Noticed a lot of rust on frame at front of vehicle. Body shop confirmed that the engine cradle was badly rusted and has to be replaced. Car is past the extended warranty of 7/75,000. This is way too much damage for a car with 67,000 miles.
Vehicle gear shift stuck in park even though brake is depressed. Tried rocking the vehicle back and forth to see if it was stuck in gear, no change. I conducted an internet search for this problem and found that several Chrysler and Dodge products have this exact same problem. Cause: a small pink piece of plastic that has a spring attached to it, which is a gear locking mechanism, tends to break at about 40-60 thousand miles or sooner. There are no Chrysler recalls for this item. The piece seems to cost about $2. 00 for Chrysler to make however, one will pay $300-$400 or more for the dealer to fix. Takes minutes to replace if you know what you are doing. One can find the part online and replace with metal so that it will not break again for about $50. Chrysler complaint line states that they will not fix unless nhtsb files a recall complaint. Then I may get reimbursed for my cost. The pink plastic piece can break at any time leaving the driver stranded anywhere at any time, e. G. The drive thru. , parking structure at night, etc. .
Front sub-frame found significantly rusted, complete perforation on the passenger side for almost 6 inches, several holes on the drivers side. Vehicle will not pass PA state safety inspection. Chrysler says nothing they can do because of mileage, dealer says it is not their fault as it is a factory defect. Left with an unsafe, illegal vehicle after only 2 car payments.
A letter was sent to some 2004-2005 Chrysler Pacifica owners that the front engine cradle and suspension mount frame warranty was being extended to 15 years or 150,000 miles to owners in states that use road salt because off corrosion problems. They go on to carelessly explain that if your are not experiencing vibration and shaking you need to do nothing-- by the time its that bad its almost to late! mine was not shaking but I had my Pacifica inspected any way and found rust holes in front frame, one was the size of my fist and on the other side may be three or four fingers wide. I stopped driving the vehicle immediately and called the phone # listed on the notification letter twice, both times they denied a problem because it was not listed as a recall on their web site and besides my vehicle did not fall into the VIN block ?? there are cases listed on the internet where state dmv inspection stations have failed these vehicles because they were unsafe to drive because of frame corrosion. I am having the engine cradle replaced at my expense. How can a manufacturer have such a flippant attitude about a known serious safety issue? does this fall under a hidden warranty or recall.
2004 Chrysler Pacifica taken to mechanic after purchasing used with 69,500 miles for "clunking" noise in front-end. Replaced parts included: sway bar linkages, tie rod ends, and struts and mounts all of which needed replacing. But the noise was still there. The mechanic then used a tool he called "chassis ears" to pinpoint the source of the noise. He found that the subframe (engine cradle) was rusted at the point that it mounts to the body, just under the front passenger-side floorboard. Upon further inspection rust was apparent on the drivers-side also. This is a major safety issue!!! the entire front-end of the vehicle including: engine, transmission, and all front-end suspension and steering is held in place by this subframe (engine cradle). What happens when this totally fails while driving with six people in the vehicle? why has this not become a mandatory safety recall? does someone have to get killed before this gets someones attention? this is not an isolated incident as can be seen by this website. Nhtsa please help!!!.
After owning my 2004 Chrysler pacifia for 7 years, I was told by the dealer, during a routine oilchange, that the subframe is rusted out and wouldnt last much longer. There are two rust holes in the frame structure on the left side and more forming on the right side on the height of the wheels. Replacing the subframe (which holds the motor in place) would cost about +$4000!! I have always taking excellent care of this car. It is in great shape inside and out - except the frame. After doing some research online I have found that I am not alone. There is a mulitude of 2004 Chrysler owners having the exact same problem as I do. This issue needs to be resolved by Chrysler. A subframe is supose to last longer then 7 years!.
Vehicle was taken in to dealer due to excessive noise when brakes are applied hard for sudden stops. Were told that the subframe in the front of the car is rusted out and will cost about $3,000 to repair. Car is garage-kept and washed regularly, and only has 75,000 miles.
85,000 miles on a well maintained vehicle. Noticed noise in chassis especially turning and over bumps. Rear crossmember (part of engine cradle) rusted through on both sides and nearly broken free from left and right frame rails. Contacted Chrysler only to learn that "select 2002 and 2003 Pacifica models in high corrosion areas" have extended warranty (up to 150,000 miles) for this exact issue. Unfortunately Chrysler will not cover 2004 models!!! very expensive to repair! sad that Chrysler will not stand behind their vehicles. . . . Especially since they obviously know it's an issue!.
Car now has 140000 miles. I am on the 3rd full set of engine mounts and now 3 of them are broken again and need replacement. This could easily have turned into a safety issue. This is obviously a defect that Chrysler knows about. Why has there been no recall?.
My Chrysler Pacifica has has several problems with transmission. Recently the transmission wont shift past 2nd. I dont know what to do or how much it cost.
Abs light on my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica keeps coming on and going off. Have read on the internet that this is a major problem with the Pacifica's. Usually has something to do with wheel sensors or speed sensors. If all these vehicles are having the same problem there should be a Chrysler recall to fix this problem.
My 2005 Chrysler Pacifica started running terrible at low speeds. It does not run smoothly, instead it kind of chugs along almost like it is missing or like I got a bad tank of gas. I have been through several tanks of gas adding fuel cleaner to it and it doesn't help. I have taken it in to the local Chrysler dealership twice and they can not recreate the problem. It runs fine on the highway but at 35 mph in town I feel it chug along. Very frustrating that Chrysler can not figure out what is happening with it. They hooked it up to the machine and got nothing back. They replaced spark plugs and did a fuel injection flush and also service the transmission and the problem is still happening.
On April 13, 2011, while driving vehicle at approximately 10 mph and while making a left turn, vehicle suddenly stopped abruptly resulting in a vehicle stall. All electrical power was lossed, along with engine stalling. Restarted vehicle and proceeded to drive again when it then suddenly started to drive rough for approximately a couple of seconds, as if it again wanted to stall, but didn;t. After this, the vehicle drove normal. Took vehicle to pepboys on the same day and they diagnosed a 420 and a 700 fault code. On Thursday April 14, 2011 took vehicle to alliance Chrysler dealer in ft. Worth, TX. I explained what had happened and mentioned that my vehicle experienced the same symptoms described in the pcm/fuel pump recall issued against 2006 Pacificas. I also mentioned that this recall did not cover my vehicle whcih they confirmed. However, I raised concerns on whether the recall applicabililty needed to be expanded to cover other Pacificas. The dealer has yet to figure out the problem besides telling me that they confirmed a 420 and 700 fault code which they stated would requie me to replace the catalytic converter and the transmisstion shifting solenoid. I questioned whether the sudden stall of the vehicle could have resulted in a misleading fault code. Dealer technician mentioned that the stall could have been caused by a faulty transmission solenoid. I mentioned that my vehicle had showned no indication of a transmission problem with the gear shift. Besides, if a faulty transmission shift solenoid is capable of causing a vehicle stall, then this vehicle has a serious design flaw since a stall while driving could result in serious injury or a catastrophic accident. Dealer mentioned that mechanic was unable to replicate the failure and would continue to investigate the problem and get back to me. As of April 20, 2011, dealer has been unable to explained why the vehicle stalled. I suggested they perform the 2006 pcm/fuel pump recall fix.
I took my 2004 Pacifica in for an alignment and when they got it up saw that my engine cradle had rusted badly and was falling apart. I have searched the internet to see if there has been a recall and have not found one but have found many other complaints of the same thing happening. I got an estimate today and he said the new engine cradle will cost me $3600 plus around $500 for labor. This is horrible. This is the nicest car I have ever owned. It was never wrecked and I dont know how in the world this could even happen. It has to be a defect that Chrysler should be taken care of because there are so many having the same problem.
Purchased used 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Aug 2010 and abs light has been coming on intermittently since that time but goes off when the engine is turned off. Brake pads replaced Jan 2011. March 2011 brakes started going all the way to the floor. Have had them checked by two different mechanics and they are unable to diagnose the problem with the abs light unless the light is on when they are looking it over. My brakes going to the floor happens at least 4 to 5 times a week. I am trying to be very cautious in driving but am still very concerned that I may be involved in an accident with my brakes failing me.
The accelerator pedal sticks when the vehicle is in reverse. The pedal has to be pushed down with excessive force in order for it to release, causing a forceful reaction.
On February 14, 2011 I was making a left turn at about 5 to 10 miles per hour when my 2006 Chrysler pacific stopped. I was barely into the turn when the engine stopped. I had to put the car into park and restart the engine. This has been happening for probably 2 to 3 times a year. Usually it happens when I make sharp left turns but this time it was not a sharp turn. I was very concerned this time because there was another car approaching and I was in the middle of the street. I had taken my vehicle into Chrysler years ago for a recall and replacement of a part that was supposed to stop the stalling. But it is still occuring. Not sure if it is electrical or fuel line or something else.
I have a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica with 49,500 miles, manufacured in June 2005. On three (3) occasions while in a low speed left hand turn the car has stalled without warning. The first occasion was 2 months ago, the subsequent stalls occurred over the past two (2) weeks. Upon coming to a stop and placing the car in park the engine restarts without any problem.
My 2005 Chrysler Pacifica has broken motor mounts and it seems that it is very common in this vehicle, I wonder why nothing has been done to remedy this wide spread problem that Chrysler should be held accountable for.
My crhysler Pacifica 2005, has a problem with the gas pedal. It is sticking when I want to accelerate. I have to push it really hard to unstick the pedal.
Brake pedal fell away from my foot and abs light came on while braking at highway speeds. Light went off, but came on again later. Days later, more brake failures that made stopping difficult.
Purchased this car used in February 2008. Shortly thereafter I noticed a knock in the front when turning wheel at low speeds (ie, backing up). Also felt slight vibration on acceleration. Dealer unable to find anything until June 2009. Miles 38733. Front tie rod was broken and replaced by dealer. This did not resolve the knock or the vibration on acceleration. Knock continued and got worse. At 61000, the car was again brought in for the knocking. At first look, the mechanic did not see a problem. I explained that at extreme turn of wheel at low speeds, there is a distinct knock in front. After his further inspection, I was advised by service center that the car has two (2) broken motor mounts and this could be the source of the knock and vibration. Was taken to Dodge dealer where purchased to confirm broken motor mounts. Parts were replaced under extended warranty. Still did not resolve the knock.
I was driving me Chrysler Pacifica and noticed a smell of fumes and when I stopped for a light and proceeded the car made a rumbling noise as if I was going over grating which I wasn't. Then I noticed s,oke comin out of the hood. I at first thought it was overheating but my temperature gauge was not on hot. I went to a gas station and they said it was probably a little oil spilled and that was it. It had stopped. I went to my destination, turned car off and came back 5 minuted later and car started up fine. Proceeded back on highway and again smelled fumes. Suddenly car just ceases on highway. Thank god I had my emergency lights on and I was in the rigth lane going very slow. I pulled over at which time smoke was billowing out of the hood and fire was coming out from under the car. I called 911 and car burst into flames! August of 2007 I brought my car to dealer because I received a recall notice on the fuel pump module and they fixed it. Thank god I wasn't in the left lane or there would have been a severe accident and my daughter and I might not have gotten out in time.
Chrysler Pacifica 04 front wheel drive.
A small piece of road debris ( 1x4 board) contacted the underside of my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica puncturing the fuel tank. The tanks is hung lower than the surrounding chassis components and does not have any type of shield or skid plate, leaving it rather vulnerable to damage from road debris. Furthermore the tanks is located close to the exhaust and catalytic converter. Cost to replace the tank was in excess of $1000. 00. The local Chrysler dealer felt there was no problem with the design and that there is no fix available to prevent this from re-occurring. Furthermore the local dealership had no knowledge on any reporting system within daimler Chrysler to whom we could report our concerns.
2005 Chrysler Pacifica touring. Have had the car 4 months. This is our third cd/dvd player. We have had music cds become jammed two times and the dealer has had to replace the units. Currently not using the player for music or dvds, trying to avoid the pain of dealing with the dealership.
My brand new Pacifica is leaking massive amounts of water from below the steering wheel. The floor of the entire car is soaked and I expect a replacement car since this one is ruined and will smell of mold! I paid $42,000 for this vehicle and expect a replacement!!.
