while the dealership argued with stellantis customer service about who was responsible for returning our van. Finally Chrysler agreed to ship it to us and while the area manager was driving the van to the loading point for the shipping company, it had the same catastrophic failure. Chrysler had it towed to a different dealership in texas and that dealership says they are going to start over and hopefully they can diagnose the issue fully, but they will have to replace the battery for a. 3rd time, totaling 4 batteries in 3 months or 64k$. . The vehicle purchase price was 42k$. We purchased extensive extended warranties. We put down 24,500$ in cash and trade. We have since found out that a dealer in new jersey put this car back on the market after they knew there was something wrong with it and made it someone else's problem. The selling dealership had no way of knowing the vehicle battery would overheat in the summer, as they purchased it from auction in November and sold it to us in Feb. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Other Fuel System problem #17

Driving on highway and got a message saying "stop safely - vehicle will shut off soon". Pulled over to the shoulder before the engine stopped once. Researched the issue and tried to drive to a dealership. Stayed in right lane and the issue happened a second time with the same message displaying and this time, I actually did lose propulsion, but was able to safely park on the shoulder again.

Other Fuel System problem #18

Loss of drive power while at high speed on the highway. Warning popped up saying car will lose power soon, with a turtle icon. Had to pull over 3 lanes to shoulder. Could have been dangerous, Chrysler known issue - they had recall 03a to make sure the warning turns up, but didn't fix it.

Other Fuel System problem #19

I ran into a very dangerous situation last Monday. I was driving on a freeway and car brokedown, accelarator unresponsive , got "service charging system" car lost power it was very dangerous and someohow I was able to get into shoulder lane and with god's grace we survived. After 3 4 minutes I was able to get my car turn off and on and then it drove with minimal speed 12m/hr. So I decided to take it in nearby open parking area and get it towed. This is serious life threatening especially with family.

Other Fuel System problem #20

This letter is for a near fatality while driving my new 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid on October 30th, 2023. While driving back home on a dark and stormy night with poor visibility on i87 north my 2022 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid shutdown nearly causing a fatal accident. My 3 kids (ages 4, 5, and 8) were in the car with me. The car blinked power and I lost motor function (no acceleration), the car went from around 70-75 miles per hour to almost 40 forcing me to try and get over to the shoulder. During this stressful process a mac truck nearly ran us off the road dramatizing me and my kids. While on the shoulder I tried everything to get the car back on, after turning off and on the car several times I was able to drive very slowly (max speeds of 1-20 miles per hour) with me pressing the gas pedal at full throttle. I was able to get off the new palz exit which was 4 miles from the incident and call triple a for a tow truck back to dutches Dodge. Since the incident, I've been working with fca and looking for guidance on what can be done for my family. The process has been very difficult with dutches Dodge refusing to talk to us. Chrysler failed me with an unsafe car, I feel punished for being a responsible and safe driver. I brought in the car for recall 03a/NHTSA 23v-010 in July which did a software update for an internal transmission wiring connector. Based on the fca case 87814953, I was told the star investigation found fault 21-008-23 which is for the internal transmission wiring connector. The software update does not seem to fix the issue, how many others are at risk? the car was proposed new on 12/13/2023 and had less than 12000 miles on it, all we know is the car needs an entire new transmission and new recall which we were not aware of for a serpentine belt. How can Chrysler assure us that the issue is fixed? since the incident I have been dealing with post traumatic stress. Apart from having to take time off work and losing motivation I've felt that fca does.

Other Fuel System problem #21

Service charging system error. Car will not charge with level 1 or level 2 charger.

Other Fuel System problem #22

After recall, vehicle continues to suffer from engine shutdown due to electrical fault in transmission wiring harness.

Other Fuel System problem #23

We were driving on the highway when we got a warning to pull over safely as the vehicle will shut down soon. The accelerator became unresponsive, and the vehicle began losing power. This has happened a number of times and we took it into the dealer who replaced the transmission. However, on various social media sites, it has been reported that this has been happening to many many people. This is an extremely dangerous situation for so many people unaware of the potential. As I understand it, they replace the transmission with a like transmission. The problem is not actually being solved. They are simply offering a short term fix with the potential for it to happen again. It is reported by others that their second transmission has done the same thing. Below is one example of a social media post where others have claimed the same issue. [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Other Fuel System problem #24

The air conditioner stopped working and a warning message was displayed on the dash stating service hybrid system, immediately after the vehicle shut off while driving above 70mph. Fits symptoms of 03a recall. Vehicle at dealership for service. 80 miles driven by customer total since purchase.

Other Fuel System problem #25

My car had less than 500 miles on it. While driving down the interstate, it suddenly stopped accelerating and a warning to “pull to a safe place the vehicle will soon shut off” appeared. The vehicle shut off. It was towed to the dealership. After almost a week with the van, the dealer said nothing was wrong and they sent me back on my way. 5 miles down the road and on a busy road, same thing happened. Van stalled and was again towed to the dealership. This time they said it needed a new pim system. It was at this time that I became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 23v-010. I was sold this car on June 14 after Chrysler was aware of the issue.

Other Fuel System problem #26

Loss of motive power on highway, even after manufacture recall software upgrade.

Other Fuel System problem #27

I was driving around 15 mph and the van suddenly lost all electrical and engine power. I could not drive and none of the instruments were working. I could not turn on the emergency blinkers / hazard lights. I could not restart the van. No buttons were working. The van came to a stop with some bad sounds from the engine. I was on a hill and I had to keep my foot on the brake otherwise the van would start rolling backwards. I could not place the vehicle into park and the parking break did not work either. This means I was effectively trapped in the vehicle, in the middle of the road, unable to engage any hazard lights. I called my spouse and he drove to meet me. He opened the hood and after a minute the power returned and the vehicle displayed a "service electrical system" message. I was then able to drive the vehicle home about half a mile. Later that evening the vehicle again "died" and was unresponsive. Hours later it is still not turning on and will have it towed to the dealership. This complete loss of power has happened a few times before, but always when the vehicle was parked overnight and I discovered it was not working in the morning. But it would always turn itself back on after a few minutes.

Other Fuel System problem #28

During the month of March, 2023, my vehicle completely shut down on two occasions, both of which occurred while traveling at highway speeds. There were dash icons that were lit, including a check engine light, a turtle icon and a message to pull over. The shutdown caused me to move quickly to the shoulder of the road, with limited ability to maneuver in a safe manner. These shutdowns occurred after the vehicle had its software updated based on recall 03a (loss of motive power). Apparently, the update only served to provide a warning on the dash that the engine was about to shut down (which occurred immediately). The dealer has had the vehicle for some time, and the latest update is that they are replacing the vehicle's transmission. It would seem unacceptable if, in fact, a (known?) issue that causes a shutdown was addressed by merely providing a millisecond's notice that the vehicle is going to completely die. This is an extremely unsafe situation, placing the motorist, their passengers and nearby vehicles in danger.

Other Fuel System problem #29

On 3/6/2023 while driving on a freeway, my vehicle experienced a complete loss of motive power and the accelerator was unresponsive. The dash gave me a warning that the vehicle was off. On 3/7/2023, the same incident occurred twice while on the same freeway. On 3/7/23, I dropped it off at moss bros Chrysler dealer in riverside, CA for the loss of motive power recall I was just notified of. The software update from the recall was performed, and the service adviser informed me that it was successful and the issue had been resolved. On 3/9/2023, I drove it on the freeway, and again, the same loss of motive power occurred. This time, the dash warned me that vehicle shutdown was imminent, and a turtle icon displayed on the dash. However, the moment the dash displayed this information, all motive power was lost and the experience was identical to before the software update. This is a significant safety issue as the freeways in my area usually do not have any shoulders or areas that are safe to pull over on. This is a serious defect that poses a safety risk to anyone in the vehicle. It has not been fixed by the recall.

Other Fuel System problem #30

The fuel line into the fuel tank and tank itself were leaking gas. It was not a large leak but it was enough to soak the felt lining underneath the gas tank. It made our garage completely smell of gas fumes and the fumes began to migrate into the home. The dealer originally took a look at it on 3/13/23 and determined that the fill line was just loose into the tank. However when we filled the tank with gas again on 3/20/23 the problem began again. It went back into the dealer on 3/21/23 and they are replacing the fuel tank and the fuel fill line. No warning lights or messages ever came on.

Other Fuel System problem #31

February 23rd: car shut off while getting off the freeway. Would not restart for 5 minutes. Had no acceleration but could still steer. February 23rd: brought car to the dealership, they scanned the car and there was no code. February 26th: car shut off 3 times on the freeway going 70mph. Had to pull over and restart car to be able to accelerate. I had my 2 kids in the car at this time and fear for their safety. March 1st- car shut off on the freeway going 70 mph. Had to pull over carefully again. Turn off the car, open the car door, wait a few minutes, restart. March 3rd- car shut off on the freeway again. Brought car to the dealership again, they asked for me to drop it off on Monday. March 6th- left car at dealership. They said it needs a new transmission and would be a minimum of 30 days to replace it, but most likely longer.

Other Fuel System problem #32

While driving on the freeway at 60-70 mph, in 20 degree weather at night, the engine suddenly, and without warning, stopped. A dash error message showed instructions to put the car in park and push the start / run button. The van was still traveling at a high rate of speed while the message stayed up and the van had to be carefully maneuvered through traffic, across multiple lanes to the next exit, without the ability to accelerate when needed. Somehow no one was hurt and the vehicle did not get into an accident, but it came to a stop in the middle of the exit ramp, which had a steep uphill grade. The van was unable to be restarted. A good samaritan helped push the car to a nearby lot while car was in neutral. It was unable to be started then and two and three days later. The roadside assistance couldn’t be provided until a few days later because the incident occurred at the beginning of the weekend. The vehicle was finally towed to the closest dealership today. The dealership said the software update is available for the recall of potential loss of motive power, which appears to be the issue we experienced. They said it would take 2-3 weeks to look at the vehicle due to their backlog. I called the dealership where we bought it, and they said the same. Also, based on initial research, it seems the software update will only give advance warning when an electrical short is about to cause the engine to stop so the driver can have advanced warning and presumably drive to safety without an accident. Unfortunately, the manufacturer still needs to address the root cause and build a solution to prevent the electrical short from happening in the first place. The situation is troubling and the manufacturer and both dealerships are even stalling in getting us a complimentary loaner vehicle. Also note that we were not instructed to stop driving the vehicle when we found out about the recall prior to the incident. Again the van won’t be fixed for weeks, NHTSA shows no remedy yet.

Other Fuel System problem #33

Van shutoff on the highway going 60- 65 mph with my wife and two kids under six. Winter time snow plowed road so no available shoulder due to snow mounds. Van quit running during rush hour. Car coasted to a stop and would not restart. Had to be towed. Dealer said it was a known issue. Googled it and there were news articles about the issue. Van gave no warning it was shutting down. Dealer has had the 2022 Chrysler Pacifica plug in hybrid for 30 days in the service shop and still don’t have a fix for it. Opened a case with Chrysler, case number 85533496.

Other Fuel System problem #34

I drive on the freeway, and I lost any power with the car, I'm lucky my baby was not in my car on that day. It happened two times and I go to the mopar service center, they tell me they don't have the part for that, and I ask them what's should I do with that situation, and they said that's a good question, I have no idea, but you can wait for the part and I don't know when the part comes in maybe a week, and maybe few months.

Other Fuel System problem #35

This is a plug in hybrid vehicle (rental from avis). I was driving on freeway today January 13, 2023 and vehicle lost all propulsion (did no respond to accelerator being depressed) with warning message on screen "press brake and push button to start" and "shift to p to start" while at 64mph. Vehicle was slowing down and would not accelerate when pushing on the accelerator pedal. Happened twice during 20 min drive into work. I was able to have my phone ready and took pictures of the warning screen the second time. Pulled off to the side of the road to be able to switch the car to "p", turned off the the car with the push button and then restart. Notes: 40 degrees f 10 minutes into drive heated seats on rained the night before, damp in the morning this issue occurred on January 10th as well and had to pull off and restart as well.

Other Fuel System problem #36

We were driving our Chrysler Pacifica hybrid on the highway and it stalled and said put into park and completely turned off. When we pulled over to the side of the road, the car would not start and had to be towed to the dealership. It was very unsafe and not the first time that our car has turned off.

Other Fuel System problem #37

Have a 2022 Chrysler Pacifica pinnacle which we picked up 10/8. This incident occured 11/3, issue occurred with car under 1000 miles driven. So less than 1 month of ownership. Driving on 4 lane highway during stop and go traffic. Driving approximately 15-20 mph. Car suddenly loses all forward motive power with engine light and battery light flashing on dashboard. In center dash it was saying "service charging system". Luckily, was able to coast to shoulder of highway. Was unable to restart car for 15 minutes, car kept saying to put into p and until after completely turning the car off by opening the driver side door to simulate leaving the vehicle, and then closing the door. Drove to dealer and car stored dtc p0a45 error code, which they cleared and test drove for 50 miles. They could not reproduce the issue. Losing driving power is very dangerous while driving at any speed! this is a huge safety concern for my family with two small children. This needs to be investigated and a cause determined! this is a major accident or even death waiting to happen!.

Other Fuel System problem #38

Twice now driving on the freeway in my brand new 2022 plug-in Pacifica with 10k miles— all of a sudden there is a rumble (feels like a down shift) and the vehicle won’t accelerate. The dash message started flashing “put in p to start. ” however, the car is still on and in “run. ” I pulled over, put the vehicle in park, and turned it off. Then I had to push start button several times to unlock the shifter to go to drive again. A check engine light came on. The first time it happened, I finished my trip. Later that day when I had parked the car for a few hours the check engine light went off. The second incident happened a week later. The engine light came on. So I dove to the closest auto zone for a code reading. It came back p0a43.

Other Fuel System problem #39

Was driving home and accelerating when there was a mechanical "thump" noise and the vehicle mil indicator came on with a "red turtle" indicator on. Vehicle speed/performance was immediately reduced and I was not able to maintain a safe speed or have enough power to travel at appropriate speeds when hills were involved. This is the second time this has happened in this vehicle. The dealer has already looked at the vehicle prior and claimed they found the issue and resolved it. Since it occurred again the issue has clearly not been resolved or properly identified.

Other Fuel System problem #40

Was driving down I-270 with family when the vehicle immediately registered a fault that the hood was open and unable to charge/condition battery. All engine power and speed control was lost at highway speeds and was barely able to get out of the way of traffic. I was able to coast to the shoulder without injury or accident with a few near misses. Opened / closed the hood at the side of the road and the fault didn't clear. 5-10 minutes later vehicle cleared the error and I was able to drive to a local dealership who told me "there is nothing they can do for me". The best option I had after talking with the Chrysler dealership was to to drive home praying my family didn't get stuck again.

Other Fuel System problem #41

The car stalled while driving. I was driving down a city street and the engine cut off and a message on the dash read "put vehicle in p to start. " I pulled over and it took several minutes to get the car to restart. This happened several times on the way back to the dealership (we had only just bought the car the day before). Our safety and that of others on the road was put at risk because we were stopped in the middle of traffic and were unable to move. Pulling over across traffic once the car had stalled was also dangerous because I could not propel the car forward. I did manage to steer the car to the side of the road. After this happened several times in the course of a few blocks, I called for roadside assistance to tow the car back to the dealership. After the incident happened, the "check engine" light came on. The car is currently at the dealership awaiting repair.
